Thousands of farmers in India continued to pause their march towards Delhi on Monday
00:07
after the fourth round of talks with the government.
00:11
The farmers embarked on a march called "Let's Go to Delhi" on February 13th to demand the
00:16
government to set a minimum price for their produce.
00:20
They were stopped by security forces about 200 km away from the capital as they entered
00:25
talks to settle the issue.
00:28
They have remained camped on the border between Punjab and Haryana states since last Friday.
00:34
"When the government is thinking about something, has said something to itself, that's why we
00:40
will get the time of 18th, 19th and 20th.
00:45
And our second program, at 9pm, the program to go to Delhi, that is on standby."
01:02
Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal was among the government officials attending the
01:06
talks where a proposal regarding minimum support price for crop diversification was presented.
01:12
"The farmers who diversify their crop and make either toor dal, urad dal, masoor dal
01:24
or makka, will be given a contract for 5 years from NCCF and NAFRED, which will guarantee
01:36
that for the next 5 years, whichever crop will be diversified and will produce 4 products,
01:45
will be bought by these organizations on MSP."
01:55
The farmers said they are staying put at the border to ensure a victory for the agriculture sector.
02:00
"We are fighting against the house, we are going out, and everyone is looking at the water.
02:06
The water is flowing a lot, but still we are bathing, bathing, bathing, reading, doing all
02:11
the work, everyone is bathing.
02:15
There are problems, but if we don't solve them, how will the car work?"
02:20
"Look, we have come here for our children.
02:23
Our children's village will be ruined.
02:25
If we come here, we will be able to do it."
02:28
The protests have erupted for a few months ahead of the general election in India between
02:33
April and May this year.
