Bristol Light Festival is back: What are this week’s top stories?

As ever it has been a busy week in the city of Bristol from the city being named the most romantic to the relaunch of a bus route. But what are the top stories?

00:07 World and we are going to be discussing the top five news stories in the city this week.

00:13 So Charlie, can you tell me what is our first top story in the city this week?

00:18 I can. So we jump in with the latest update about the double murder investigation in North

00:23 West in Bristol, where now a fifth person has been charged with the murder of the two

00:28 boys. A 14-year-old has been charged with the deaths of Mason Wriste and Max Dixon on

00:34 Monday afternoon and has been remanded in custody. The teenagers died after being attacked

00:39 in North West on the night of the 27th of January. A police inquiry is seen by people

00:45 charged with the murder, including a 17-year-old boy, on the weekend.

00:51 Thank you, Charlie. So that is a sad one for the city. Shall we move on to our second top

00:57 story in the city this week? Tell me about that.

01:01 So our second top story is that a Bristol bus service that was previously scrapped is

01:06 set to make a return. A Transpora bus has announced it will be operating the 90 route,

01:13 which was previously ran by a First Bus from April. So the route goes from Hengrowth Park

01:19 to Broadmead.

01:20 Thank you, Charlie. Well, that is a good one for transport in Bristol for 2024. So shall

01:26 we move on to our third top story in the city this week? Tell me about that.

01:32 We can. So our next story is that a Bristol resident has been holding a sign that he's

01:37 made by the side of a dual carriageway to warn drivers about a speed camera he says

01:43 is hiding. So over the week, Nick Haskins has held the sign of the speed camera up to

01:49 drivers along Hengrowth Way in South Bristol. He's calling himself the speed camera warrior

01:56 and says he is angry about the lack of speed camera signage on the road. He says he just

02:01 he doesn't like the fact that speed cameras are on the side of this road.

02:12 We can. So moving back to our main story about the murder of teenagers, a memorial football

02:21 match has been held to raise money for the two boys that were sadly killed. And it was

02:27 held on Saturday at the park in Norwest.

02:36 Yes. So finally, Bristol Light Festival has returned for 2024. So there's 10 illuminations

02:45 at sites across the city centre, including these giant bubbles outside College Green.
