00:00 Well, over the past 24 hours, the SES has responded to hundreds of incidents and that
00:06 includes things like roofs leaking, trees falling down and other storm-related damage
00:11 occurring to properties.
00:14 Heavy rainfall impacted Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Central Coast yesterday.
00:19 At Castle Hill in Sydney's north, a large tree fell onto a house, causing significant
00:24 damage.
00:26 The SES is warning that that severe weather is now moving northwards during this afternoon
00:31 and this evening.
00:32 We're going to see heavy rainfall on the New South Wales, Mid North Coast and Northern
00:37 Rivers regions.
00:38 People in those areas are being warned to brace for potential flash flooding.
00:43 The SES is urging people not to camp in low-lying areas and if any roads flood, to never drive
00:50 through floodwaters.
00:51 And, Helena, it's been a deadly night on the state's roads as well.
00:57 That's right, Melissa.
00:58 Unfortunately, we're continuing to see the New South Wales road toll climb.
01:02 Fifteen people have already been killed in crashes across the state this year.
01:07 That includes overnight in the past 48 hours or so, we've seen five people killed on the
01:12 roads in three different crashes.
01:15 One of those incidents saw a car full of teenagers plough into a pole in Sydney's northwest.
01:21 Tragically, two teenage boys who were passengers in that car died at the scene.
01:27 Road trauma and safety advocates are continuing to urge both state and federal governments
01:32 to increase policing on the road and to improve driver safety education in high schools.
