It has been two months since some workers at the Tobago Agribusiness Development Company, TADCO were sent home, and today many of them are asking, where are their gratuity payments promised by the company.

Not only that, previous workers who were not re-engaged are crying foul against the Tobago House of Assembly, citing failed promises by the Farley Augustine- led administration. More in this Elizabeth Williams report.

00:00 And we were told by the chairman of the company that the gratuity would be ready by the first
00:06 week or two weeks after the 30th.
00:08 It is now two months.
00:10 Nobody's saying anything to us.
00:12 We have not heard anything from the company.
00:14 And there are people who are, there are some of us who are in a very dire situation as
00:19 it refers to money, because already we were sent home without any notice.
00:22 We do not have a job.
00:24 We were sent home without any separation packages.
00:27 The woman said Chief Secretary Farley Augustine failed in his promise to them as workers.
00:34 After our chief secretary came and spoke to us and gave us his word that nobody will be
00:45 sent home.
00:47 I cannot begin to describe what sort of integrity that this administration has displayed to
00:59 the public of Tobago.
01:00 None at all.
01:01 They have not lived up to their word.
01:05 Some former workers are now jobless.
01:07 Others are facing eviction.
01:09 And one sole breadwinner is worried about her family's future.
01:13 I am now trying to grasp onto every little thing so that I can keep my family together.
01:24 My children can be able to function in school.
01:29 And also all my commitments, my loans, all my payments, everything is chaotic right now
01:39 for me.
01:40 When contacted by TV6 News, Chairman of the Board of Tadco, Ricardo Alfred, apologized
01:46 for the delay in contacting the former workers, but added that efforts will be made to expedite
01:53 payments as these funds are to be audited.
01:55 First, I want to really give some apologies that this matter wasn't brought to rest.
02:04 I would also want to say that the matter is now, well, it's before the audit persons by
02:10 a private entity who will audit these persons.
02:13 And hopefully by the end of this month, November, the persons will be paid.
02:19 But it is currently, it has to be audited.
02:22 Elizabeth Williams, TV6 News.
