00:02 >> Our reaction now to what we saw on a Monday night in Kansas City with all
00:07 the hype, with all the enthusiasm, the atmosphere at Arrowhead for
00:12 a Super Bowl 57 rematch and potentially a Super Bowl 58 preview.
00:17 The Eagles and the Chiefs DRS once again,
00:20 except unlike what we saw in Glendale, Arizona last February.
00:25 This time the Eagles triumph and come out on top.
00:28 21-17, Philadelphia victorious last night winning outright DRS as a two and
00:34 a half point underdog.
00:36 Only the second time for the birds as a dog since the start of 2022 and
00:40 the opponent in both of those games, Donnie, those Kansas City Chiefs.
00:45 But Philadelphia comes back in the fourth quarter, a big pass 41 yards from
00:50 Jalen Hurts to Devontae Smith, sets up Hurts' second rushing touchdown of the night.
00:55 The brotherly shove finds their way into the end zone and a couple of costly drop
01:00 passes by Kansas City's receivers including Travis Kelsey on their final
01:04 offensive possession, the difference as the Eagles win by four, 21-17 DRS.
01:10 >> It's not the same Kansas City Chiefs as we've seen the past couple years.
01:13 That's official here.
01:14 They just don't have the explosiveness at wide receiver.
01:16 They have about five guys that all play the same position and
01:18 do the exact same things, but nobody that you can lean on in big moments.
01:22 When you talk about investment in wide receivers,
01:24 the Philadelphia Eagles have done that.
01:25 AJ Brown, only had one catch last night, so
01:27 we're gonna remove him from the equation.
01:29 Big man didn't step up, but you know who did?
01:31 A guy that was drafted in the first round top 10 in the NFL that won a Heisman
01:34 trophy that was stepping up in the biggest moments.
01:36 So the takeaways from that game were very simple to me.
01:38 What's Patrick Mahomes supposed to do?
01:40 He throws a laser beam to Valdez Scantling.
01:42 Yeah, there's a reason why Valdez Scantling each and
01:43 every week is priced at like 17 and a half receiving yards.
01:46 He's not a very good wide receiver and he's a journeyman here.
01:48 So Andy Reid and the Chiefs went the route of saying,
01:51 we can win with anybody here.
01:52 Almost reminiscent of when he was at the Philadelphia Eagles and
01:54 kept telling the public, we're fine with Pinkston and Thrash here.
01:58 And then once he got Terrell Owens, like, my goodness,
02:01 a true number one wide receiver, look at our offense here.
02:03 We're not saying the Chiefs are a bad ball club,
02:05 cuz quite frankly, I still think they're going to win the AFC.
02:08 But this is no longer the explosive Chiefs where you go like, well,
02:10 if we bracket coverage Tyreek Hill, what's gonna happen with Kelsey?
02:14 And then you do the same thing to Kelsey, what happens to Hill?
02:16 You don't have that quick threat now.
02:17 There's still a very quality ball club, but
02:19 no longer in that range of, my goodness.
02:21 You are so nervous to play Kansas City because they will wipe you off the mat.
02:25 They actually have a very good defense.
02:26 Imagine if they combined this defense with how they played offense in the past
02:29 couple years, but you can't do that.
02:31 Also, let's give some credit to the Philadelphia Eagles,
02:33 not playing their best football.
02:34 And no longer do I wanna hear talking heads, including myself, say, well,
02:37 we're waiting on the Eagles to play a good football game.
02:39 Who cares?
02:40 They win every single football game that feels like they play,
02:43 along with Jalen Hurts.
02:44 He had to step up in the biggest moments, third and
02:47 five rushing touchdown for him.
02:48 Late game, ball game, I need to make one big pass in this bad weather out here,
02:53 rainy, windy, sloppy conditions.
02:55 And I'm gonna throw a dime to Devonta Smith to down to the one yard line, and
02:58 away you go with victories.
02:59 This was an ugly football game, but let's not be mistaken.
03:02 These were the top two or three football teams in the NFL,
03:04 the Philadelphia Eagles on a bye week.
03:06 Yes, and Andy Reid bye week went into Kansas City when they score first and
03:11 win every game.
03:12 And I even saw the statistics entering into the fourth quarter,
03:14 like 95% of the games, Patrick Mahomes wins.
03:17 The Eagles pulled out that victory, not with an offensive play at the end of
03:20 the game, but with a defensive stop on the Chiefs.
03:22 That's big.
