00:48 Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Televisual Studios
00:52 in Havana, Cuba.
00:54 We begin with the news.
00:55 The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, arrived this Saturday in Venezuela to meet
00:59 with his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, in order to strengthen fraternal ties
01:03 between both nations.
01:05 At three o'clock in the afternoon local time, the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro,
01:09 was received by his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, at the Miraflores Palace,
01:13 where they held a meeting to discuss bilateral relations.
01:16 Petro arrived this Saturday morning at the SimĂłn BolĂvar de MaiketĂa International
01:20 Airport in the state of La Guaira.
01:23 The president of Colombia visited the 19th International Book Fair at its headquarters
01:27 in the Military Circle in Caracas.
01:30 During his speech at the fair, the Colombian president presented his book, "Una Vida,
01:35 Muchas Vidas", which he described as the story of a generation of revolutionaries who
01:40 are no longer.
01:45 On December 3rd, over 20 million voters will go to the polls during the national consultative
01:50 referendum on the Guayana Ezequiel, that is a legal right and citizen responsibility of
01:55 the adults.
01:56 Both children and teenagers also take part in the process, but in a different way.
02:00 Our correspondent Gladys Quesada tells us more.
02:06 In Caracas, schoolchildren packed the main hall of the SimĂłn BolĂvar Theater to enjoy
02:11 the sound of Venezuela rising in the Ezequiel.
02:14 A 15-minute play that offers an overview of the historical milestones of their nation
02:21 and the turning points of the dispute over the Guayana Ezequiel.
02:28 It could seem a simple task, but those involved in the production know well the responsibility
02:34 to pass the knowledge and the patriotic values to the younger generations.
02:46 We decided to assemble it here in the BolĂvar Theater and to summon the children of all
02:50 the schools of the Libertador Municipality here in Caracas.
02:54 A montage that, as we have been saying, incorporates the children to this great campaign and that
03:02 every child, every child, every youngster between 6 and 17 years old that make up this
03:07 cast and the children that come to see it from all the schools of the Libertador Municipality,
03:16 1,350 children are present here today that are joining this call.
03:25 The importance of this work for us is that the children understand why we have to reclaim
03:29 the Ezequiel area, which is part of Venezuela.
03:38 The National Theater Movement for Children and Youngsters produces the musical with a
03:43 cast of over 145 actor-children.
03:47 The costumes and makeup design were specially crafted to represent the native fauna and
03:52 flora, the Caribbean Sea and the richness of the Guayana Ezequiel region.
03:58 The stage design puts in full display the colors of the national flag, red, yellow and
04:04 blue.
04:05 Thanks to the aesthetic appeal and the musical ambience of the play, the young public learns
04:11 through the spectacle and the actors, also children, showcase their talent.
04:18 It helped me to understand it more.
04:19 I didn't understand much and it helped me to understand things, how everything was,
04:24 and I thought it was a very beautiful work.
04:26 I have understood a lot, quite a lot of the issues and it has taught us what the specific
04:31 case are and who they were and how the whole conflict developed.
04:37 From now on and until December the 3rd, the big little actors will keep offering their
04:42 arts and will have a last performance on a bigger stage.
04:46 The SimĂłn BolĂvar Square, the heart of Caracas downtown.
04:50 This is one of the many ways the Venezuelan people voice their claim over the disputed
04:55 region from the adults to the little ones.

05:03 In Cuba on Saturday the 4th Conference of the Nation and its immigrants kicked off.
05:09 Some 400 Cubans living abroad are attending the conference to such issues as the way the
05:14 Cuban government relates with its immigrant populations, cultural and identity issues,
05:19 economic development and the role Cuban immigrants can play in the island's current social
05:24 economic transformation.
05:26 Attending the event is Cuban President Miguel DĂaz-Canel, who called for strengthening
05:29 ties with Cubans residing abroad.
05:32 At the opening ceremony, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno RodrĂguez explained the challenges
05:36 facing Cuba today due to the combined effect of the U.S. economic blockade, the COVID-19
05:41 pandemic and the current global crisis.
05:51 We are suffering the mixed effects of the extreme intensification of the economic, commercial
05:56 and financial blockade, the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic impact
06:02 on the global crisis and the ongoing international conflict.
06:08 This is happening in the midst of the innovative and revolutionary process in our economy,
06:17 aimed at updating the socialist system, making it more efficient and adapted into the current
06:22 realities of the country and the world.
06:25 The Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno RodrĂguez recalled that the United Nations General Assembly
06:30 rejected the blockade against Cuba and the largest of the "untils" comes on the solidarity
06:35 of all continents and all of its citizens overseas.
06:42 The General Assembly of the United Nations on November 2nd demanded almost unanimously
06:47 that the government of the United States put an end to the blockade.
06:54 We enjoyed an extraordinary solidarity in all continents, particularly at the crucial
07:03 moments of our history in which Cubans living in other parts of the planet have had an active
07:11 participation, which makes us feel very emotional.
07:21 In the Dominican Republic, the Emergency Operations Center declared a red alert for seven provinces
07:35 due to the danger posed by the heavy rains associated to the tropical storm affecting
07:39 the Caribbean.
07:40 The agency said another 10 provinces are on yellow alert and nine districts are on green
07:45 alert for a total of 26 provinces on alert over possible flooding of rivers, streams
07:49 and creeks because of the tropical storm in the area, which has maximum sustained winds
07:53 of 55 km/h and is moving towards the northeast at a speed of 28 km/h.
08:00 The agency urged people to refrain from crossing rivers, streams and creeks that present high
08:04 volumes of water and not to go to bathing resorts in the provinces on their alert.

08:27, - Welcome back to Plasma South. In the midst of a critical
08:57 situation, the people of Gaza continue to demonstrate unwavering resilience as they
09:02 face an extremely difficult situation. Despite having been displaced from their homes, their
09:06 determination and creativity to survive and rebuild their lives is extraordinary.
09:11 - We are in the biggest refugee camp here in Janinis. This is the place where more than
09:19 50,000 Gaza TV families are residing because they have been left homeless due to the Israeli attacks.
09:25 - As we can see, people here are installed in these tents. With the upcoming rain and
09:43 winter, they have proceeded to put this kind of plastic over the tents so they don't flood.
09:48 The situation here is quite difficult. There is no fuel or food. So people cook in clay ovens like
09:55 this one you can see here, or using wood and fire because as we know, there is no fuel or gasoline.
10:01 - They even make the bread themselves since there are no bakeries open.
10:21 The UNGRA provides them with flour for them to knead and make the bread on the fire as we have
10:27 seen. The Israeli attacks have caused these people to go back over 50 years. There are no basic needs
10:34 covered. There is no food, no water, no fuel. Everything must be done manually as we have seen.
10:54 Now we will proceed to interview one of the Gaza TV's who is here
10:58 to see the situation in which they find themselves. As we can see, this person is
11:03 the one who is dedicating himself to knead the bread because there are no places to buy it
11:08 and they need to feed their families.
11:10 Could you tell us about the difficulties that you are facing here?
11:20 - Only God knows the extent of our suffering here. I had to gather and buy wood to make
11:29 bread to survive and to be able to help others to feed themselves. Everyone is equal. No one
11:34 is better or more important than anyone else. Today we are all equal in our poverty, our sadness,
11:39 our pain. There is no home here except from sadness, pain and suffering from the destructions
11:45 of houses, from the fallen martyrs, from the wounded. We are calling for security. Where is
11:50 our security? They sent us to move to the south and on the way they mobbed us all. Children,
11:55 women, old people. We don't know what to do. We only count on good our Lord.
12:00 - As you have been able to hear, this person has decided to take the flour that has been
12:08 provided to him and together with the members of his family to knead the bread to feed the
12:12 refugees who are in this place. As we have seen, the situation is quite critical. The only thing
12:18 that these people are asking for is to be able to live in freedom and to be able to return to
12:23 their homes, to resume their lives as they were before, even though that would be somewhat
12:28 complicated. But what Gazatis really want is for the war to end once and for all.
12:34 - In Palestine, dozens of innocent civilians, including children and women,
12:43 were virtually massacred this Saturday in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Umar-run
12:47 Al-Fakura school in Havalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. The school has been used as a
12:53 shelter for hundreds of families displaced as a result of the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
12:59 Initial reports estimate the number of casualties at as many as 200. According to medical sources,
13:04 dozens of victims were transported to the Indonesian hospital in northern Gaza,
13:09 which has already been operating at maximum capacity due to the fact that most of the
13:15 hospitals in northern Gaza have run out of service as a result of the Israeli aggression. Israeli
13:21 attacks have not ceased since October 7. Schools, hospitals, educational institutions and mosques
13:27 have been constantly targeted by Israeli bombardments.
13:35 Minister of Health Maya al-Khaila said on Sunday that the Israeli occupation is committing a
13:40 genocide against the entire healthcare system in the Gaza Strip, including hospitals, medical
13:45 doctors and patients. Speaking at a press conference, al-Khaila called on the United
13:50 Nations, international health organizations and the International Committee of the Red Cross
13:54 to exert pressure on Israel to allow the transport of the remaining children and patients from al-Shifa
14:00 Hospital in Gaza to hospitals in the West Bank or Egypt. She highlighted that no hospital in
14:05 Gaza has the capacity to accommodate the massive number of wounded on a non-stop Israeli bombardment.
14:11 The minister questioned Israel's rationale behind preventing the entry of medicines and depriving
14:17 patients of their right to receive treatment. Al-Khaila called for an immediate cessation of
14:23 the Israeli genocide in Gaza and the West Bank, demanding a halt to the targeting, shelling and
14:29 blockade of medical and healthcare facilities. In this context, the Palestinian Ministry of
14:38 Foreign Affairs condemned the evacuation and closure of the al-Shifa Hospital, where more
14:42 than 2,000 people were tortured, including patients, medical personnel and refugees,
14:47 who are now moving to southern Gaza. For their part, the Israeli occupation forces
14:52 surrounding the largest health center in Gaza continue with the deployment of tanks and troops
14:56 in search of Hamas members, while the Palestinian Islamist movement denies that they have any hideouts in the hospital.
15:03 Russian government sent a second shipment of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. An aircraft
15:13 of the Ministry of Emergency Situations took off this Saturday from Krosni Airport to Egypt with
15:18 the humanitarian shipment. The aid comprises mattresses, pillows, personal hygiene products,
15:23 food and baby food. The humanitarian cargo will be delivered to the Egyptian Red Crescent,
15:28 the organization in charge of the distribution in Gaza.
15:30 In Brazil, social movements held a sixth demonstration against Israel's genocide
15:40 committed against the Palestinian people. On this occasion, the protest took place in front
15:45 of the Israeli consulate in Sao Paulo. Demonstrators demanded an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
15:51 They also requested that the government of Lula da Silva break diplomatic relations with the state
15:55 of Israel because of the war crimes committed in Gaza. The rallies are part of a series of
16:00 demonstrations carried out in several parts of the world in order to stop the attacks in Gaza,
16:06 which started last October 7.
16:07 "We are calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire to stop the suffering in Gaza.
16:19 We recognize that this violence did not start on October 7, even though it was very tragic and
16:24 shocking, even though we have family, friends and acquaintances who were impacted on Israel.
