Transcript
00:00 Olon Jones had a natural talent for music but his blossoming singing career
00:05 was cut short when killers shot him and 15-year-old Ann Impesad outside this
00:10 shop at the corner of Skylar, Crescent and Emerald Circular in Bornhair
00:13 Gardens on Tuesday night just after 10 p.m.
00:17 He loved music. Olon loved music. He was so enchanted by his music and about getting, you know, in his words, he wants a
00:28 bus. He wanted to make it on the stage and he sang his songs and said that in the lyrics as well.
00:35 Olon's relatives dispelled reports by residents in the area that he was not
00:39 cared for. They said for a long time after his parents death he was taken
00:44 care of by them and only recently had gone his own way. It seemed like he
00:48 didn't have family and he didn't have love. It wasn't that. It definitely wasn't that.
00:53 He was so angry when we heard the news and when he didn't come back. The relatives said Olon
00:59 seemed to have turned a new leaf and with the help of many others went to
01:03 Mylat but at some point contrary to a claim by residents that he had graduated
01:08 he left the program abruptly. Him not returning to Mylat when he was supposed
01:13 to. I would have spoken to him and I said Olon you're throwing away your future.
01:17 You know you need to go back in. Mylat wanted to come back.
01:21 Right and he said he had to his reason for not going back is because he said he
01:25 had to see about his his house. The abandoned house that he was talking about.
01:30 Relatives said that Olon was making a living selling coconut water near the
01:34 shop in order to try and rebuild his once abandoned home on Kuku Drive and he
01:39 seemed a bit impatient that his singing career was not taking off fast enough.
01:43 Relatives said they had been hearing other things about Jones and were upset
01:47 that he had posed with a gang sign on the cover of one of his upcoming albums.
01:51 This is my brother when he was preparing to do the cover for his album and they
01:57 were taking photo shoots right. Yeah. He's holding up the sick sign. He didn't want
02:02 to be affiliated with negativity and the whatever it is but he was seeing that the
02:07 the artists and them in the area were being promoted and produced by these
02:11 these persons. Meanwhile the uncle of Olon Impasar told TV6 News that his
02:15 nephew wanted to become a farmer and cultivate land that his parents owned.
02:20 Investigators said he had to make any arrests in the killings. Mark Basant, TV6 News.
