00:03 - So speaking of millions and billions,
00:05 how about the state of New York
00:06 just continually breaking records in sports betting?
00:09 The number from what I saw here
00:10 that you sent out on social media
00:12 was $2 billion for October,
00:15 and knowing that half of that is going to tax,
00:17 what have we been waiting for all these years?
00:21 - Yeah, Craig, that is an incredible number.
00:24 New York continues to set the bar, first state,
00:26 since the repeal passed by 2018
00:28 to hit 2 billion in a monthly handle, obviously.
00:30 World Series going on, start of NBA season,
00:33 you add in all four sports, right?
00:35 We talked about that sports eclipse, right?
00:37 The time when all four sports were happening
00:40 on the same day for what, the 29th time, I think, in history.
00:43 So, you know, great, robust sporting calendar,
00:47 and then that leads to huge results, right?
00:49 And then I think it was $85 million
00:50 in tax revenue for education, right?
00:52 So that's really why the governor, Cuomo,
00:55 he got a lot of flack, certainly,
00:58 and his tenure didn't end in New York very well
01:00 for obvious reasons that have been reported,
01:02 but that 51% tax rate, as much as people wanna argue it,
01:05 I mean, it's huge money coming in
01:07 to help school kids in New York,
01:09 teachers, administrators, the whole nine yards here.
01:12 So yeah, unbelievable numbers to hit 2 billion.
01:14 I mean, what's next for the state?
01:16 I mean, now you've got Florida coming in,
01:18 can't wait to see those stats,
01:20 and how it rivals New York, right,
01:21 with just the robust, people betting millions of dollars
01:25 in Florida, right, just individuals,
01:27 let alone the entire state.
01:28 So yeah, New York's been king, we'll see how that goes,
01:31 but Joe Adabo, the senator there
01:34 that's been a huge gaming advocate,
01:35 has plans to try to get iGaming going,
01:39 and they think that could even be more money,
01:41 and these numbers are gonna be what they're presenting,
01:43 right, to voters and constituents
01:45 on why this should happen,
01:47 and why they could change the legislation,
01:49 try to add a bill, they'll put a bill out,
01:51 try to figure out how to make
01:53 the Hotel and Gaming Trades Council happy,
01:55 try to get those hotel workers,
01:57 you know, and those casino employees paid,
02:00 and make sure there's no cannibalization,
02:02 you know, studies say there isn't cannibalization
02:04 when the physical casinos,
02:07 when online comes in, you know,
02:08 the physical casinos can still do well,
02:09 so yeah, New York, we'll see if they add operators,
02:12 they could certainly look to do that, right,
02:13 Hard Rock now, maybe they wanna come in,
02:15 they have a casino bid with Steve Cohen,
02:18 do they wanna come into the online market,
02:20 you know, ESPN bets, not New York,
02:21 so could a couple of those companies come together
02:23 and say, hey, let's try to move this bill
02:25 to lower the tax rate for everybody,
02:27 and then get more operators in,
02:29 yeah, just a lot of good things going on in New York,
02:31 continue to set the bar,
02:32 and yeah, two billion is just a massive number,
02:34 and I think with NFL coming up,
02:35 and even, we haven't even hit playoff season,
02:37 maybe we get some, a few consecutive months of two billion,
02:39 it wouldn't be surprising,
02:41 now you got college basketball coming in,
02:42 you got college football playoff,
02:44 I mean, New York could do really well,
02:45 and you know, the market's growing,
02:46 there's no question about it,
02:47 the numbers back it up.
