00:02 We are now at the halfway point of this National Football League regular season,
00:07 where both teams we saw on the field last night at MetLife are now four and
00:11 four through nine weeks.
00:13 The Chargers dominant 27 to three over the New York Jets.
00:18 A big victory for LA, 27 to six, excuse me, the big victory for LA last night.
00:25 It wasn't pretty offensively, Donnie, but
00:27 the Bolts still easily cover as a three point favorite.
00:31 A small total that actually worked its way up north of 40 stays under.
00:35 The Jets under their team total of 18 and a half last night.
00:40 It was that Chargers defense, Donnie,
00:42 really leading the way to LA's fourth victory of the year, their second in a row.
00:47 >> Yeah, we had Dr.
00:47 Chow yesterday and what he was pointing out about this football game was the Jets
00:51 offensive line and how injured it was.
00:52 And boy, did that really show up in spades yesterday.
00:54 Take a look at Zach Wilson, who played the entirety of the ball game, Ben.
00:57 How about this?
00:58 Got sacked eight times in that game.
01:00 >> Yeah. >> By the way,
01:01 you talk about the Los Angeles blocking on their offensive line.
01:04 They also caught five sacks yesterday.
01:06 So it was a sack exchange yesterday between both of these teams, but
01:09 they weren't exchanging points.
01:10 The only team that was scoring points yesterday was the Chargers,
01:13 doing it on offense, defense, and also on special teams.
01:16 This leaves a lot to be desired for the Jets,
01:18 cuz I felt like I was on a little bit of an island yesterday saying, look,
01:21 I can't really back the Jets here.
01:23 I'll go with the Chargers, and we did the show yesterday,
01:25 minus three and a half in the morning.
01:26 We talked about how important that hook might be, and
01:28 actually didn't even turn out to be even all that important at all.
01:31 As this game was roughly over right away after 14-0 in the first quarter.
01:35 This is what we expected from the Jets, quite frankly.
01:38 Zach Wilson's not a great quarterback.
01:39 The offense does struggle, and if Brees Hall isn't hitting home runs here, Ben,
01:43 they're not gonna score very many points.
01:44 An easy victory for the Chargers yesterday.
01:47 >> DRS, both teams went three and out on their opening offensive possession of
01:51 the game.
01:52 The Chargers actually got the ball first to start off this football game, and
01:56 within two minutes, the Chargers scored.
01:59 Why? Because after the Jets go three and
02:01 out on their opening offensive drive, they punted away to Darius Davis,
02:05 who takes it all the way back to the house for a punt return touchdown.
02:09 Not only was Zach Wilson, Donnie, sacked eight times, he also fumbled three times.
02:14 He did recover one of them, but he lost two.
02:17 The Jets, in fact, lost three fumbles last night.
02:20 And we talked about that pressure that LA was going to provide on Zach Wilson
02:24 with the heads up from the field view at SICscore.com,
02:28 SportsInjuryCentralScore.com, and the wonderful work of Dr. David Chow and
02:34 his team, how banged up the offensive line was for gangrene.
02:37 Four of their five regular starters were going to be on the shelf or
02:41 dealing with a significant injury, and we had Joey Bosa get to Zach Wilson two and
02:47 a half times.
02:47 Khalil Mack had two sacks, Tuli Tuipolotu had two sacks as well.
02:52 Donnie, all of those guys last night had a price that you could have bet to record
02:58 a sack, and you would have been incredibly profitable.
03:00 I know, because I bet Joey Bosa at minus 102 to record a sack.
03:06 Khalil Mack had the best price at minus 158.
03:09 Tuipolotu had a price that was plus money that would have cashed there as well.
03:14 All three of those outstanding up front defensive players for
03:17 LA recording at least one sack last night.
03:22 And Donnie, when you look at the numbers, Zach Wilson was okay, but
03:25 the New York Jets defense keeps them in yet another football game until it's too late.
03:31 But look at the numbers for Justin Herbert.
03:33 It wasn't like he threw for 300 yards that led to a three touchdown win for LA.
03:39 Just 136 yards, Donnie, threw the air last night,
03:42 an average per attempt of four and a half yards per pop.
03:45 >> It just goes to show you there's three facets of a football game.
03:49 Play really good defense, play special teams, the other 33% is offense.
03:53 If you were coming into this football game, Ben, and you told me, by the way,
03:55 Herbert's not gonna throw a touchdown pass only for 136 yards.
03:59 Man, that means Eckler probably went off on the ground.
04:01 No, he only got 47 yards.
04:02 Your leading receiver does what he does, Keenan Allen, eight catches for
04:05 77 yards, but a blowout victory by three touchdowns here for the Chargers.
04:09 I don't wanna say it was fool's gold,
04:11 like watching the Jets go on a win streak here, but we knew it wasn't going to last.
04:14 And the whole point last night was, all right, typically, and
04:17 I use the anecdote here in Major League Baseball, what do you bet, Ben?
04:20 Pitchers on the mound.
04:21 I don't care who the lineup is, who's the better pitcher here?
04:23 I'm gonna roll with that.
04:25 Last night it came down to so simple of an analysis was like, well, look,
04:28 Herbert is really talented and can play well in big moments.
04:30 Zach Wilson, you're hoping, is just competent here.
04:33 And sometimes that's too much to overcome.
04:34 And quite frankly, that showed a lot of respect, that line at three and
04:37 a half for the Chargers, who came in under 500 on the road on Monday Night Football.
04:41 Not playing great here, and
04:42 the Jets put together a decent season here as of late.
04:45 It was a good performance by the Chargers, but again, fool's gold with the Jets.
04:48 Now you look at it as fool's gold here with the Chargers.
04:50 Hey, great, they beat the Jets, they're four and four.
04:52 Is their season turned around?
04:54 I don't think so.
04:55 They're too talented even to be four and four at this point here, but
04:57 that's a good showing on Monday Night Football to get those vibes back where,
05:00 hey, you know what?
05:01 Even if our offense isn't clicking on all cylinders, which typically, Ben,
05:04 they need to win and that's the way they do it.
05:06 That's nice to see a six on the board for the Jets saying, you know what?
05:09 We played really well on defense and we can win defensive struggles if we need to.
