Multiple days of wintry weather in store from the Northwest to the Northern Plains

By the end of this week, some of the northernmost parts of the U.S. could see more than a foot of snow.

00:10 - Well, if you're going by last winter,

00:11 you're probably thinking it will be

00:12 because it was such a long winter last winter.

00:14 October's snow is falling in southwest Montana and beyond.

00:18 And it sounds like not everyone is happy about it.

00:21 To see just how much snow we're expecting,

00:23 we are joined now by Michelle McLeod.

00:26 And Michelle, this is the storm that just won't give in.

00:29 I mean, we're talking about a days long event here

00:32 with an upper level low.

00:33 So it's not just the snow comes and goes,

00:35 it's like, when's the next round coming?

00:37 - You know, I'm gonna take the energy from the guy who,

00:41 you know, they say, keep that same energy.

00:43 I'm keeping that guy same energy.

00:44 - Did he have low energy or high energy?

00:46 - Oh, he was not, this was not his, he was mad at it.

00:50 Now this is a taste of winter.

00:51 Kevin for that man, they are not, he's not getting a taste.

00:54 They are spooning that winter into that man's mouth.

00:57 - I understand, you know, I was just thinking

00:59 a few minutes ago, it's October

01:02 and they're getting sizable snow.

01:03 Like this isn't like, you know,

01:05 you're running the mill three, four inches that we get

01:06 when we're in the Northeast or portions of the Midwest.

01:09 Like they're already getting on eight, 10,

01:11 even more inches of snow in some portions of Montana.

01:14 So when he's like, this is gonna be a long winter.

01:17 I thought to myself, like, so you and I,

01:20 hey, but there are people that love it.

01:22 And I'm so happy for you.

01:24 You're gonna be living your best life.

01:26 You're gonna have blizzard like conditions

01:27 for some winter wonderland.

01:29 This is for you if this is your cup of tea.

01:31 And on top of that, if you like the cold,

01:33 'cause there are people that like it cold,

01:35 you are gonna love the forecast for Thursday morning

01:38 with acuweather real feels in places like

01:39 Helena and Montana and Billings, zero to 10 degrees.

01:44 But wait, there's more Friday morning.

01:46 That cold is gonna expand two portions of the North Central.

01:50 So not only is Montana and Wyoming getting good on it,

01:52 but also North and South Dakota

01:55 with places like Helena seeing acuweather real feels.

01:58 Get this, 10 degrees below zero to zero.

02:02 And then you see that light blue straddling

02:05 North and South Dakota, same thing.

02:07 10 below to zero with the acuweather real feel temps.

02:09 Now Bismarck, Rappaport City, Casper, Scottsbluff,

02:12 you're looking at your acuweather real feel zero

02:15 to 10 degrees.

02:16 Let's take a look at some of the snow.

02:18 So we're doing this from tonight

02:19 and we're gonna end things Friday night.

02:22 And who's really getting in on the snow?

02:25 Like yes, portions of Salt Lake City.

02:27 It makes sense, it's the mountains.

02:28 You're absolutely looking at a foot to a foot and a half.

02:31 But same thing, Rapid City, that's easily

02:34 almost a foot to a foot and a half of snow.

02:36 And in the purple, well stay tuned.

02:39 I got a pixel quarterly of that

02:40 so I can see exactly how much that is

02:42 'cause that's gonna be quite a bit of snow

02:44 in the Northeastern portion of North Dakota.

02:47 And they're not the only ones that are gonna see snow.

02:49 There's gonna be another wave of snow coming through.

02:52 And so now this time it's going to be portions of Colorado

02:57 all the way into Minnesota.

02:59 This is late Friday into Sunday getting in on snow.

03:03 Let me show you what things are gonna look like.

03:05 I've got some pause points, but what I really wanna do

03:07 is just kind of fast forward through it

03:08 in my last 20 seconds and show you

03:10 what this is gonna look like.

03:11 So that first system comes through Friday.

03:13 Check out what happens Friday night.

03:16 See that second system starting to come through?

03:17 Remember, this is gonna be Friday night into Sunday

03:21 and you're gonna see that other stripe of snow.

03:22 So I've got the first system ongoing.

03:25 Second system, that's gonna happen in Denver

03:28 all the way into Minnesota.
