00:00 It's getting going here folks.
00:01 We do have lots of winter advisories
00:03 and warnings in place from North
00:05 Dakota back into Montana all
00:07 the way back to the Cascades.
00:09 We have lots of winter storm
00:11 warnings, advisories, watches.
00:13 Snow will be occurring.
00:14 There'll be wind.
00:15 There'll be tough travel conditions
00:16 in all these areas in blue here,
00:18 so something to keep in mind.
00:20 Also on the southern edge of the storm,
00:22 you've got a high wind watch down
00:24 here in Southern Wyoming.
00:25 Wyoming is the windiest state
00:26 in the Union, if you will,
00:28 and we're going to have very
00:30 strong winds there this week.
00:31 I want to show you what's going to be
00:33 happening here with this taste of
00:35 winter through Thursday night.
00:36 So for the next gosh 48 hours or so,
00:38 we're going to see blizzard like
00:40 conditions for some in some of these
00:41 interior Western states like Montana,
00:43 Idaho, Wyoming,
00:43 and eventually into the Northern Plains.
00:46 As we head over the next 48 hours,
00:48 a very cold air will follow the storm as well,
00:51 which can be dangerous if you get stuck.
00:53 Meantime,
00:54 the forecast for a place like Helena,
00:56 Montana.
00:56 Boy, this is cold and it is snowy.
00:58 You will have snow that will pile up
01:00 over the next couple of days and look
01:02 at these high temperatures in Helena.
01:04 Only in the 20s this time of year
01:06 you should be in the 50s.
01:08 Well, that is a big big difference.
01:10 How about these last few hours of rain?
01:12 Yeah, we've got some rain at the
01:14 lower elevations from the coast to
01:16 the I-5 corridor out in the West,
01:18 but it's snowing in the Washington
01:19 Cascades and the Oregon Cascades
01:21 and also into the northern Rockies.
01:23 The snow is making its way onto the
01:25 high plains of Montana as well,
01:27 where we are expecting quite a bit of snow.
01:29 Now this is a snowfall forecast to get this.
01:32 This takes us through Friday because
01:34 this is a long duration storm.
01:36 OK, so we're going to be seeing areas
01:38 around say much of Montana right
01:40 through central Montana that is a
01:42 zone here of 12 to 18 inches and we
01:45 have an accurate local storm max of
01:47 30 inches which would be most likely
01:49 to occur in some of those Montana
01:51 locations and down toward Yellowstone.
01:53 National Park.
01:54 So you see where the snow is going to
01:56 fall it's going to be in these areas
01:58 where we have a lot of these winter
02:01 storm watches and warnings,
02:02 winter weather advisories,
02:02 and remember there'll be a lot of
02:04 wind with these storms as well,
02:06 so we gotta take it very careful
02:08 traveling this week in the West.
