Following amber weather warnings and reports of flooding throughout the city, the council has revealed it received almost 100 calls from affected residents.

Footage circulating online shows roads being submerged and locals walking through knee-deep water levels.

The council said they worked round the clock in the difficult conditions to keep drains clear and prevent blockages from being developed.

Next, residents from a tower block in Paisley have been urged to remove “combustible materials” from communal spaces following a safety inspection.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service identified concerns in Hamilton Court and Renfrewshire Council has now wrote to residents asking them to remove objects such as furniture, mobility scooters, rugs and ornaments.

And in other news, a new report has highlighted the extent of Strathclyde University’s historic links to slavery.

An in-house investigation found that four presidents of The Anderson Institution were enslavers, identifying the individuals involved and where the money generated from the trade went.
