00:00 Yeah.
00:01 Congratulations on the wins. How would you assess that one today?
00:07 I feel like if you look at our performances this season and our matches, we score loads of goals all the time.
00:14 And I think we showed it again tonight. We're such an attacking team.
00:17 But on the other hand, we need to be more compact defensively because we can't keep conceding as many goals as we do.
00:23 And that's not just the defensive unit, that's everyone.
00:25 And it's a big thing that Gaffer keeps mentioning. We need to be better at it.
00:30 So as much as we love attacking football and scoring goals, which is a massive positive,
00:34 because if you score goals you win games, we also need to look at the other side of stuff and get better at that as well.
00:39 It's obviously a very young team out there today.
00:42 Do you really feel that kind of showed in the performance, that kind of energy in the attacking play that we saw, especially in the second half?
00:50 Yeah, you could say that. But as well, in all the other games we've played, when the other boys have played, the older boys, we've scored goals.
00:57 So I think it would be unfair to say that. But at the same time, I think all of us out there had a point to prove in a positive way,
01:05 because we're all fighting for places. And I think we've all done ourselves a favour and put in a real good performance out there tonight.
01:12 Scott mentioned at half-time he gave a few players a hard time at the break after the first half.
01:18 Did that really have an effect on the players and the way you improved things in the second half and turned the game around?
01:24 Yeah, definitely. We work on stuff in training and if we don't do it on a match day, there's no point of working it in training.
01:33 So of course, the gaffer's not going to be happy. And right and all, we just have to start listening, as he says.
01:41 And he knows what he's talking about, because I think since he's come in, he's done unbelievable for us.
01:47 And it's such a joy to play in this system. So he clearly knows what he wants and what he wants to do.
01:53 So we need to start. I think we have bought into it, but even the more little things, more so defensively, if we can do that,
02:00 as he says, we can really shock a few people this year. And I think we already have.
02:04 And how would you assess your own performance? I thought you did really well up front today.
02:08 You were able to play yourself really well with Loloz, especially in the second half.
02:11 So how would you say you performed?
02:13 I thought I'd done all right. Yeah, like I said, we all had a point to prove out there.
02:19 I've had chats with the manager, with Daisy, with Larry, and just saying how much I want to play.
02:28 And I was saying to him I was looking forward to this game because I didn't have a full pre-season this year.
02:35 So in my mindset, I was looking forward to this game. I knew I was going to get my chance.
02:40 And I said that to the gaffer about two weeks ago. So in my head, I was building up to this game.
02:46 And I just hope I showed what I could do in where I love playing.
02:51 And obviously it was the 13th goal in two games that was scored tonight.
02:55 I mean, obviously it's entertaining for the fans. Obviously fans would love to see goals.
02:58 As you as a player and as a manager, do you want to see maybe a bit more tight at the back and concede fewer goals?
03:05 Or how do you see it as a player?
03:07 No, definitely. You can't score four goals, five goals every game. It's just not possible.
03:12 So if we want to do big things, as we want to do as a team, we're going to have to get better defensively and start conceding less goals.
03:20 And as I said, the gaffer knows what he wants. We're going to have to listen to what he wants to do.
03:25 And if we do that, we should be good.
03:29 And how do you see the competition itself? How important is it for the players?
03:32 And how important is it to go as far as you can? Obviously, it's one that you probably haven't historically done too well in.
03:38 So is it one you're really looking to maybe improve on that and potentially get to Wembley?
03:41 Yeah, I think speaking with a few boys about it, it's a great pathway to Wembley.
03:48 You get out of the group and I don't know how many more games it is, three or four, and you're at Wembley.
03:52 And as I said, the competition for places is so high that when we get put in these games,
03:59 we all want to show why we want to play in the league on Saturday and Tuesday.
04:03 So we're all going to give it our all.
04:05 I don't think anyone out there today went out there and was in second gear.
04:10 I thought we was all full throttle. And if we're going to win against League One teams,
04:15 I don't see why we can't go and beat Sutton and beat Estavillo.
04:19 Thank you.
04:20 Jack, I was going to just mention, you said about the competition for places.
04:24 Scott just came in and mentioned about the togetherness as well.
04:27 How good is the balance between the two when you're in training to, OK, you're fighting for places,
04:33 but at the same time, it's a really good atmosphere amongst the squad?
04:36 I think that's down to the people we've brought in.
04:40 When I say we, I mean the people who are up there, like the Gaffer.
04:44 There's such a difference from the team morale from last year to this year,
04:49 because obviously I came in January, so I saw it.
04:52 I just feel like we want to be like a family as much as we are a team.
04:57 And I think competition can be tough sometimes if he gets picked ahead of you.
05:04 But at the end of the day, we all want the same thing.
05:06 We all want to win on a Saturday. And cruelty comes first.
05:09 It's not about the individual.
05:11 So if the Gaffer thinks he should play, we've got to respect his decision.
05:15 And we've got to win together on Saturday.
05:17 Getting a very good result against a League One side tonight.
05:21 How much confidence does that provide you as a player that you can sort of match the higher up position on paper
05:26 and you can really sort of raise your own game?
05:30 Yeah, as I said, I think we've already shocked a few people this year.
05:33 I think everyone was saying stuff about us getting the lowest points tally in League Two.
05:37 It's just ridiculous.
05:39 I think a lot of them people have gone quiet.
05:43 On the first day, we beat Bradford, who were supposed to be up there.
05:48 Went toe-to-toe with Salford, got a draw.
05:52 And obviously League One, the opposition tonight, I don't know how many changes they made,
05:55 but I don't think it was that many.
05:57 And we've again attacked them and we've shown what we're capable of.
06:01 And I think we're really good as a squad this year.
06:04 On to Saturday, Newport are home.
06:06 You've got back-to-back home games as well coming up.
06:09 How do you assess that now? You're back to winning ways.
06:12 So is there obviously a lot more confidence going into that game as well?
06:15 Yeah, definitely. I feel like we were all gutted on Saturday away at Stockport.
06:21 We came from 2-0 down to go 3-2 up.
06:23 But even then, I think it shows our character this year.
06:25 We want to hold on to that.
06:27 I think maybe in previous years, it would have been happy with a point away at Stockport.
06:30 But the way the gaffer wants to play and the gaffer's ambitions,
06:33 we were all devastated with that point.
06:35 I think that just goes to show what we're trying to do.
06:37 So yeah, as you said, we've got a Newport Saturday.
06:39 We won tonight, so it's just build momentum in the league now
06:43 and hopefully get back-to-back home wins
06:45 because I think it's a difficult place for people to come.
06:48 I don't think a lot of people like coming to Crawley,
06:50 so we've got a good record here.
