Sussex World reporter Sam Morton gives his thoughts on Brighton's 4-2 defeat at Manchester United.
Transcript
00:00Hello, this is Sam Morton, a reporter from Sussex World. I'm outside Old Trafford where Brighton have unfortunately lost today. It was a 4-2 defeat in the end and it was a really brilliant match actually, really entertaining stuff and Brighton were quite sloppy for a lot of the match and were deservedly behind at half time.
00:22But after the third goal, Man Utd made some changes and Brighton also brought on some fresh players and the momentum completely swung and Brighton managed to get two goals back and it really looked like they were going to stage an unbelievable comeback.
00:39But it wasn't to be as Brian Abumo scored his second of the evening deep into injury time to seal the victory but Herzler in his press conference pointed out there was just far too much sloppiness really for Brighton.
00:53Kept giving the ball away and you can't really get away with that really against the Man Utd side that's really improved in recent weeks and Amrum's starting to get the best out of his players.
01:03It's three wins in a row now for them and they've ended a run of three consecutive home defeats against Brighton so it was definitely a big win for Man Utd especially after obviously the win against Liverpool backing it up today was really important for them and for Brighton it was a disappointing one because they came in good spirits too after that win against Newcastle knowing they had some great wins against the biggest clubs this season but it didn't go to plan for them today.
01:31There were some bright sparks, Danny Welbeck again on the score sheet as we expected he would be against his old team and United he does another goal against them and it was a superb free kick and it's five goals in his last four games now for Welbeck so it's really great stuff for him.
01:46Kostoulas off the bench scoring a header from James Milner's corner was a real bright spark as well and potentially could have been the decisive moment in getting Brighton back into the game but as I say they left themselves a bit too much to do.
01:59Tommy Watson came off the bench and he was really lively and looking forward to seeing more from him he definitely deserves a start so we'll be interested to see how Hurtsler reacts to this defeat I'm sure there'll be some home truth said and won't be able to be so sloppy in future matches so for all the player ratings and match reaction see sussexworld.co.uk
