00:07Daleks first came on TV and ever since then I always thought to myself I've got
00:12to have one of them and when I retired I had a bit more time on my hands and a
00:17little bit more money and joined a group called projectdalek.com where you get
00:25the basic design for the Dalek a lot of their designs I couldn't follow because
00:31my brain doesn't work that way but I'm good with drawing my own plans so I made
00:38some plans up and we have what we've got here now which is what's called a
00:42custom-built Dalek it means it's a Dalek but it doesn't conform to Daleks that
00:47you've seen on TV which made a lot easier for me and in all honesty made a lot
00:54more enjoyable for people who see it because they're not seeing the same old
00:58Dalek every time only been running around for about the last oh last year as being
01:06a full-time care for my mother I couldn't really get out as often as I
01:10would like to but mother passed away nine weeks ago she would have just said to me
01:16you get on with it go out and enjoy yourself and that's what I do and I
01:19love every minute of it it can take me half an hour to get a hundred yards with
01:24people stopping to take photographs and it's fantastic I can go out at half past
01:30five in the evening set up along South Sea there for just gone six and not get
01:36home till half past eleven at night enjoy every minute of it it's wonderful a
01:42normal reaction is wow that's fantastic is it from Star Wars that that's the most
01:52common one people think it's from Star Wars no but joy and excitement is the main
01:59thing and it scares some little kids it scares some adults mainly poor ladies but
02:08apart from that I do have a mic that I set up and if there's a young child
02:13nearby that's getting a little bit anxious that I just talk in my mic and
02:18the Dalek says hello what's your name then the Dalek gets the child's name and
02:23then the Dalek talks directly to the child to calm them down he goes along
02:27playing old-time music from the anything from the 1950s 60s 70s and one of his
02:35favorite ones at the moment is born to be wild and the song starts off for the
02:41motorbike revving up and when people hear a motorbike revving up and look around
02:46and see a Dalek you know it's good and I get things like people looking out of
02:54windows from blocks of flats buses stopped so that you know people can take
02:59pictures I'll get pulled over by the police anything anything in anyone and
03:07it's wonderful my claim to fame is I built a scale model of the wreck of the
03:12Mary Rose and it's a model as it is now in the museum but I actually made the
03:20model and had it presented to the Royal Naval Museum in Portsmouth 30 years ago or
03:25more and it was in the Royal Naval Museum before the Mary Rose even got to build
03:32it he's more famous and infamous at the moment and out of 95% of the people that
03:39I asked have they seen a Dalek around the majority of them say they've either seen
03:44it heard about it or seen on Facebook or somewhere else and that's marvelous
03:51because it is it's just marvelous so many people know it and there's so many I'll
03:56get messages from some so many people saying where and when
