00:00 (upbeat music)
00:02 - We ran a clip yesterday that was so obvious
00:08 that he wanted out of there.
00:09 And I think what happened was behind the scenes,
00:13 last night, I think he called his owner friend
00:17 down in Houston, Crane, and said,
00:18 "Get me the hell out of here."
00:20 And they did the deal.
00:22 I don't believe, now I'll believe it when I see it.
00:24 I don't think there's a ton of money involved in this one.
00:27 I think it's the Astros' problem.
00:29 And to get a guy like Verlander,
00:32 there's no way they're giving up their top two prospects.
00:35 And then they're gonna make the Mets pay the bill?
00:40 I don't think so.
00:41 I think to get Verlander, now remember,
00:43 they're a half game out.
00:45 The Astros are gonna win the West.
00:47 They're gonna win the division.
00:48 And they're going back to the playoffs.
00:50 And they're gonna go on a deep run like they always do,
00:53 'cause that guy is still great.
00:56 And frankly, in my opinion, he's way better than Scherzer
00:59 because he's a horse.
01:01 Scherzer gets tired.
01:03 Verlander can pitch deep into games.
01:06 And into October, deep and not get tired.
01:08 Scherzer putters out.
01:10 And the guy just absolutely dies out in October.
01:14 Everybody hits him.
01:15 - Verlander, 40 years old, only made 16 starts for the Mets.
01:20 He goes back to Houston,
01:22 where of course he has been the last few years.
01:24 Will try to win another championship down there.
01:27 Now we have about two hours and 45 minutes
01:30 until the deadline.
01:31 So this whole rest of coast to coast here,
01:34 we got things that could happen.
01:36 Maybe the Mets do more.
01:38 Scotty, it's possible.
01:39 I actually did see the polar bear floating around there
01:43 a little bit this morning.
01:45 That maybe they would look to move him too.
01:47 - There's no way they're trading him.
01:48 - That's really tearing it down.
01:50 He signed through the end of next year.
01:52 - There's no way they're getting rid of him.
01:53 - That would be really tearing it down if they did that.
01:55 You never know what can happen here.
01:58 - How do you sell tickets?
02:01 How do you sell tickets if you get rid of him?
02:03 There's no other reason.
02:04 No one pays money.
02:06 Let's face it.
02:08 I'd say 3% of the people buy tickets to watch Lindor.
