00:24 she said she received checks ranging from a penny
00:26 to 81 cents in return for its streaming deal with Hulu
00:30 and called residuals a huge issue.
00:33 - We're in incredibly fortunate positions
00:35 as working actors and having been on shows
00:37 that found tremendous success in one way or another.
00:42 But the fact that we were on these shows
00:47 and that many actors in our position for years,
00:50 years before us,
00:52 were able to live off of residuals
00:55 and at least pay their bills.
00:56 - Meanwhile, Lowe's says she hasn't received
00:58 anything substantial from Disney
01:00 for "Scandal" streaming deals with Netflix
01:02 and more recently, Hulu.
01:04 SAG-AFTRA said the alliance of motion picture
01:06 and television producers rejected its new proposal
01:09 in which cast share in the revenue generated
01:11 when their performances are on streaming platforms,
01:14 which would allow actors to share in the success
01:16 of high-performing shows.
01:18 Actors still receive residuals from their shows
01:20 re-airing on broadcast networks.
01:22 However, in the peak TV era,
01:24 broadcast networks have shifted to year-round originals,
01:27 including lower cost unscripted projects,
01:30 rather than opting to air repeats of scripted episodes.
