RELICS OF ST BERNADETTE VISIT CARFIN ON THE GROTTOS CENTENARY
Carfin Grotto host the relics of St Bernadette from 24th September until 2nd October 2022, the only Scottish venue to receive the relics. This will coincide with the centenary of the Grotto on 2nd October. The bishops of Scotland along with the Papal Nuncio will celebrate the centenary with us. I asked the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland to formally and officially declare the Grotto to be‘The National Marian Shrine of Scotland’.They will do so at the centenary Mass.

Carfin Grotto is located in the village of Carfin, on the outskirts of Motherwell.
Postal Address: St Francis Xavier's Church, Taylor Avenue, Carfin, ML1 5AJ
Parking Facilities:
Parking is available at both the Parish Church, accessed by Taylor Avenue, and at the main entrance of the Grotto next to the Pilgrimage Centre, accessed by Newarthill Road. Please note parking is extremely limited and car parking at the front of the Grotto will restricted for blue badge holders as a priority. The carpark at the parish church will also have Blue Badge parking available as well as other limited spaces. Please follow the advise of the stewards. It is also recommended to use public transport if possible.
Travelling by Car:
Carfin Grotto is easily accessed by car and is relatively close to both the M8 & M74 motoroways. For direction, use the map below.
Travelling by Train:
Carfin train station is located directly across from Carfin Grotto and is about a five minute walk from the Parish Church. There is a regular rail service from Glasgow and Edinburgh which stops at Carfin.
Travelling by Bus:
The 254 (Newarthill to Motherwell) bus regularly passes the Grotto.
