Legislation is expected to be put in place to regulate the scrap iron industry, but in the interim, a serious crackdown through stringent policies is being initiated by the T&T Scrap Iron Dealers Association to lead the charge.
This follows a meeting between the Association and the government on Wednesday in a bid to eradicate the rampant copper theft that is occurring throughout the country.
