Melaka's Chetti community in Gajah Berang conduct a ritual called Bhogi Parachu ancestral prayers, a day before the harvest festival of Ponggal. The ritual incorporates Malay, Chinese and Indian elements in which banana leaves will be filled with their ancestors’ favourite food – including nasi lemak.
