Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says suggestions that his daughter, Nurul Izzah, should take over as Selangor Mentri Besar are personal opinions and not something he has knowledge of or has discussed.

Anwar said that the proposal, reportedly expressed by current Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, was never raised with him.

00:18current Selangor Mentri Besar, Datuk Seri Amiruddin Sha'ari. He told reporters this after a dinner
00:25with the Malaysian diaspora on Friday night. The PKR president was also asked about Amiruddin's
00:31readiness to take on federal responsibilities. Anwar replied that there was no rush, noting that
00:38the next election is still some time away. The discussion surfaced after Amiruddin, in a recent
00:44Keluar Sekejab podcast, said he strongly agreed when asked if Nurul Iza should be given the opportunity
00:50to lead the Selangor government. Amiruddin said he had directly conveyed the idea to Nurul Iza,
00:56adding that the decision ultimately rests with her. He said the move could provide a landing for her
01:02without creating perceptions of nepotism. The Selangor MB, who is also Gombak MP,
01:08also indicated that he is ready to move to the federal level if required.
