USS Jason Dunham to visit Riga
The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109) arrived in Riga, Latvia, for a scheduled port visit July 12, 2015. Jason Dunham’s presence in Latvia reaffirms to regional partners and NATO allies that the U.S. Navy shares a commitment to strengthen ties while working toward mutual goals of promoting peace and stability in the Baltic region. USS Jason Dunham, homeported in Norfolk, is conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe. The Arleigh Burke-class of guided missile destroyers (DDGs) is the United States Navy's first class of destroyer built around the Aegis Combat System and the SPY-1D multi-function Passive electronically scanned array radar.
