Estonian farmers demand the government support.
Estonian farmers brought tractors today on the square of Toompea, requiring further strengthen measures to combat the crisis in the agricultural sector. For example, milk prices in Estonia decreased by 29% during the year. Procurement price of milk in July was equal to 24 cents per kilogram, while the EU average price was 32 cents. Farmers require 50 million euros of compensation from the budget, otherwise big number of Estonian farms many come to bankruptcy. The reason for this dramatic drop in the value of agricultural production – Russian retaliatory sanctions against the EU.
