The right-wing opposition in Ecuador's largest and wealthiest city Guayaquil, headed by Mayor Jaime Nebot, has called a mass demonstration today against President Rafael Correa's proposed inheritance and capital gains taxes. While Correa has temporarily suspended the two taxes aimed at wealth redistribution and called for a national dialogue, Nebot refuses to participate in the discussion and demands that the measures be permanently withdrawn.
