The vocabulary around kitchens is quite vast and this lesson is sure to teach you new words. These are words that will be useful to understand and master if you wish to be around a library or anywhere with books. Hello everyone, in this new TOEFL & IELTS Vocabulary lesson, we are going to go back to the kitchen. That's right, the kitchen. I am well aware that many of you have seen a lot of vocabulary around the kitchen in beginner lesson (words such as knife and fork come to mind), but this time around, we'll bring it up a notch for a little bit harder vocabulary.
Ready? Here we go:
To peel: To strip the skin of something
Bring to a boil: To heat a liquid to the point of bubbling up and giving off vapor
To simmer: To remain at just below the boiling point
To thaw: Become soft/liquid with warmth, unfreeze
To stir: Motion to mix ingredients together
