TOEFL & IELTS Vocabulary - Airports
Hello everyone, welcome to this new lesson of TOEFL & IELTS Vocabulary! In this lesson, we will cover common words you will hear around an airport. This will be especially useful for you if you plan on traveling any time soon! Here we go:
Luggage/Baggage: These 2 words mean the same thing and they both mean your belongings packed in suit cases. The one you hear will depend on where you are.
Gate: A gate can mean a lot of things, but in an airport, it's the entrance to your flight. In airports, gates have numbers (and sometimes letters), so be sure to find yours.
Passport: Also known as your "travel documents", in airports, you are sure to be asked for it many times to confirm your identity.
Boarding pass: A word you will very likely never encounter outside an airport, it means a permit to go through your flight, once you have checked-in your luggage using your flight ticket.
Delayed: The dreaded word. It's a fancy word for "late" and is used whenever your flight will not be there on time
