00:00We transformed this narrow and difficult-to-access outdoor space into a pool of less than 10 square meters.
00:05This video shows the plan, the constraints, the solutions chosen, and the before and after results.
00:13We're going to focus on this outdoor development that you have right here, which will specialize in this area.
00:18We're right here, where the house is, and we have a double access path.
00:22stairs.
00:23A very constrained site. We arrive from here, right there, on a large ledge.
00:33A small entrance leading to a small terrace, a garden extension all on the same level, we'll call the level
00:41zero.
00:42There is also a lower level which is served by a double staircase.
00:45There are several levels.
00:48The first one is at zero, the second one goes down a little, and the other one ends in
00:53down.
00:54On the bottom one, we're at -100.
00:57The middle one is 105.
01:00So logically, minus 100 from this level, minus 105 from this one.
01:08And here I have to come right here, level zero as well.
01:10There is a correspondence between the different levels.
01:15This part, which I am pointing out to you right here, is not suitable for building a pond.
01:20So we have an offset to integrate.
01:22Another constraint is that we have a large nitrate-covered bay window in the lower part, just after the stairs.
01:27So we can't just reimplant it whenever we want.
01:28We will remove it, but we will rework it by reimplementing it, taking this constraint into account.
01:33We have our planter here, we say we're going to keep it, which has very good value and which is
01:37Very well done.
01:38Then, we will also place them completely on the stairs and the planter.
01:49Our low wall needs to be removed; the intermediate part, as well as its extension, is the rounded part.
01:54We clear the slate, we create a nice clean space to build on peacefully.
01:58We're going to create an access point to a manhole here, since we have a traffic flow that passes right there.
02:04Our traffic flow is consistent and will remain fluid between levels, a bit like this.
02:10To be reworked accordingly.
02:12In terms of the network, we have everything connected to the house here, water and electricity.
02:17Which means that, naturally, the area of our basin installation is this one.
02:21We'll also have to relearn our technical side.
02:24We'll have to create a project that takes into account its elements and a consistency in the face, the
02:29function and cost, and very restricted access.
02:33A little cleaning up and we'll move on.
02:38Our house is still this one and access is through here.
02:43We have difficult access, as Mathieu said, so everything will be done by hand for this project.
02:48We will split our level zero to rework this entire level in order to have daily use.
03:00We will first structure the space to integrate our circulation and to see what is left for the
03:09basin.
03:10The pathway has been laid out and the height of the stairs has been adjusted to provide a comfortable gerombe (a type of climbing structure).
03:17because it will be used daily by this family.
03:22We will also have the installation of the pool,
03:26with a distance at the fence level, at the cadastral level,
03:33with the installation of the technical room and the gardening area.
03:38Already, the three spaces are taking shape.
03:41So we have our pool, which is almost a square,
03:46which is therefore fifty, which is rather central.
03:51So where the basin is, we are at level zero.
03:55We are maintaining a pleasant passageway, both in terms of the stairs,
03:59than in terms of the route, to get to the technical room.
04:03of 80.
04:05Our pool measures 240 by 220.
04:13So we have a nice space taking shape.
04:16At the level of the landings, the rounded corners, the angles,
04:19We are still managing to maintain some traffic flow.
04:25As I was saying earlier, it's quite comfortable for accessing the bottom.
04:29Therefore, the work on the stairs is important.
04:32since we have land available,
04:35Given the constraints, we will play with the levels.
04:38to ensure smooth traffic flow in all areas.
04:42We also add plants,
04:45rather rustic, rather susceptible to frost,
04:49and also drought-resistant, such as formium, fotinia, pirovsia.
04:55We will also have topics in the article description.
05:02As this space becomes somewhat more mineral,
05:06So this allows us to also bring some freshness to this space which will be used.
05:12So we have a lovely terrace, and the traffic flow works,
05:15local access, a basin,
05:17and we are also reworking these steps which are a little bit crooked.
05:21So we need to align them to have a nice, level surface.
05:25and therefore with the square look, which Mathieu was talking about at the beginning.
05:33Once the project has been approved by the owners,
05:35We cleaned it up, taking into account the real constraints.
05:37The technology, the traffic flow, the heights,
05:39and all the manual labor required to make this project truly feasible.
05:44If you also have a development project,
05:46Archie Working can assist you.
05:48The link is in the description.
05:50Previously, this space was a garden.
05:52but without any real use value, outside of circulation.
05:55After the demolition and earthworks,
05:57The foundations have therefore been completed.
05:58The basin is entirely constructed of masonry.
05:59particularly due to difficult access and security issues.
06:02The structure has been validated by the structural engineer.
06:04additional cost but largely offset by security
06:06and insurance coverage.
06:09The stairs are in place and the concrete slab is poured.
06:13Then, we leave the necessary time for it to dry.
06:15The technical room is built as a continuation of the existing structure.
06:18for visual harmony,
06:19and close to the pool to optimize everyday use
06:22and reduce heat loss.
06:23Cost not to be overlooked.
06:25Next come the coatings,
06:26Rendered on walls, home coverage,
06:28travertine stone and a few touches of low-colored spade.
06:31Before and after Marquand,
06:33which transforms a difficult terrain
06:34into a real swimming pool for the summer period.
06:37Tell us in the comments how you would have designed this outdoor space.
06:39And what choice would you have made?
