00:00Though the President has too many items on his plate and daily work schedule,
00:04his persistence and determination to see the swindlers and swipers of billions in public funds
00:09by way of the flood control scam held into account has never waned.
00:14Our Kenneth Paciente has more.
00:18President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. remains serious and focused on the issue of alleged anomalies in flood control projects,
00:25according to the palace, while the President is currently prioritizing the improvement of the economy,
00:30he has not set aside the issue of the alleged corruption.
00:34This is why his directive to the concerned government agencies remains clear
00:38to continue the investigation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
01:01The palace added that agencies tasked with the investigation should be given the freedom to do their job
01:06and that the government should simply wait for their reports.
01:23The palace also assured that fugitives linked to anomalous flood control projects will be arrested,
01:28especially as the country continues its close coordination with Interpol.
01:32While the president seeks to hold those involved accountable,
01:35he respects the separation of powers following the ombudsman's report
01:39that it is having difficulty obtaining the statements of assets, liabilities,
01:43and net worth of lawmakers under investigation,
01:46as these still require approval from the plenary.
02:02For now, the president has also left it to the ICI,
02:05the decision on its future as an independent body.
02:28Meanwhile, the palace reported that at present,
02:3016 contractors are in the process of being blacklisted based on reports
02:34from the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board or PCAB,
02:38with four having their licenses already revoked.
02:40Based on the data from the DPWH, more than 60 contractors may still be blacklisted.
02:46However, the Malacanang said,
02:48this will not affect the building of infrastructure projects in the country
02:51as there are still many contractors who deliver quality work.
02:55Thus, the palace stressed,
