00:00Two impeachment petitions against the president filed by a militant and progressive liberal bloc in Congress and their allies
00:06and one filed jointly and independently by two House Solons have been found to clear the first hurdle of being adequate in form or style.
00:15Next, a review on the grounds of their complaints to see if they pass muster or clear the threshold of high crimes and treason
00:22as the palace exudes confidence that these petitions will fail or fall short, as our Claesel Pardiglia reports.
00:30Malacanang maintains that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has not violated any law, despite the impeachment complaints filed against the president.
00:53Today, the House Committee on Justice deliberated the complaints against the chief executive.
01:00Two complaints were declared sufficient in form.
01:04This is not yet a ruling or decision on the case.
01:07It means the complaints have met the required formal requirements, like the signature of the complainant, proper endorsement, and a sworn statement.
01:16Among those declared sufficient in form is the complaint filed by the Maccabayan Bloc, with 35 voting in favor, 9 against, and 1 abstention.
01:28A majority also ruled the impeachment complaint filed by Attorney Andre de Jesus met all requirements.
01:34With 46 votes in favor, 1 vote against, and 1 abstain.
01:43The chair declares the De Jesus complaint as sufficient in form.
01:48Malacanang says it respects the process of the hearings on the impeachment complaints against President Marcos.
01:55So that's the process. We have to respect that.
01:59Among the grounds cited in the impeachment complaint against President Marcos are alleged links to anomalous flood control projects, alleged violations of the constitutions, and betrayal of public trust.
02:12President Marcos himself has led the crackdown against those behind flood control scam.
02:19Several officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways, or DPWH, involved in the issue have already been placed behind bars.
02:29The Rizcaya couple, constructors linked to several alleged ghost projects, are also imprisoned.
02:36Several cabinet officials have been dismissed as the investigation continues.
02:41In response to the Makabayan bloc's claim that President Marcos is the alleged biggest fish in the flood control corruption.
02:49For us, irrelevant.
03:07Kaleiza Bardilia, from the National TV Network, for a New and Better Philippines.
