00:02:10willing to keep your foot to the throttle it's just pure mud madness

00:02:25bigger this happens had interest blowing up I mean every year this keeps getting

00:02:29bigger and bigger and bigger was a 10 billion dollar industry by 2030 they're

00:02:34expect that to be 20 billion dollars I mean this could be like the next F1

00:02:40it's time for the very first ever Mud Cup Invitational the Mud Cup is a

00:02:57competition designed by racers for races 10 people have been invited to compete for

00:03:03over $100,000 worth of prizes including a brand new ATV

00:03:10you can't hide behind your machine it's all gonna be about the driver

00:03:15over the next eight weeks there's gonna be a ton of action we're gonna party there's not a whole lot of rules out here

00:03:28and you won't believe the drum there's no more friends in racing

00:04:47thing and light the competition up this year. Josh Harmon! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh, I cannot

00:04:54believe it. I'm kind of like the Ric Flair of the off-road world. I talk a lot of smack, but I back

00:05:00it up. And obviously my good looks really sets me apart from most of the competition. You know,

00:05:04you got that moulet magic. It just, you know, everything just comes a little bit easier.

00:05:13One of the things that people love giving me crap about is I hate getting muddy even though I come

00:05:16to the mud park. I don't mind getting muddy. I just hate to get to the park immediately and get muddy.

00:05:21Oh, let me grab some boots. I'm a chiropractor. That's my full-time job. Yeah, you're talking

00:05:27these machines are, you know, $100,000 machines, if not more. You know, I look, I make a good living.

00:05:32So when people say, yeah, Josh, his is bought, not built. It just, I don't specialize in this.

00:05:37I'm a chiropractor. I know what I do well. You know, if you want your spine fixed, hey, come see me.

00:05:42If you need your side-by-side fixed, I'm not that guy. I don't trust myself enough to try to fix the

00:05:46machine to get in these races and courses. So that's why I take it to the right people.

00:05:51All right. Let's go check this situation out. Survey the land.

00:05:58Two people just told me that they changed the rock section. They took those rocks and they spread

00:06:02them out. They put more gaps in it, I guess. Yes. Oh, great. Let's go check the course out. Let's

00:06:07just walk it and see. The first thing I do when I get to these events, I literally go the course. I

00:06:13walk it 10, 15 times. A little bit of water looks like added to this. I'm going to try to stay on the

00:06:18right side. What's the advantage of the right side? Well, you see how the logs kind of go to

00:06:23that angle? I'd rather be on that. It keeps me wider going in that first turn into the rocks.

00:06:27Okay. Here's what we need to see. I don't know if I can clear that, to be honest with you.

00:06:32Yeah, because you're going to, the rock's going to hit up in the middle.

00:06:34So this is where I really have to do my due diligence if I want to win this race.

00:06:40I love being the one that everyone's trying to catch and take down. It's the driving force

00:06:46behind me because, you know, of course you're scared and you're nervous. You don't want to

00:06:49lose the match in front of people. You don't want to lose the money. But the great thing about fear

00:06:53and being nervous is you can channel that. It's going to be a fun, good race. But man,

00:06:57there are so many places to break here, especially if you want to send it. So I'm just trying to find

00:07:01right now the spots where I can make a little time up if I lose some.

00:07:42It's good. Uh, we got to definitely work some bugs out of it though. So that's why I want

00:07:56So my name's Bryce Sparks. I'm from the middle of nowhere, Missouri. And, uh, I'm a full-time

00:08:00content creator, a fabricator, a husband, and I got a beautiful daughter named Rory.

00:08:09Whiskey Biz is still crushing it. It's kind of just a reputation I've built out here in

00:08:13the off-road world. So pretty much right out of high school, went to a trade school, learned

00:08:17HVAC, got into blue collar trades, made good money doing that and everything. But this is

00:08:22a business for me. I'm trying to pay my bills and feed my family. You know, our sponsorships,

00:08:27our brand deals, our social media, the merchandise. Bryce and I with Whiskey Biz are literally

00:08:33building an empire at this point.

00:08:37They call me Boss Whiskey Biz because, uh, 99.9% of the time, once again, I'm behind the

00:08:42scenes doing all the work. And I'm like, no, I'm the real boss. It was a complete joke,

00:08:45but it's stuck. And so that's what they've been calling me ever since, Boss Whiskey Biz.

00:08:51We're getting close, aren't we?

00:08:54I went down and I highlighted so I can keep the track numbers and do the points system who

00:08:58gets what. And do you know that Josh Carmen isn't running two rounds? He's the only one

00:09:01not doing it.

00:09:02He's not even going to, I'm telling you, he won't finish.

00:09:03I know, he's just going out there to get points.

00:09:05No, he's not. He's going to go out there. I bet he don't, he might finish, but he sure

00:09:08won't drive hard. I've got money, says he doesn't even finish it. I think he'll come

00:09:12through the rock garden and he'll be like, oh, something's not right with it. And he'll

00:09:16either drive really slow through it or he'll just turn off of it.

00:09:20So my relationship with Josh is, I just, I just really don't care for the guy like at

00:09:24all. Like he's just not at my level in my opinion. You know, I just, that's, that's

00:09:28the truth. I don't, it's kind of like punching down anytime I do anything with

00:09:31that guy. And I'm not a fan of that. I would much rather compete with, you know, the

00:09:34people that are at the higher level and, you know, are at my skillset. I feel like he's

00:09:38not. Yeah. There's some people you just don't care for in life. And he's, he's,

00:09:42at the top of my list.

00:09:46Uh-oh. He's got something wrong. I mean, I hate to see this. No, I don't.

00:09:54My rivalry with Bryce last season was as expected. He's crushed. His feelings are

00:10:00hurt. You know, he told everyone the entire season he was going to dominate me.

00:10:08Can you believe that? And that gives Josh Carman the win.

00:10:13I told you I was going to win. And what did I do?

00:10:17I'm telling you, beating Bryce Sparks is the best feeling in the world.

00:10:21I would say that was probably the most special moment that I had last season.

00:10:26My man just bought that win, right? I build all my stuff and I can actually drive it in

00:10:31something other than a straight line.

00:10:32I can beat Bryce going straight, making turns, foot race, dance off. The only thing this

00:10:36guy's got is a mouth full of teeth.

00:10:39I'm going to take the title from Josh's soft, well-moisturized hands.

00:10:49My name is Larry Oaks. They call me Dreadbone. That's my rap name. I am what I like to call

00:11:04myself as an off-road rapper. I've made my own little niche in the music industry where

00:11:08I rap about off-roading because, I mean, my whole life revolves around it. I was invited

00:11:14to be the announcer for the Mud Cup. I mean, somebody's got to be the host, right? Might

00:11:18as well be Dreadbone.

00:11:20This weekend, 10 racers will begin the quest for the first ever Mud Cup Invitational.

00:11:29Those racers are AJ Robertson, Bryce Sparks, also known as Whiskey Biz, Josh Carmen, Megan Ryan,

00:11:38Randy Alicia, Trista Cordell, Cody Ayers, Bobby Cobb, Charity Rick, and Julie Woody.

00:11:48There are eight races throughout the season where racers will have a chance to earn points

00:11:52towards the grand prize of over $100,000 worth of prizes, including a brand new ATV.

00:12:03With the Mud Cup, this is going to take small to big tires racing

00:12:08and drag races, turn and burns, a bounty course. We've got it all. This is really going to challenge

00:12:14us as racers to see who is the best, not just at this one little piece, but at everything overall.

00:12:20Here at Bogs and Boulders, there is one signature race for the Mud Cup Invitational.

00:12:26It's called the WTF Off-Road Bounty Course, and it's a beast. Right out of the gate, they'll

00:12:34jump into a splash pit before hitting the most challenging part of the track, a gnarly rock

00:12:39garden that'll bust your buggy with one wrong move. Make it through that, then you'll need

00:12:45to get through the log jam, up the log wall, and through a 180-degree step down. And now

00:12:51comes the fun part, a landmine known as the K-Rail Pit. It's a mess of jagged concrete fragments

00:12:57that can definitely ruin your day. And then from there, it's a sprint to the finish.

00:13:28it and try to keep her together.

00:13:34I have never thrown up. Oh, I'm nervous for sure, but I am. In my wheelhouse, I enjoy

00:13:39the nerves. I mean, to me, that's what's so fun is not knowing.

00:13:47Mud racing isn't just a hobby for me. Mud racing's my life.

00:13:51I love the competition. And really, this is the honest truth. I mean, I guess I kind of

00:13:54tiptoed around. I'm just going to be honest. I don't want to be forgotten. I don't have kids.

00:13:58I want people to talk about me. I want to remember them to say, hey, man, you remember Josh

00:14:01Carmen? Man, he was wild. He was a great racer. I remember the time he flipped over and almost

00:14:04killed himself, or the time that he won the race. And I think it really boils down to

00:14:08that. I just don't want to be forgotten, and I just love doing it.

00:14:53We're going to run the bounty course. Best time gets the most points on the leaderboard.

00:15:01This is a two-day event, and today, Josh Carmen kicks things off, followed by Bobby Cobb and

00:15:06Cody Ayers. Then it's Randy Alicia and Bryce Farts to finish day one. And the rest of the

00:15:12field will get their chance tomorrow.

00:15:15There's a lot on the line today, y'all. So let's kick it off with our very first race of

00:15:20the Mud Cup Invitational. Woo! All right, y'all. Josh Carmen. Go get it, buddy!

00:15:42They call me the Mud Man for a reason. I'm the best mud racer in the country and have been for the

00:15:46last several years. And if I don't win, I'm going to be crushed. And you can ask my wife. I'll lose

00:15:50sleep for months. That's why I don't lose that much is because I take it so hard.

00:19:31I'm from a little town outside of Houston, Texas called Channel View.

00:19:34I've been in the off-road industry for over 15 years.

00:19:37Anything with a motor or steering wheel that I can drive, I want to get in it and learn how to drive it.

00:19:42I don't care what it is.

00:19:43I started racing a couple of years ago.

00:19:46September of 2021, about three years ago, I had an ATV accident at the Bounty Porsche.

00:19:51I broke my back on my L4 and L5, and I broke my arm.

00:19:57I ended up with two plates and 34 screws.

00:20:00It was one of the hardest things that I've ever been through.

00:20:01A year ago, I got back into racing.

00:20:02And this year, I'm just kind of looking to expand my racing resume and kind of get into a couple of different types of racing.

00:20:06And I know that with a mud cup, that's going to allow me to do that.

00:20:07And I know that with a mud cup, that's going to allow me to do that.

00:20:08So for me, getting the helmet ready, it's a big, huge, important thing to make.

00:20:09We need to really make a system work.

00:20:11So I'm going to have a party with a little brick, which is very fun, but in a big place around the door.

00:20:20A year ago I got back into racing and this year I'm just kind of looking to

00:20:25expand my racing repertoire racing resume and kind of get into a couple

00:20:30different types of racing and I know that with the mud cup that's gonna allow

00:20:34me to do that. So for me getting the helmet ready it's a big huge important

00:20:38thing these are my lucky pigtails you know I wear I wear a wig so my helmet

00:20:44has to have its own wig and its own hair

00:20:50I have a condition called alopecia that makes me lose my hair I have no hair

00:20:56from head to toe so growing up I faced a lot of challenges and it wasn't easy

00:21:02people still as an adult make fun of me it's gonna happen I can brush it off

00:21:06pretty easy but when I take my wig off and I actually put the helmet on I kind

00:21:11of turn into a different person I have a different confidence and getting behind

00:21:16the wheel is more freeing for me

00:21:22I have so many people that have come up to me and are like wow my kid has this

00:21:27thank you for being this role model for them and showing that just because you

00:21:31have this doesn't mean that you can't do whatever you want to do so that's

00:21:36really really rewarding for me. Randy Alicia is competing for points for the Mud Cup Invitational today

00:21:47and I'm excited to see how she does. This is the first time for me running the

00:21:53bounty course since my accident it's gonna be tough I got this I got this

00:22:06with this being the same kind of track that I got injured on it it's

00:22:36scary because you get a little PTSD driving up to the starting line

00:24:24One of the biggest differences between me and Josh is,

00:24:27you know, my dad told me one thing when I was growing up.

00:24:39So one of the biggest things between me and Josh

00:24:42is the fact that he's completely okay

00:24:45with driving something that somebody else built.

00:24:48I take more pride in myself and my builds than that.

00:24:51If that's his style, it's just not for me.

00:24:54I want to build it myself.

00:24:56I want to race it myself.

00:24:57I want it to all be mine.
