Heroes and villains may have come and gone, but one thing has remained a constant over the past 40 years on Coronation Street - Betty's hot pot! But the woman behind the iconic dish does not have a clue what is in it!
"That's a very good question, because I don't cook," said actress Betty Driver.
The 90-year-old has played Betty on Corrie since 1969 and is now the soap's longest serving barmaid.
The recipe for her signature meal is one of the Street's best kept secrets. While it is a favourite in the Rovers Return, the legendary TV star says she hasn't tried it.
"I wouldn't eat a hot pot, as I don't eat red meat," she said.
Betty, who refuses to retire from the ITV drama, believes the dish is now an integral part of the show.
"It's the top of the bill. It doesn't matter about all the artists, that hot pot is the top," she said.
