Labour backbencher MP Karl Turner says that Sir Keir Starmer's chief adviser Morgan McSweeney has given the Prime Minister "duff advice" on multiple occasions, questions McSweeney's role in Peter Mandelson's appointment as US ambassador, and calls him "vicious". Urging the PM to sack McSweeney, Turney warns: "if McSweeney does not go, then the Prime Minister is in more danger than he needs to be". Report by Keechl. 00:00Morgan Mac Sweeney is a person I've never met.
00:03I wouldn't know him if I bumped into him in Portculley's House in Parliament.
00:07But what I know about Morgan Mac Sweeney is he's been responsible for briefing against cabinet ministers, ministers, members of Parliament.
00:14I've had briefings against me, vicious personal briefings following my decision to come out strong against the policy decision to limit jury trials and criminal proceedings.
00:28The briefings have been savage.
00:32It's meant that I've had to instruct lawyers.
00:36That is Morgan Mac Sweeney, who is responsible in my view, and he's done it time and again with others, and the Prime Minister should get him out of the place.
