Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy split up

A second comedy couple has called time on their relationship.

Just hours after the announcement that British comics Lenny Henry and Dawn French have decided to separate, Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy have also confirmed that they have split up.

The US funnyman announced the news on Twitter, telling followers: "Jenny and I have just ended our five-year relationship, I'm grateful for the many blessings we've shared and I wish her the very best! S'okay!"

The actress and comedienne echoed his sentiments. In a statement she said: "I will continue to be in his daughter's life and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart."

The 37-year-old has a son, Evan, from a previous relationship, while Jim has a 22-year-old daughter named Jane.
