00:00Acting Police Superintendent Kevin Martin is warning drivers that wrecking operations have resumed in the capital city and environs.
00:08Wrecking has resumed Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm.
00:17And vehicles that are so wrecked will be taken to the police academy and of course it's $500 to get
00:23back a vehicle.
00:24So that's Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm. Wrecking has resumed.
00:29On Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 2am there is wrecking in Woodbrook and Vick.
00:38Thursday, Friday and Saturday?
00:40Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 2am there is wrecking in the Woodbrook district and vehicles will be taken
00:48to the Woodbrook station.
00:50Superintendent Martin also warns motorists throughout the country to be prepared and have their vehicles and documents in order as
00:57there will be more boots on the ground.
00:59Yes, I would say that we already have our operational plan put together for as late as probably January of
01:07next year.
01:07I want to say there will be more officers and there will be less tolerance.
01:12Hence again, as I say, to be forewarned is to be forearmed.
01:15We will have more officers on the streets. We will have more enforcement being met.
01:21TTPS Road Safety Officer Sergeant Brent Batson is also advising drivers against getting behind the wheel while intoxicated as the
01:29TTPS is expecting new breathalyzer equipment.
01:32We are hoping to get some new breathalyzer equipment that will enhance our enforcement capabilities.
01:37We are hoping to get it before the end of the year if all goes well.
01:40But this is going to be a big difference in our capabilities for DUI detection and prosecution.
01:48Both Sergeant Batson and Superintendent Martin explained that officers are just trying to do their jobs and keep citizens safe.
01:56And it is not about victimizing anyone.
