Bernie Rayno breaks down where tropical development could occur in the Atlantic basin.
Transcript
00:00We're watching for tropical development off the east coast of North Carolina and South Carolina.
00:06You can already see a little area of low pressure.
00:08You see that spin on the satellite picture here?
00:10Now, it's poorly organized at the current time.
00:13However, it's going to be sitting over water temperatures between 76 and 80 degrees,
00:18and that's what we look for for tropical development.
00:21Warm water.
00:23There's sufficient moisture.
00:24However, there's also lots of wind shear.
00:27Strong winds in the middle and upper part of the atmosphere.
00:30That prevent tropical development.
00:33So while we do have the warm water and we do have sufficient moisture,
00:37the wind shear will slow development.
00:39Now, if this system could sit over the warm water for a long enough period of time,
00:44right now we think there is a medium chance that we could see this develop into a tropical depression or
00:50a tropical storm.
00:51This will have no impact to the United States, but we'll have to keep an eye on it for Bermuda.
00:57The next storm name is Kyle.
