00:00There is speculation that the Ravens, you know, with Lamar Jackson getting injured, that the Ravens may be looking to
00:11trade him.
00:12Someone may want to buy low.
00:15Dolphin Stephen Ross has always had interest.
00:18David Fironis had tweeted out a lot of speculation on Lamar Jackson's future with the Ravens.
00:24Would you want to make him a Dolphin in the offseason?
00:28It's a fascinating question.
00:30Good question.
00:32You think he's entering this state?
00:34He seems to be oft injured to me.
00:36When he's healthy, though, he's one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
00:40So I'm curious if you're John Eric Sullivan, do you say to yourself, I can kind of knock down two
00:51birds with one stone.
00:53I can trade for Lamar Jackson.
00:55We've got draft capital.
00:56I can trade for Lamar Jackson.
00:58We can also shore up some areas of need that we have.
01:01It would be an interesting discussion to have at least.
01:05Surface level, you scream yes.
01:08Then you start really breaking it down.
01:11Are you buying a former MVP that has no chance of being that again because of injury?
01:17But it's not all the same.
01:18It was like his finger.
01:19That's a fluke one.
01:21This one just happened like his hand came down.
01:23That can happen to anyone.
01:24And he was coming back from the injury.
01:26Man, that's a good question.
01:28It's a hell of a cap hit, though.
01:30But it's Lamar Jackson.
01:32What's he making?
01:3350-something million a year?
01:35Yeah.
01:35And he'll probably be due for a new extension coming up shortly.
01:38I think that's the big question here.
01:40You talk about rebuilding.
01:42You talk about resetting the cap.
01:44And you potentially end up in the same place you were in a couple years ago with a quarterback
01:48that's making a boatload of money who's not readily available every single week.
01:54I do it, though.
01:55I roll the dice.
01:56You would.
01:56The Dolphins have not had an MVP caliber player in their backfield, or under center, rather,
02:04since Dan Marino.
02:05Period.
02:06End of story.
02:07You immediately do.
02:08And all you need him to do is be healthy for one season.
02:12That's it.
02:12One season.
02:13Give you that opportunity.
02:14Tell me right now.
02:15You add Lamar Jackson.
02:17Yes, all the injury concerns.
02:18I'm with you.
02:19I hear it.
02:19I'm not downplaying them.
02:21Eight injuries since 2021 that have kept him off the field at one point or another.
02:26That's way too many.
02:27But you add Lamar Jackson, and he can stay healthy.
02:31You're going to end that playoff streak.
02:33I do it.
02:34Sign me up.
02:35Yeah.
02:38Dante Culpepper was real good with the Vikings.
02:42That's just, and I don't know if that's PTSD from it, but I don't think Lamar Jackson's
02:46there.
02:46You know what?
02:46Like I said, Solana, my initial thought was exactly what you said.
02:50Hell yeah.
02:51Give him 100 million a year.
02:52It doesn't matter.
02:53It's Lamar Jackson.
02:53But do I need Lamar Jackson as an encouraged raw guy on the sideline, or do I want him rushing
03:01for 800 and passing for 4,000?
03:02I'd rather the latter.
03:03How old is he?
03:04How old is he?
03:06I don't think he's that old, man.
03:08No, he came, he was young when he got into the league.
03:10He can't be 30.
03:12Late 20s.
03:1329 years old.
03:14Yeah.
03:14Wow.
03:15That really makes you think.
03:17Like, you're telling me.
03:18And again, my guess is they're going to have to move on from him, right?
03:22I mean, they're on a hamster wheel.
03:25And I think this season, like, it's got to be their wake-up call again.
03:30Doesn't mean that he's not got a lot of great years ahead of him in the NFL, but sometimes
03:34guys wear out their welcome at a particular stop and need to be somewhere else in order
03:41to, you know, succeed at the next level.
03:45And I just feel like they got to be done with him.
03:48No?
03:48No, but with the money thing, if you get, if you have, just a lot of point, you have
03:52an all-star MVP caliber quarterback, you're going to give him that money.
03:56Let's say we draft, who the hell is it?
03:58Sayan or Mensah.
03:59We'll say Mensah.
04:00We draft Mensah and he becomes the next Josh Allen.
04:04You're going to have to pay him 50 million.
04:06So take that out.
04:07Is Lamar the piece that needs to move on or you need to move with other pieces?
04:11If I'm a Raven.
04:13But how long has he been doing it with the Ravens and they've been unable, again, he's been
04:18an MVP, but they, like, what, what more could you do if you're the Ravens?
04:22You've got Derrick Henry.
04:23What more could you do?
04:25Huck, solidify this.
04:26Two-time MVP.
04:28Huck, do something with the secondary, get another linebacker.
04:32Like, if you're, if you're doing asset liability management, Lamar Jackson's nowhere close to
04:37a liability.
04:38He's a two-time MVP.
04:43It's a three-o-fair.
04:44Dolly.
04:45Dolly.
04:45Dolly.
04:46Have a bless.
04:47Dolly.
04:50Dolly.
04:51Thank you, Bed Bug.
04:52You're welcome.
04:53Three-o-five, sponsored by Miami Lakes Chevrolet, where you walk in as a customer and drive out
04:58as family.
05:00I know what the reaction is going to be from a large part of this Dolphins fan base.
05:04Hell no.
05:05There's no way you can bring in, you know, another injured quarterback.
05:09I'm not saying they're wrong, by the way, but the Dolphins should have drafted Lamar
05:14Jackson.
05:14We know Steven Ross wanted him.
05:16Then, Lamar Jackson was available a couple years ago.
05:19We were having these exact same conversations.
05:21You do anything you can when it seemed like Lamar and the Ravens were on the outs because
05:25of the contract situation, and people were saying, no, he's too injured, he's too injured.
05:29What'd he do after that?
05:30Got to an AFC title game, and has only not gotten to the Super Bowl because he lost to
05:35Patrick Mahomes.
05:36How many quarterbacks have beaten Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs?
05:39And because Mark Andrews dropped a touchdown in the end zone.
05:43One.
05:43Joe Burrow.
05:44That's the only quarterback to be Patrick Mahomes to go to a Super Bowl.
05:48The question, though, is not what will Dolphins fans say.
05:51What would Ravens fans say at this point?
05:56Because don't you think they're saying at this point, man, we're going to do this again?
06:01We're going to do it again.
06:04Yeah.
06:05No, Hawk.
06:05I think I talked myself into it arguing, like, what you're asking.
06:09If I'm a Ravens fan, am I tired of having Lamar Jackson in my backfield?
06:14Am I frustrated with going to the playoffs every single year and not winning?
06:19He's not the problem.
06:21If I'm a Ravens fan, Lamar Jackson is not the problem, though, but you're frustrated that
06:26you're not winning a Super Bowl with Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry.
06:30And Lamar's the problem?
06:32No.
06:33But you just, there's like, you got to do something.
06:36Do something else.
06:38Now I talk about, yes, trade, but I want Lamar Jackson.
06:42I'm with Solano.
06:43Hawk, you have one of the best quarterbacks in the world.
06:47Not maybe proven.
06:48If he's healthy, he is the top five quarterback in the world.
06:51And you can have him on your team.
06:52You go get him.
06:53We'll figure this out on the back end.
06:55Not just that.
06:56Look at your division.
06:57Josh Allen, Drake May.
06:59I'm not putting Drake May in that conversation, but I think we got a pretty good idea.
07:02This is going to be good for a long time.
07:04And the Jets, as it stands today, have three first round picks in the top 10 next year.
07:13At some point, yeah, the Jets will jet.
07:15At some point, their organization is going to be in a better situation as well.
07:20And what if they hit on a quarterback?
07:21You have the possibility of grabbing one of four dudes in the NFL who can go toe-to-toe with
07:28Patrick Mahomes and with Josh Allen.
07:31One of four dudes in Lamar Jackson.
07:33No matter the price.
07:34No matter the price.
07:35In my opinion, you go get him.
07:36And if he can only stay healthy one of the next three seasons, that's all you need.
07:41That's it.
07:41That's all you need.
07:42Man, people say that now.
07:44To say lose his mobility, Lamar can sling it, too.
07:47He's going to lose a step.
07:49Let's say when he hits 32.
07:50To your point, three years, he loses a step.
07:52Lamar still can throw the ball.
07:53He's not shoulder issues, wrist issues.
07:56If he does, he hurts his leg.
07:57You know, his knee.
07:58What was his ankle?
07:59Whatever he missed last year with.
08:00How many times did you say he's been injured, Solana?
08:02Eight times.
08:04But some were like one game, though, Hawk.
08:06Like, it wasn't like, you know, being knocked out for a month.
08:09It was a game here or there.
08:12All right.
08:13Let's do headless.
08:15This text is, I can't say they're wrong.
08:18Solana, no.
08:19Did we learn nothing from Chris Greer's strategy?
08:22Oh, they'll be healthy in Miami.
08:24No.
08:24Injury prone is injury prone.
08:25They're right.
08:26I don't disagree with that logic.
08:28I'm not telling you I'm right, you're wrong.
08:30I'm just saying I'm willing to risk it for a certain number of dudes in the league.
08:34To me, Lamar Jackson's in that conversation.
08:37Josh Allen is in that conversation.
08:39Joe Burrow is in that conversation.
08:41Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes.
08:43Those are the four best quarterbacks in the NFL.
08:45Period.
08:46End of story.
08:47And if you can get one of those four in his prime at 29, you do it.
08:53No matter what you need to give up, you do it.
08:55That's the last six years, Hawk.
09:002022, 12 games, 16, 17, 13, and this year was five.
09:05He's not missing full seasons.
09:07He's getting knocked out for three, four games here and there.
09:10If he does become available, you will see a feeding frenzy unlike you've ever seen in
09:16the NFL because quarterbacks like him do not become available.
09:21And why don't we want to be a part of the feeding frenzy?
09:23Not y'all, but like even that texter.
09:24I'm just asking, yeah.
09:26Even that texter, what are you talking about?
09:28Everybody wants a person and now you're going to be high class?
09:31Oh, no.
09:32We know what injured looks like.
09:34Come on, man.
09:35Well, the question, though, is would you rather have a great 22-year-old quarterback on the cheap
09:40or would you rather have a great 30-year-old quarterback who's a boatload of your salary cap?
09:46The word in there is great.
09:50I know Lamar's great.
09:51I don't know Mince is great.
09:53I don't know Arch is great.
09:54I don't know Sayan's great.
09:55Dante Moore is great.
09:56There's a lot of potential great out there.
09:58I have a guaranteed MVP commodity in Lamar Jackson, and he's from South Florida.
10:05Yeah, you're just assuming, like a lot of people are just assuming,
10:09the Dolphins will have a top-five pick, which it seems they're going to,
10:13and that one of these quarterbacks are going to be great.
10:16You don't know.
10:17You just have no idea.
10:18Oh, I understand it.
10:19I understand it.
10:20But that is the crux of the question is,
10:25do you think a great quarterback is going to be available?
10:28Because if you do and you get him on the cheap, obviously, at the beginning,
10:32and then you're able to build around him,
10:35that's obviously preferred over having an older, by 10 years maybe,
10:41quarterback who does have eight injuries,
10:43who's going to eat up a ton of your salary cap.
10:47So the question, the crux of it is,
10:50do you think you can get that kind of skill set?
10:53Because it might be out there.
10:55It might not.
10:56But it might be out there.
10:57And if you can get it, you're 1,000 times better off for the future.
11:02The last two years, who is it?
11:04Cam Ward and Fernando Mendoza.
11:07So if you get one of those, let's say either one.
11:09You want Cam Ward, young, cheap, Fernando Mendoza, young, cheap,
11:13or Lamar Jackson.
11:14If those are your options, which way are you going?
11:16Right.
11:17Well, knowing what I know through Cam Ward's first two seasons,
11:20I'd go with Lamar.
11:21Although back, if you had asked me that if Cam was coming out now
11:26after the season he had at UM, I may have said Cam Ward.
11:30That's the thing.
11:31There's too many questions.
11:32There's no questions on that fellow in D.C.
11:34Well, there is, though.
11:35There's money and there's wear and tear.
11:37There are questions.
11:38Yeah.
11:39Now take the – I don't know what is it.
11:41Did you look it up?
11:41I know it's over 50 million.
11:43Oh, yeah.
11:44And he's due for another extension, too.
11:45He'll get another extension this option somewhere.
11:48If you didn't have a problem with them paying Tua,
11:50you better not have a problem with them paying Lamar Jackson
11:54triple what they paid Tua.
11:56But that's where the problem stems from, Crowder.
11:59People have PTSD with Tua.
12:01And I'm telling you, I hear you.
12:04But Lamar's on another level.
12:06Like, this is potentially one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play.
12:11And, yeah, he hasn't won a Super Bowl.
12:12I get that.
12:13And, yeah, he has injury concerns.
12:14I get that.
12:15But look at – like, the other option is hope you get lucky in the draft.
12:20Look at the last six quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl.
12:23Sam Darnold, he was a third overall pick several years ago,
12:26but that didn't work out for the New York Jets.
12:27He had to go other places and finally work out.
12:30But he's not, like, a game-changer at the quarterback position.
12:35Jalen Hurts wasn't a top-five pick.
12:37Patrick Mahomes wasn't a top-two, three, four selection.
12:41Matthew Stafford, sure, but it didn't work out in Detroit.
12:44Tom Brady, we all know the story there.
12:46Patrick Mahomes in 2019.
12:47Tom Brady, Nick Foles, Tom Brady.
12:50Like, name me the team that has tanked, got the quarterback,
12:55and won a Super Bowl.
12:56The closest one are the Cincinnati Bengals with Joe Burrow,
13:00who got there and lost.
13:01I mean, you're rewriting the plan right now.
13:04The plan was, hey, we got to get rid of Tua,
13:08no matter how much money we have to eat,
13:11because then we'll be able to draft a quarterback in an upcoming –
13:15you're literally rewriting the entire plan and saying the plan was faulty.
13:21The plan was not faulty.
13:23The plan was not get rid of Tua so you can go draft another quarterback.
13:28The plan was –
13:29It was kind of the plan.
13:30Get rid of Tua, who you knew was damaged goods
13:33and you paid way too much money for.
13:35Get rid of the stink around that entire regime
13:37and rebuild this roster to compete.
13:40And maybe one fork in the road was, yeah, just draft a quarterback
13:45and hope that's your guy if you end up with a top-five pick.
13:47The other is go find another quarterback.
13:50They did that with Malik Willis.
13:52I think we all agree Malik Willis is not a Super Bowl-caliber quarterback.
13:55Lamar Jackson is.
13:57Go get Lamar.
13:59I would say you're changing plans because it was –
14:02the first responsibility of Sully was to fix the money.
14:07Get the money right.
14:08We can't work off, you know, $0.50 on the dollar.
14:10Get the money right.
14:11No one thought Lamar Jackson would be available.
14:13So I guess the default would be that now you draft a young guy early.
14:17But plans got to change, Hawk, to answer your question.
14:20You got Lamar on the team.
14:21You date Lisa and Sidney comes up?
14:24Hell, Sidney smiling.
14:26Let me go holler at Sidney.
14:27Yeah, I don't disagree with it.
14:29And I was, you know, again, I was down with getting Dua
14:31for the money that they spent.
14:33So I don't disagree with it.
14:35I just know the pushback that you're going to get from Dolphins fans
14:38because they're going to feel like they're entering this bizarro world of,
14:44oh, we're going to do it again with an injured quarterback, huh?
14:47Like the argument we're having is about a quarterback
14:49who right now got placed on IR yesterday.
14:53Who's played one game all season.
14:55Let's do a real quick look at the headlines
14:57because Joe Zagacki has a bus to catch.
14:59He's got to get on the team bus to make sure that he gets to the UF Miami game tonight.
15:06Lamar Jackson has three playoff wins in his NFL career.
15:09By the way, the Miami Dolphins in my lifetime have zero.
15:11I just want to remind everybody who's saying Lamar's stats suck in the playoffs.
15:15Okay, yeah, he has three playoff wins.
15:17The Miami Dolphins have 26 years without a playoff win.
