00:00Those are voluntary. Lamar's a two-time MVP. I think he knows what it takes to get ready for
00:05the grind of the NFL season. He's proven he can do it at a very, very high level. I have
00:10no
00:11preference. That's Eric DaCosta. It's turning up Tuesday. Foo Fighters ever long. Anything you
00:18want, cranked up to 12. Send your song request, positive text, sign up for 10583, 1057. It's
00:29voluntary workouts and whether or not Lamar will be there because Declan Doyle said, I'd
00:34like to see kind of everyone show up, right, to that sort of situation, which has never
00:40been Lamar's MO. He pops in for the first one, right? Yeah. And then you see him again at
00:47mandatory mini camp. Yeah. But Eric DaCosta doesn't really have a preference, but is it
00:54a wink-wink? I don't have a preference. I mean, if Lamar shows up to everyone, you think
00:59the cost is going to be... I'm guessing that because Declan said that, you know, when
01:08the coordinators talked, Declan Doyle, what he said was, like you just said, Bob, he
01:14expected, he said, I expect everybody to be there. It's a new offense. Yes. Yes. So
01:21the media made a big deal of that. You know, I mean, and when I came back, that was the
01:27first thing that I said, because Bruce said, what'd you take out of it? That was
01:31what I took out of it, the whole press conference. And because I knew it wasn't
01:35happening. And Lamar probably told Eric, that ain't happening, you know? And that's
01:42why Eric, you know, I mean, Eric basically said he's not, he's not coming. You know,
01:48he's a two-time MVP. He doesn't, he knows how to get ready. Basically, he's telling us
01:53he's not going to be there. So, you know, you got to, so Declan's got to find a way
01:58to teach him the offense, whether it be on Zoom or however. But my guess is, is Eric has
02:05a hard time getting a hold of him on text. You know, him answering Zooms to go over the
02:10offense, probably not happening a ton.
02:12Yeah. And, and normally I wouldn't care.
02:14Right.
02:15Because of what Eric just said, he is a two-time MVP, should have won it a third time, et
02:21cetera,
02:21et cetera, et cetera. But it's a new coordinator. It's a new offense.
02:25New terminology.
02:26Yeah. I mean, you're the leader of the, of the team and, you know, show up more than
02:32once.
02:32It's a bad look.
02:34It is voluntary. Let's stress that. It's not like he's required to be there, but it
02:40would definitely send a positive message if, you know, he pops in there and, you know,
02:46him and Henry and Ronnie just, you know, at least early on give a, Hey, let's do
02:52this. We got to bounce back sort of philosophy.
02:55Yeah. Just so when, when Lamar shows up to mandatory mini camp, Bob, he can call the
03:01offense in the huddle. That would be nice. You know, otherwise, you know, he's going to
03:08be kind of, that's when he's going to learn it all. And then when he gets to training
03:12camp, he probably figures, you know, I get training camp and, but then, you know, he'll
03:17be there for the two and a half days of the mandatory mini camp, get it there. But then
03:24how far behind are you compared to everybody else? I mean, the rookies are ahead of you.
03:29Yeah. I would prefer that he shows up more than once. But then again, if the GM can't
03:34get in touch with him, I'm sure as hell not going to be talking to him. Nolan McGraw,
03:37what do you think Lamar Jackson's presence at OTAs? Should it be more prominent or is
03:45it, you know, it is a voluntary exercise and he's done pretty well for himself by missing
03:50most of them throughout his career. I don't remember, was he there for his rookie year?
03:54First two years, did he show up a lot?
03:58I don't, Bob, I know I was there for rookie mini camp. He was there and it was struggles,
04:04but I mean, Flacco was the guy then, you know? Right. But second year, it was G-Row. You had
04:08changed coordinators because Marty had moved on. What do you think, Nolan McGraw, new OC,
04:13guy the same age as the quarterback? Should the quarterback be there trying to be the Pied Piper
04:19for voluntary stuff? So obviously, yes, it only benefits him. It only benefits the team for him
04:27to be there. But I'm telling you right now, I can't do another three, four months of this. I mean,
04:32I seriously, like we, we, I, we talked the past couple of weeks. It's a talking point when Doyle
04:37mentioned it, obviously a headline to Costa here. It's a headline, but I can't do this whole thing.
04:42And then once we get to OTAs, he's either there, he's not right. And we can talk about it at
04:47the
04:47time, but it is what it is, man. Like this is who he is. This is what he's done throughout
04:52his career.
04:52If he doesn't see fit, I might not agree with it, but when it's go time, it's go time. And
04:58that's
04:58ultimately what I will subscribe to is that if he, I'm sorry, if he gets to the season and it's
05:04normal Lamar, it's business as usual, nobody's going to care. Nobody's going to bat an eye,
05:08but maybe if it's not up to par, if it's substandard, if there's, even if it's a little
05:14injury related, people aren't going to be as willing to put up with it and they will go back
05:19and they will cite stuff like OTAs. Now, again, where does that rank in terms of what actually
05:25gets him ready and what makes him operate on game day? Up for debate. Everyone has a different
05:32level of importance they place on it. But for me right now, I think he should be there.
05:37And I said it a couple minutes ago, if it was still the status quo shows up for day one
05:43and
05:43then we don't see him again for mandatory stuff, so be it. But I think with a new, young, first
05:49-time
05:49play caller, and to get to know Joe Lombardi a little bit too, I think his presence needs
05:56to be more regular than we have seen before. Even though, again, I'd stress this, it's not
06:04mandatory, it's voluntary. But isn't it always been called mandatory, voluntary, or voluntary,
06:10mandatory, whatever it is?
06:11No, no. And Bob, my question is, who's the quarterback that's going to be taking the snaps?
06:18Snoop's? Yeah, because Snoop's a free agent, isn't he? Snoop's a free agent, and Cooper
06:22Rush was awful. Oh, bad. Yeah, so I mean, right now, they don't have one. Right now, they
06:28don't have one. I'd imagine they'd make a strong effort to bring Huntley back. It's my
06:33hunch. But we'll see. Well, I guess you could look at, you know, whether Bears, Denver, where
06:45Lombardi's been, where Doyle's been, you know, if there's somebody that they like, you know,
06:50backup type guy who, you know, because if you, I don't know that you want Huntley because
06:56then you're teaching him a new offense too. If you get somebody, you know, who's familiar
07:01with what Declan's doing or his terminology of Lombardi and stuff, then they can help Lamar
07:08learn too.
07:09That's fine. I mean, I just, after what we saw this past season, I can't have two wildly
07:14different styled quarterbacks or one wildly different from Lamar, like in Cooper Rush,
07:19because you just saw, like even, let's say Cooper Rush played better, right? He wasn't
07:23turning the ball over like an absolute buffoon. I still don't think that offense is as smooth
07:29as it would have been with Huntley running the show, just because it's different. And the
07:35receiver, I mean, you notice there's, guy's body language was different when he was in
07:40the game. So I'm a little hesitant to get away from what I know. And at least, you might
07:45not be over the moon about Hyler Huntley, but at least you know what you got.
07:48Ryan Poles, today, the GM of the Bears said that Tyler Badgent, back up to Caleb Williams,
07:55people are kicking the tires and possibly trading for him. Cardinals appear to be the head of
08:00line there, but yeah, we're here and all it.
08:03Got to drum up that interest.
08:04We're here, baby.
