00:01An unfortunate news coming in this hour on the Uttarakhand chopper crash.
00:05We can confirm for you that all six on board that chopper are dead.
00:10The bodies of all six individuals, including the pilot, have been recovered from the crash site.
00:15Joint teams from the police, SDRF and the army are engaged in rescue operations at the site.
00:20Inclement Mether has made this rescue operation extremely difficult.
00:25The image is on your screens there of the debris that was found by rescue teams.
00:29It took quite some time for them to identify exactly where the wreckage was because of the poor weather.
00:36But now they found the wreckage and confirmed that there were no survivors unfortunately.
00:40There was some hope that maybe one or two of those on board the chopper did manage to survive.
00:47Considering that the debris hadn't been found and there was no real clarity on exactly where the crash had taken
00:53place.
00:54But now the footage on your screens confirming that yes, the wreckage has been found and there have been no
00:59survivors.
01:00Six on board including the pilot, all deceased unfortunately in that particular crash that's taken place.
01:07This was in an inaccessible spot.
01:10The bad weather made it all the more difficult for rescue teams to get there.
01:13But you see on your screens also the footage that's emerged where you see the chopper in the skies and
01:18then just disappears.
01:20Because of all the clouds in the area, there was heavy rain too when the chopper took off.
01:25Obviously there are a lot of questions being asked on exactly what happened.
01:29If it was due to bad weather, who gave the clearance for the chopper to fly in such inclement weather
01:34conditions?
01:35There will also be questions done about whether the chopper was fully serviced, whether it had the necessary registrations and
01:42NOCs to be flying.
01:44All of those questions will come up now with the investigation also picking up pace.
01:49But Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is also reportedly tracking very, very closely the rescue efforts that are underway.
01:56All the bodies, the mortal remains of the six who were on board that chopper have been recovered by the
02:02rescue teams.
02:03It's taken quite a bit of time because one was of course to find the wreckage, to find the debris
02:09itself was a challenge considering the poor visibility in this heavy rain and also because of the terrain in that
02:18particular area.
02:19While aerial surveys did help in identifying the location, then getting to the spot itself was a challenge because as
02:25you can see on your screens there,
02:27this particular wreckage was found right off a cliff in the middle of a lot of green cover.
02:33Let me bring in Ankit for more details on this.
02:36Ankit, unfortunate news coming in that all six on board, including the pilot, passed away, died in that particular crash.
02:43The wreckage we understand has been found.
02:45The bodies have also been recovered.
02:47But any details that have emerged on the circumstances that led to this crash?
02:51Was it just poor weather?
02:55Well, it's a very tragic incident this afternoon we have come across and so far as for the latest updates,
03:01six bodies have been recovered and the administration is evacuating the area.
03:06So far in the horrendous visuals, we can see that a tail rotor is lying over there and the rest
03:12of the debris are also burnt into ashes.
03:15We can see a ruptured part of the bodies lying over there as well.
03:21These images are very heart-wrenching so far.
03:24The investigation is yet to begin and only after primarily probe comes to the fore, then we'll get to know
03:33what is the reason behind this accident.
03:36And it led to killing of six people on board.
03:40This afternoon, we got an information that a chopper flying from Badrinath has gone missing and there was no communication
03:49whatsoever.
03:50The Indian Army teams and SDRF went to search for the chopper and unfortunately all six people on board are
03:57dead and the bodies have also been recovered.
04:00Okay, Ankit, thanks for that update.
04:02We will track very closely what the investigation also throws up in this particular crash.
04:10But let's move on now to news from Tamil Nadu.
04:13A power outage of one of Tamil Nadu's most prominent temples, the Madhuri Meenakshi Temple, has snowballed into a full
04:19-blown political controversy.
04:20And that's because EPS was at the temple when there was a power cut.
04:24He's targeted the Vijay government and has questioned if this is the state of affairs in Tamil Nadu.
04:29It's not the first time this has happened.
04:31There have been multiple incidents of VIPs, of opposition leaders, of even ministers, visiting spots, going for a press conference
04:38and power getting cut.
04:40So the TVK is facing fire and flack over this.
04:44Guess how the TVK has chosen to respond?
04:46The power ministers actually raised suspicions of deliberate outages during VIP visits,
04:51suggesting that there's a conspiracy, that there's foul play.
04:55All of it, he says, to defame the TVK government.
04:59Now there is a power crisis in the state, there's no doubt about it.
05:02But the politics now is also taking center stage.
05:08A temple in darkness, a government under fire, and now a minister crying foul.
05:14AIADMK Chief Edapaddi Palani Swami's visit to Madurai's Meenakshi Amman temple took an unexpected turn when the lights went out.
05:23EPS has claimed that under the Vijay government, people can't even live peacefully, let alone pray peacefully.
05:53But the power minister's response has added a whole new twist to the Rao.
05:57Nirmal Kumar has said that the outage lasted just seven to eight minutes, caused by a generator changeover and a
06:03communication gap.
06:04He insists that this is not a statewide power crisis.
06:08We have to validate that we have a VIP visit here.
06:12We have to operate the generator in the morning and do the maintenance.
06:17We have to clarify this evening.
06:21But then came the bombshell.
06:23The minister himself has now alleged that power is being deliberately cut in select places when VIPs or ministers arrive,
06:30hinting at a possible foul play within the department.
06:45So a seven to eight minute power cut has triggered questions that go far beyond one temple.
06:51Remember, Tamil Nadu's power demand has surged to a record 21,700 megawatts, marking a 30% jump year on
06:58year as soaring temperatures drive up electricity consumption.
07:02With wind generation and central power supply falling short, the state has been forced to buy short-term power at
07:08a steep 32 to 37 rupees per unit.
07:11For now, the lights may be back on, but the questions over Tamil Nadu's power supply and the politics surrounding
07:18it are far from over.
07:20With Anagar Kesav, Bureau Report, India Today.
07:25Law and Order, another issue that's become a political talking point in Tamil Nadu, with a number of murders, a
07:32number of crimes being reported and TVK functionaries being connected linked to these crimes.
07:39Former Chief Minister DMK Supremo, MK Stalin, came down heavily on Chief Minister Vijay over these recent murder cases and
07:46questioned his silence.
07:47Because he says that Chief Minister Vijay is responsible for maintaining law and order, but has failed in that task.
07:54The former Chief Minister MK Stalin also raised what I mentioned earlier, that there were TVK workers who have been
08:00involved in some of these crimes taking place in Tamil Nadu.
08:03It wasn't just MK Stalin, his sister Kani Murray also lashed out at the Vijay government.
08:08There's over one particular incident, that of the murder of a woman in Satankulam, which she says is the eighth
08:14murder that's taken place in a week in her constituency of Thutukudi.
08:18Now, at this time, when in fact TVK is facing all of this fire, their allies stand by them.
08:24Vyko is hit back at the DMK, saying murders have taken place every day in Tamil Nadu, even when the
08:29DMK was in power.
08:58Vyko is hit back at the DMK.
09:01ichay is hit back at the DMK.
09:06The DMK is here in the DMK.
09:07Now, most of the most of the DMK is to talk about is the DMK.
09:11The DMK is to talk about that, so many of the DMK is here.
09:19However, our customers have taken place in the DMK.
09:21They have been the DMK.
09:24Here, thank you for your DMK.
09:27Again, over the years of the худraspratmeme, it's been a minute to learn more.
09:34No matter where the world is.
09:39This is the fact that there is no one.
09:41I am told that one of the ooze and all the people is so far.
09:44They are asking us to use their skills.
09:46The kids are showing us so that they are getting great and moving the århast right.
09:50and the police department will be in the same place.
09:58They will be in the same place.
10:00They will be in the same place.
10:04They will be in the same place.
10:12There are many people who are living in the same place.
10:17There are many people who are living in the same place.
10:21That's why they are living in the same place.
10:45The Madras High Court has issued notices to the Centre as well as to CJP co-convenience
10:51and spokesperson Saurav Das on a plea seeking a probe into his background,
10:56the cancellation of his passport and Aadhaar card as well as the blocking of his social media accounts.
11:01The Madras High Court taking up the plea has issued a notice now to Saurav Das.
11:06The Centre has also been mentioned because of the fact that the plea seeks an investigation into Saurav Das.
11:12Anisha Mathur is joining us with more details on this.
11:15Anisha, what really does the petition seek here?
11:18Why is it asking for an investigation into Saurav Das? What's the allegation?
11:23Well, Akshita, the allegation is against Saurav Das that, multiple allegations really.
11:30One, that he has insulted the judiciary, that he has made derogatory remarks against judges
11:36and that is why they want an investigation into Saurav Das's background and blocking of his social media accounts.
11:43What is interesting to note, however, is this petition has also sought a detailed and thorough probe
11:49into Saurav Das's antecedents and that of his entire family.
11:54Now, this petition has sought inquiry into his background and said that his passport and Aadhaar card should be cancelled
12:04and it has called for blocking of his social media accounts.
12:07Now, for now, the Madras High Court has simply issued notice to Saurav Das as well as the central government
12:13to respond to this petition.
12:15But it is a worrying petition really, Akshita, because a PIL has been filed in a high court
12:24seeking cancellation of somebody's social media accounts and investigation into their background.
12:28Now, what kind of investigation, what kind of query can be made in a PIL is something that we'll have
12:38to wait and see.
12:39The lawyer, Advocate B. Jagannath, in fact, argued before the court that they had approached the relevant authorities
12:44with a complaint but received no response.
12:47And because there were remarks made by Saurav Das against the judiciary, this issue needs to be investigated.
12:53We'll have to wait and see how the agencies, how the government and as well as the courts respond to
12:59this
12:59because it is very interesting.
13:01It's a very interesting question that has been asked.
13:03Can a PIL of this sort be filed against an ordinary citizen?
13:08And we'll have to wait and see what the Madras High Court does now with this petition.
13:13Back to you.
13:13This already has been issued.
13:15We'll await the response that comes in from Saurav Das as well as the central government on this.
13:19The demand is for an investigation into Saurav Das's background as well besides suspension of his social media accounts.
13:27Thanks, Anisha, for those details.
13:37Let's get your details now on what's happening in Karnataka where we've seen some signs of chinks in the armour
13:43in the Karnataka Congress after the MLC polls and now Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi issuing a clarification over his now
13:50viral remark on SIR.
13:52Remember earlier the minister had said that they are fully content with the SIR exercise in Karnataka.
13:58They have no objections whatsoever to the deletion of nearly one crore votes in Karnataka.
14:04Now Jarkiholi has made a U-turn explaining that his statement was actually intended to highlight
14:08the efforts by the BJP to remove Congress voters from the voter list through Form 7
14:14and that that had been thwarted by protests led by Rahul Gandhi.
14:18This is his clarification now and I'll leave it to you to decide whether you're by this response or not.
14:24First said, we're fully content with SIR.
14:26Now he says, I was highlighting that the Congress's protest was successful against SIR.
14:32Jarkiholi now has credited Rahul Gandhi, credited D.K. Shiv Kumar, reiterated his position on the illegal deletion of eligible
14:39voters' names.
14:40This comes after many within the Karnataka Congress contradicted Satish Jarkiholi saying,
14:44no, we're not okay with the manner in which SIR was conducted in Karnataka.
14:54The SIR was conducted in Karnataka.
15:11The court says, in Karnataka, he was a very good politician.
15:15The court also decided that the court was ended by the prawns and the court decided that the court secured
15:21the Karnataka,
15:22and then she and the court were declared by the Karnataka government.
15:24However, after the court also decided to consider Zika,
15:27that the court rejected the Karnataka government in Karnataka,
15:30she declared the court just a lot ofремious senators before the approval of the Karnataka.
15:32Now, when I say the court of the Karnataka government has asked,
15:36I don't have the thoughts in Karnataka, except for the law in the filed means of the police.
15:38and we will get the L-O-R-A-R-A-R-A-R-A-R-A-R-A-R
15:45-A-R.
16:00They are having two helicopters to be able to take the double.
16:03We also have to take a look at all others.
16:07We have to take a look at the base in North Korea, South Korea, North Korea...
16:13We have to take a look at the base in North Korea.
16:20We have to take a look at all the various places in North Korea.
16:22Are there any other person to take a look at the base?
16:41Let's get to the latest updates on the Kochi hit and run.
16:43Chief Minister VD Satishan has visited the family of the victim
16:48in the accident case involving the minor.
16:50This is in fact the case where a judge's son was involved.
16:55His Mercedes crashed into a motorist, killing him on the spot.
17:00After that particular incident where the 55-year-old had in fact died,
17:04Jayabal Krishnan was killed in that accident.
17:07His family has been leading the fight for justice
17:09and Chief Minister VD Satishan has met with the daughter,
17:12met with the family and assured them that all steps will be taken by the government
17:15to ensure justice for her and for her family.
17:19This is a reassuring message that's coming from the government
17:21even as the Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chanitala
17:24has personally stepped in in this case ensuring that any cop
17:27who ensured a ghost law in this case there was action against.
17:30They were shunted out, they were suspended.
17:33Ultimately however, the Kerala High Court has granted bail to the judge.
17:37The case, the car was registered in in fact the judge's name
17:41which is why he was booked in this particular case.
17:43Shibhimul is joining us with more details on the Shibhi.
17:46The Kerala government making it a point that they sent across a message to the victim's family
17:51that they are very much on their side and the government has been extremely prompt
17:54in highlighting that there have been lapses but they are cracking down on it.
18:00Well, exactly. In fact, you know, the government here, Home Minister especially went on to accept in public
18:05that there were lapses on the side of the police department.
18:08There were, you know, the case, the sections registered in the FAR were very weak
18:13and that would have not helped the family get justice is what the Home Minister observed.
18:18The Home Minister even took an extra step and went on to say that he was very surprised
18:23that this boy was granted, the minor was granted bail very easily also.
18:28So, he accepted it, he took action against the officials involved,
18:33even went on to transfer out the Kochi City Police Commissioner.
18:36So, from the Home Department side, there has been considerable effort to ensure
18:40that the families promise justice and it's in between that the Chief Minister
18:44is also now visiting the residents. In fact, they are residents of Chief Minister's constituency also.
18:49The government are on this particular case.
18:51The Chief Minister, the Home Minister have all stepped in assuring the family
18:54that they will not let anyone get away just because they are in a powerful position
18:59or wield a certain amount of influence.
