We think that red eyeshadow is as fierce a look as it gets: Nothing says we're about to get steamy like a fiery copper eye. We've seen it on the runways, admired it from afar, and enviously spotted it on celebrities' lids — so why is it that we don't think we can pull off the dramatic shade? Maybe it has to do with that deep-seated fear of looking like we have a really inflamed case of pink eye...

00:06I was obsessed with the orange bronze eyes at Chloe's spring show so today I'm
00:11double daring myself to give it a try so this red bronze eye is so beautiful for
00:18you what is it that you're afraid of it's really extreme like I love a bronze
00:22eye I'll do a bronze eyeshadow but this is like red flames on your eyeballs it's
00:27like extreme but the model who was wearing it had my similar coloring so I
00:32think I could do it but I have to get that shade right or I'm gonna look crazy
00:35well I think it's about the shade it's also about the shape I think you've got
00:40a beautiful eye to carry this off and I would love to show you how to make it
00:43work so the trick with any cat eye is to get the right wing and a lot of women
00:48don't know how to find that so I'm gonna have you open your eye and really the
00:51trick is to take your line from your natural bottom line and then just draw
00:57up right there towards the brow the next thing that I'm gonna do is I'm gonna
01:02use a warm orange red on a soft brush the softer brushes the less color it's
01:08going to deposit the firmer and denser brushes the more color it's going to
01:11deposit so using a soft brush allows me a slow build and I'm just wiping that
01:17across the lid from the inner corner and going right out to my wing that I've just
01:23strong my next step is I'm going in with a kind of metallic bronze copper
01:29shadow this is a loose pigment with loose pigment you really want to tap that
01:33excess off the brush so it doesn't fall onto the face this time I'm starting in
01:37the center of the eye wherever I put my brush down is my strongest deposit of
01:42color and then I'm just taking it right over that beautiful red that I've
01:47already put there and now I'm just going back in with a blending brush and just
01:53blending up now if I want to make it even more wearable for the woman who is
02:00afraid that that still might be too much take a soft gold shadow or a copper
02:05shadow or a bronze and just pop it right in at the inner corner for that look
02:11that's a little more wearable do you want to give it a try I do I'm excited let's do it
02:16I'm excited to now the nice thing is we can make this more dramatic or less
02:20dramatic depending on the occasion for you and the color and shape of your eye
02:24I actually would make this a little more dramatic and wing it out just a bit more
02:29the more distressed it gets the more beautiful it looks I love this for humid
02:32summer months because what it's going to do as your skin heats up this color heats
02:36up it's very sexy when you're trying to give a little wink to those boys at the bar
02:40that warm copper shadow is hot James I absolutely love it it's fabulous the
02:46color is exactly right for my eye shade and it's awesome so thank you so much
02:50thank you and thank you for watching Refinery29
