00:00I want to invest in young people.
00:03That's how America builds a real future.
00:08What we're going to do today is just,
00:10there's a lot of questions that folks have sent in.
00:12If you could say three things that you want women to know
00:15that you've done to advance women, what would those be?
00:18I got child care funding increased by just a smidge under 90%.
00:25It's the biggest increase we've done in history.
00:27I have taken to the floor of the Senate to fight.
00:30To prevent defunding Planned Parenthood.
00:34And something I'm deeply proud of is how many young women
00:38that I encountered in my classes in law school
00:40that I pulled into teaching and helped them launch their teaching careers,
00:46pulled into government service and helped them launch their government service careers,
00:50helped them get a start in jobs that are really hard.
00:53What are the three things you'd like to say that you commit to do for women
00:56that they can hold you accountable for?
00:58I like that part.
00:59So the first one is, I want to pass a two-cent wealth tax.
01:03This is a tax on people with fortunes above $50 million.
01:08That's the top one-tenth of one percent in America.
01:12Guys, you've got to pitch in two cents
01:14and invest in an entire generation of young Americans.
01:19I want to invest in young people.
01:22That's how America builds a real future.
01:25If you could have dinner with one living woman who inspires you, who would it be and why?
01:31Oprah, here is a woman who started of such modest means and just scratched it together at a pure grit.
01:45Women right now, as you know, earn on average about 82 cents on the dollar that a white man earns.
01:50Of course, unless you're a black woman, if you're a Latina or a Native American, it's so much less.
01:56So what can you say to women that you would do to finally address the problem of equal pay?
02:02Enough is enough.
02:04You've got to be willing to put out the data on who's getting paid what.
02:10And you've got to be willing to do it by gender and by race and to make those data publicly
02:16available.
02:17Who's your favorite person to follow on Instagram?
02:20Oh, yes, it's Jonathan Van Ness.
02:22He is so adorable.
02:24Oh, yes, yes, yes.
02:26Oh, okay.
02:26I have to add that.
02:27Okay.
02:28Oh, you've got to add him.
02:29Have you not been following him?
02:30I haven't.
02:31Oh.
02:31You know all about this, the maternal mortality rate.
02:33Oh, yes.
02:33It's rising in the U.S.
02:35And, of course, it's at epidemic proportions for African-American women.
02:38So what would you do to address this problem?
02:41So I want to collect the data on this.
02:43And I want the hospitals to have to report.
02:45I want the doctors to have to report.
02:47I want to make sure everybody's got real resources that they need and that there's accountability on the other end.
02:56You've been traveling all over, campaigning.
02:58What was your most starstruck moment on the campaign trail?
03:02Oh, John Legend.
03:04Whoa.
03:06Yeah, that's a big one.
03:07I'm just saying.
03:08Did he sing or?
03:10No, he just talked and I just melted.
03:12And just looked deep into your eyes.
03:14Exactly.
03:14How does your identity shape this presidential campaign?
03:19All of my life about teaching has been about what's happening to hardworking people in this country.
03:27Why is America's middle class being hollowed out?
03:30Why is the path for families who work hard?
03:34Why is the path so much rockier and steeper?
03:37This has been the center of what I've worked on.
03:39I always thought I would do this as a teacher.
03:43But then the fight comes to your door and you can back away or you can jump all the way
03:49in.
03:50And that's what happened to me.
03:51Sometimes the fight is getting more funding for child care.
03:53Sometimes the fight is to fry a CEO of Wells Fargo so badly that the guy had to resign.
04:02Sometimes the fight is to meet a little girl and say, hello, my name is Elizabeth and I'm running for
04:10president.
04:11Because that's what girls do.
04:14If you were to say to women out there in this race where there were so many people running, why
04:20should they elect Elizabeth Warren, the next president of the United States?
04:24Because it's time.
04:25It's time.
04:27And I grew up a fighter fighting for my family when we didn't have much.
04:33Spent most of my life fighting for working families that I absolutely promise.
04:38I will fight for you and your family because understand this.
04:44Nothing changes so long as we're afraid.
04:47This is our moment.
04:48Our moment to choose hope over fear, to dream big and fight hard because that, that is how we win.
04:57On behalf of Supermajority and Refinery29, you've heard it here from Senator Elizabeth Warren.
05:03Women are now the majority of voters in this country.
05:05We have the power to shape our future.
05:09The most important thing you can do is go and vote.
05:11Thanks.
