Transcript
00:06Hi guys, this is Michelle Phan here at Refinery Time, and I'm going to show you how to recreate Jason
00:11Wu's 2013 Fall Look.
00:13First, you want to prime the eyes. I'm using here just a nude primer loaded up on your finger, just
00:18so it can warm it up just a bit,
00:20and just apply this right on your lids. And if you want, you can add just a little bit right
00:25along the lower lash line.
00:26Now for the fun part, eyeshadow. Because we're using purple and I have a few loose pigments, you might get
00:32a little bit of fallout,
00:33so I recommend taking a tissue paper, fold it in half like so, and put it right here when you're
00:40applying the makeup.
00:41Alright, so load up your brush with purple eyeshadow color, preferably matte, and then just apply this on the center
00:48of your lid and just wash it out.
00:50And just use little dabbing strokes like this, and you're basically painting the color on.
00:55The thing is, you want to stay right around the crease area, which is right here.
00:59If you want to locate the crease, you can find it just by taking the brush and kind of dabbing
01:04it around until you find the hollows of your eyes.
01:07And extend it out right to where the edge of your brow is.
01:11And once you have the application on, take a blending brush and softly blend it out, smoke it out just
01:18a bit.
01:19Take another color, preferably a shimmering purple eyeshadow color.
01:23It's pigment, so just dab a little bit on.
01:26A little goes a long way.
01:27And I personally, I prefer to use my finger just because I can really just cake it on.
01:33Once you have that on, take a smaller blending brush and sweep the color down along the inner corners.
01:40Stop right there, pick up a little more of the purple eyeshadow color, and let's bring it along the lower
01:49lash line.
01:50With another clean brush, pick up your shimmering purple eyeshadow color.
01:54Add this right along the inner part of your lower lash line.
02:00Now, from here, we just need a little bit of eyeliner, not too much.
02:04So I'm just going to zhuzh it up just a bit and even out both eyes.
02:09Unless you want to rock one eye.
02:12And just even them both out.
02:15And again, remember, try and keep the shadow within the edge of the brow.
02:20Great, now we can move on to the next step.
02:22Just lightly line your eyes, staying as close to the lash line as possible.
02:26Better yet, try and tightline your eyes.
02:28So what I'm going to do here is I'm going to take the Q-tip I have, add a little
02:33bit of the purple eyeshadow
02:34so it doesn't mess up the makeup.
02:37So I'm going to open it up like this.
02:39This is the creepy look.
02:42And then go right into the water line.
02:45If you want your line to look really natural, this is my favorite way to line the eyes.
02:49Just keeping it really, really, really thin and tightline the top part of your eyes.
02:54And from here, curl your lashes and apply generous, generous, generous coats of mascara.
03:00There's a lot of mascara used for this look.
03:03Alright guys, I think we got it.
03:06So from here, just fix up the shape.
03:08Finish off with a really nice natural lip color or a little bit of lip balm.
03:12If you want to add a little more drama, lip gloss.
03:14If you want to bring out the purple a bit more, try a mauve lip gloss.
03:18But you see how wearable this is.
03:20I mean, from runway to real life, this was really easy to do.
03:23So I hope this tutorial helped out a lot.
03:26Thank you so much for watching.
03:27Thank you Refinery29 for having me here.
03:29And of course, good luck.
