00:00Israel votes, but there's no clear winner this morning. Benjamin Netanyahu's grip on power now hinges on who can build
00:07a coalition.
00:08Plus, Brazil's defeated presidential candidate leaves the country despite a court order, and the U.S. is preparing to welcome
00:15him.
00:15And two rivals, two rallies, one Texas City. President Trump campaigns for Ken Paxton, while James Tallarico fires up his
00:24own crowd just miles away.
00:27The stories that matter. The facts you can trust. From across the country to around the world. This is Unbiased
00:36Updates from Straight Arrow.
00:39Hey, everybody, I'm Christian Bryant. Glad you're hanging out with us this morning. Let's get you caught up and ready
00:44for the day ahead.
00:45This morning, Israel's election is still too close to call, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could have a tough time
00:51holding on to power.
00:52Early results show Netanyahu's coalition heading for about 50 seats in parliament, with the bloc backing his main rival, Gadi
00:59Eisenkot, just barely leading him a couple more.
01:03Arab-led parties are projected to win the remaining seats, and that's where things get complicated.
01:09Israel's parliament has 120 seats. You need at least 61 to form a government, and neither side is close to
01:15that number on its own.
01:16So the Arab-led parties could play a decisive role in what happens next. Netanyahu is already rejecting the idea
01:23of a government that depends on their support, calling such an arrangement treasonous.
01:27Eisenkot has left the door open to working with Arab parties, but only if they accept certain conditions, including recognizing
01:35Israel as a Jewish state.
01:36This was Israel's first national election since the October 7th Hamas attacks in 2023, and voters turned out in force,
01:44nearly 78 percent, the highest in more than two decades.
01:47As of the latest update, only about two-thirds of the votes had been counted. More results are expected later
01:53today, but even once the count is finished, it could take weeks to figure out who actually forms the next
01:58government.
02:00Brazil's defeated presidential candidate Flavio Bolsonaro has left the country despite a court order barring him from doing so. And
02:06this morning, there are still questions about where he's ended up.
02:10Argentine officials confirmed Bolsonaro and his family crossed into Argentina last night, then boarded a private plane headed for Ecuador.
02:17But several news outlets report he's since arrived in the United States, though that hasn't been officially confirmed.
02:23The State Department says it will issue visas to Bolsonaro and his family, allowing them into the U.S.
02:29Bolsonaro is under investigation in Brazil for alleged money laundering, which he denies.
02:34Brazil's Supreme Court had ordered him to surrender his passports and barred him from leaving the country.
02:39President Trump was asked about his whereabouts last night.
02:42I heard it was in Argentina. I don't know where it is. I heard it was in Argentina. I don't
02:49know where it is. I heard it was in Argentina. But I was a good name from Argentina.
02:55Brazilian President Lula da Silva called Bolsonaro's departure shameful. Lula defeated him in Sunday's runoff election by more than four
03:03million votes.
03:04Bolsonaro, who won the first round just three weeks earlier, has refused to concede.
03:09His Liberal Party, however, has recognized Lula's victory.
03:13Quite the political split-screen in Texas Tuesday night.
03:16President Trump rallied supporters of Republican Ken Paxton in Lubbock while just a few miles
03:21away, Democrat James Tallarico was firing up a crowd of his own.
03:25And with Election Day less than a week away, this Senate race is still extremely close.
03:29Trump made two stops in Texas Tuesday, first in Corpus Christi, then in Lubbock, where
03:34thousands turned out for both rallies.
03:37And Lubbock isn't exactly friendly territory for Democrats.
03:40Trump won the county by about 40 points in 2024.
03:43But Tallarico drew a large crowd there with supporters lining up for blocks.
03:48He blamed Republicans and wealthy donors for the high cost of living and went directly
03:52after Paxton.
03:53This is the rot at the core of our broken politics.
03:58It's why so many Texans can't get ahead, no matter how hard they work, no matter how much
04:04they save and stretch and sacrifice.
04:08It's why we can't afford the basics in this economy, gas, groceries, utilities, healthcare.
04:14It's because the system has been rigged by billionaires and crooked politicians like Ken Paxton.
04:21Across town, Trump urged Republicans to get out and vote for Paxton, warning that Democrats
04:26would raise taxes and weaken border security.
04:29He also repeated his baseless claims about Democrats cheating in elections.
04:33You know, for years, I just couldn't believe it.
04:35Because they cheat so well, I figured they didn't have to do this.
04:38They're the greatest cheaters of elections, I think, in history.
04:41Or you can defeat the Democrat communists and vote for more money in your pockets, bigger
04:47paychecks for your families, lower taxes, less crime, a booming Texas economy, no amnesty
04:54for illegal aliens.
04:56But you must vote Republican.
04:58You must vote for Paxson.
05:01Democrats haven't won a U.S. Senate race in Texas since 1988, but this year, polls show
05:06Paxson and Tallarico running neck and neck, with some giving Tallarico a narrow lead.
05:11And early voting is already underway, with Election Day on Tuesday.
05:15The parents of a Minneapolis nurse shot and killed by federal immigration agents are now
05:20publicly demanding answers from the Justice Department.
05:23Nine months after their son's death, they say the federal government is still keeping
05:26them in the dark.
05:27Michael and Susan Preddy spoke out Tuesday for the first time at a news conference.
05:32They say they haven't gotten any meaningful updates about the investigation into their son's
05:36killing, despite writing directly to the attorney general back in July.
05:41And they're accusing federal officials of protecting the agents involved.
05:45The federal government went on TV and lied about Alex.
05:49They tried to slander his memory to cover up their crime.
05:55Not only was it wrong, it was shameful, unfair and acceptable.
06:01We want to clear our son's name.
06:04We want the world to understand who Alex really was.
06:10We want our son's killers brought to justice once and for all.
06:15Alex Preddy was a 37-year-old ICU nurse.
06:19He was killed in January during the Trump administration's immigration crackdown in Minneapolis.
06:24Video of the encounter shows agents wrestling Preddy to the ground and disarming him before
06:29he was shot.
06:29The footage contradicted initial claims from federal officials that Preddy had attacked
06:34agents while brandishing a weapon.
06:36Minnesota investigators say the Justice Department initially agreed to share evidence, then stopped.
06:42The state is now suing to get the rest of the file.
06:45Preddy's father had a direct message for the federal prosecutors involved.
06:48My message to Dan Rosen and attorney Todd Blanche, look in your heart and do what is right.
06:55Share the evidence now so prosecutors can follow the facts and hold these men accountable.
07:02Do your job and stop shielding Alex's killers.
07:06The Justice Department argues it's not required to turn over evidence to state investigators
07:11before formal legal proceedings begin.
07:14It also says communication with victims' families generally comes later in an investigation.
07:19Preddy's family says they're still waiting for basic answers, including information about
07:23the agents who shot their son.
07:25No charges have been announced in his death.
07:28Three brothers who once moved in some of New York's wealthiest circles are now facing decades
07:33behind bars.
07:35Oren, Allen, and Tal Alexander have each been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for
07:40sex trafficking and other crimes.
07:42They were convicted in March after a five-week trial.
07:45Prosecutors say the brothers used their money and social status to lure women to luxury homes
07:50and parties where they were drugged or sexually assaulted.
07:53They say more than 70 women were victims of the brothers' abuse.
07:57At Tuesday's sentencing, 12 women delivered victim impact statements.
08:00The judge said she believed the women who testified about being raped and drugged.
08:05The brothers addressed the court and continued to deny those crimes.
08:09Their attorneys are expected to appeal the convictions.
08:12Oren and Tal were once big names in luxury real estate, selling multi-million dollar properties
08:17and socializing with celebrities.
08:19Allen worked as an executive in the family security business.
08:23The brothers were arrested in December of 2024.
08:26They still face about two dozen civil lawsuits accusing them of sexual assault and rape.
08:32Finally this morning, imagine buying a home on a cruise ship only to be told two years
08:36into your voyage that you gotta get off.
08:38That's what's happening to more than 200 people aboard a U.S.-based cruise ship now docked
08:43in Cambodia.
08:44The company, Villa V Residences, says it's suspending operations because it can no longer
08:49afford the fuel.
08:50And the numbers are pretty staggering.
08:52Listen to this.
08:53Monthly fuel costs, which used to average about $1,800 per cabin, have shot up to as
09:02much as $8,000 in parts of Asia.
09:05The ship, called the Odyssey, was two years into a three-year voyage around the world.
09:09Passengers could buy or rent cabins and live on board as the ship traveled from country
09:14to country.
09:15Now, all 203 passengers, most of them Americans, have been told to leave.
09:19The company says it's helping them find temporary places to stay while it tries to restructure
09:24its finances over the next 60 days.
09:26But there's no guarantee the voyage will resume.
09:29And for people who made this ship their home, there's still no clear answer about what
09:34happens next.
09:35Before we head out, here's what we're tracking today.
09:38At 1.30, President Trump meets with the Artemis III crew at the White House.
09:42That next hour, Fed Chair Kevin Warsh holds a news conference following the Federal Reserve's
09:46latest policy meeting.
09:47Then at 5.30, former President Barack Obama campaigns in Georgia with Senator John Ossoff
09:53and gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms.
09:55And at 7, Trump headlines a midterm rally in Chillicothe, Ohio.
09:59The fastest way to get the facts.
