00:00The United States military is preparing for the possibility of a major war that could cripple
00:05power grids, disrupt supply chains, and threaten critical infrastructure on American soil.
00:10Meanwhile, British families are suddenly being told to stock up on emergency supplies
00:14and to prepare for devastating attacks.
00:16We are unquestionably facing a greater threat to this country than we have
00:21certainly for most, if not all of my lifetime.
00:24For the US, the Pentagon is preparing its military bases to be capable of operating
00:28for at least 90 days without outside support as part of a broader military initiative called Fortress.
00:34The plan is aimed at ensuring American forces can continue fighting
00:38even if the civilian systems they depend on are disrupted,
00:41according to documents reviewed by Fox News Digital.
00:44We don't want to rely on standard civilian municipal infrastructure to run our national defense,
00:49we just simply can't, it's an intolerable risk,
00:52Pentagon Chief Spokesperson Sean Parnell told the outlet.
00:55As part of the initiative, the Pentagon is making plans for civilian factories to shift
00:59to defense production during a crisis, while preparing alternative supply chains and strategic
01:04reserves to maintain the flow of weapons, fuel, and other essential materials.
01:08And in order to continue operating amid prolonged power disruptions, Fortress envisions portable
01:14nuclear reactors, large-scale battery stores, and microgrids capable of disconnecting military
01:19installations from the civilian electrical grid.
01:21The next conflict will likely be fought on multiple fronts.
01:24Look at the geopolitics behind any major war.
01:27When that happens, global supply chains will break, Parnell said.
01:31Fortress represents a broader shift in how Western allies prepare for threats to their homeland,
01:36with Britain making its own new push for wartime readiness.
01:39West Streeting, the UK's defense secretary went on a media blitz to push a new Be Ready campaign to boost
01:45Britain's preparedness for crises, ranging from Russian tanks rolling across its borders to
01:50terrorism and cyber attacks crippling domestic infrastructure.
01:53Be ready by just having some everyday essentials indoors, tinned goods in the cupboard to last you
01:59a few days, and then things like torches that are battery powered, mobile phone charging packs.
02:05Do you have enough cash indoors if the local payment systems were down?
02:12Those sorts of things.
02:14While Streeting assured the public that there was no specific intelligence pointing to an incoming attack,
02:18the defense secretary issued a chilling warning to prepare for war, suggesting it could likely be within a few years.
02:25Our adversary's willingness to harm us is not new.
02:28What has changed is their capacity, he wrote in the telegraph.
02:31By 2030, their force strength and war economy could put them in a position to attack.
02:36That gives us a little over a thousand days to complete our mission,
02:40to be ready with our allies to fight and win.
02:42To prevent the worst, we have to prepare for it.
