00:00I gave them my word. I would not lie to them.
00:02She told them she would give a vote for the gun safety package.
00:08An emotional exchange in a recent debate over gun reform after the Annunciation shooting that left two children dead.
00:15But for DFL candidate and U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar and Republican and House Speaker Lisa Damoth,
00:21gun reform has not been the focus of the campaign trail.
00:24University of Minnesota political science professor Larry Jacobs.
00:27For Damoth, it's if you're against fraud, then you have to vote against Klobuchar.
00:31For Klobuchar, she's come back and said, look, if you're against Donald Trump, who's very unpopular in Minnesota,
00:37then you shouldn't be supporting Lisa Damoth.
00:39He says both candidates do agree, though, that change is needed in state government.
00:44There is a big battle here going on. It's very real.
00:46But we now know that Amy Klobuchar and Lisa Damoth both are opposed to new taxes.
00:54They both favor reforming permitting.
00:57And so that tells you whoever is governor is going to take a different approach than the Waltz administration,
01:02which did raise taxes.
01:04And frankly, some of the DFLers who are going to be in the legislature who are very strong on let's
01:11bring in more revenue,
01:13let's tax the wealthy.
01:14In the end, whether the Democrat or Republican wins, Minnesota will have its first ever woman governor.
