00:00A new mural unveiled this afternoon on one of Minneapolis's most iconic buildings, Orchestra Hall.
00:05The mural of Bumblebee.
00:08Nancy Lindahl, current life director of the Minnesota Orchestra, explains.
00:12To me, the bee signals on the exterior of the building the joy that is found within.
00:20The bee symbolizes positivity, cooperation, and resilience.
00:26The artist is Rock Martinez, who also created the Prince mural on First Avenue.
00:31When I thought about what to paint on the building, I thought I needed to create something that was healing
00:37and had resilience after the harsh winter that we experienced.
00:41And so I thought something that's so playful, like a bumblebee.
00:45Bumblebees vibrate at a frequency of healing.
00:49And then I thought about the buzzing, and the buzzing equaled vibration, and the vibration equals music.
00:56And then I was like, what ties in the bumblebee?
00:58And then I thought of most famous orchestrated composition, The Flight of the Bumblebee.
