Dan Quinn addressed the film on Jayden Daniels, but his tone sounded completely different than usual. Are the coaches losing patience with their quarterback, or is the pressure starting to crack the locker room?

00:00But you know what?
00:007 o'clock, time to Hit the Skins.
00:02Big game Sunday night against the Eagles.
00:06All right, of course, Hit the Skins is brought to you by Don't Sleep.
00:10Don't Sleep keeps you ready to hit the skins.
00:13Energy and focus for whenever it's go time.
00:16Shot or cans, load up now at dontsleepenergy.com.
00:20Use the code JUNKIES.
00:22And remember, Don't Sleep makes you great.
00:27All right, so obviously, big game.
00:29It's just dawning on me.
00:31I know we talked about it last week, about the game being potentially moved.
00:35People not excited about it.
00:37You know, the one-win skins against the flailing Eagles,
00:43and yet they aren't flexing it.
00:45It is going to be a Sunday night game.
00:48Eagles have lost five in a row.
00:50Yeah.
00:50Five in a row.
00:52Yeah.
00:52And I know you're not happy about it.
00:54I'm not happy about it.
00:55It just sets the week off terribly.
00:58Back-to-back weeks.
00:58We're just going to be exhausted.
01:00I mean, even people just have regular Joe jobs.
01:02You're going to be exhausted.
01:03Everyone's going to be exhausted.
01:03Yeah, but you could be riding high on a win, all of a sudden looking at a division,
01:07which you can climb back into the race.
01:08I do find it interesting that we're four to four and a half point favorites,
01:12depending upon what book you look at.
01:13I think that's crazy.
01:15It's not crazy because the Eagles have their backup quarterback.
01:20The Eagles have a bunch of guys hurt.
01:22Now, maybe some of those guys come back.
01:24And then the Eagles' strength was supposed to be their defense,
01:29and their defense got ripped to shreds last night.
01:32Yeah.
01:32I would think, based on what happened last night,
01:35that Barkley could be out again.
01:38He did not look good.
01:39Because after he hurt his back, he didn't come back in the game.
01:43Now, can you give me...
01:44This is back broken.
01:46Spinal.
01:47You don't know that clip, do you?
01:48That's a Mike Tyson.
01:49Mike Tyson.
01:51Documentary is really good on Netflix.
01:52So, McLaurin obviously out the rest of the regular season.
01:56Tunsil expected to be out until very, very late.
01:59But JP's telling me, I didn't find it yet,
02:01that he tweeted something alluding to maybe coming back sooner than expected.
02:05Is that the idea?
02:06It's kind of a cryptic post.
02:08Let me see if I can get right to it.
02:09I sent it to you guys last night.
02:11I know that in the meantime, Marcus Mariota is returning to practice.
02:15Charles Amenehu is returning to practice.
02:18Unfortunately, I mean, Traylon Burks also returning to practice.
02:21Unfortunately, Kinlaw not progressing as quickly as everyone had hoped.
02:27So, that's looking shaky.
02:29That's looking dicey for Sunday night.
02:33I would think we would need Kinlaw.
02:35So, from King Tunsil, which I guess is on Instagram,
02:38it's a picture of Tunsil in his uniform.
02:42You see the back of his jersey, and it looks like he's running onto the field.
02:46So, some people were interpreting it as Tunsil's coming back.
02:52Man, that would be massive.
02:53Now, I don't know if you'd come back.
02:54What did he have?
02:54He exploded pec?
02:56Is that what happened?
02:56He had a pec injury.
02:57He tore his pec, I think.
02:58Yeah.
02:59I mean, I don't know how you could come back.
03:01Does he have surgery to connect it again?
03:03I think he did.
03:04I don't know.
03:04But the original expectation was that he would come back maybe around week 15, something like that.
03:10If he were able to come back, that would mean Brandon Coleman would slide over to left guard,
03:15and then the offensive line should be stronger.
03:18So, I know that DQ took to the podium, and Valdez has some audio.
03:26I don't know which one you want to play first.
03:29Let's play first about Jaden.
03:32A lot of people have been taking shots at Jaden, saying that he's been too conservative,
03:36that he's just going to the check down.
03:39Here's DQ on Jaden's performance.
03:41In certain games, it is accurate to that.
03:44They, like, that's the kind of the blessing and the curse of when do I scramble?
03:48When do I move out?
03:48When do I go?
03:49And so, I think those are, like, fair comparisons.
03:53Like, when you see a window, like, hey, man, this is the time to go let it rip.
03:57One of the things I appreciate from Jay is, like, he puts the ball in the right location
04:01when it's contested or when it's not.
04:02And certainly on some of the deep ball shots, I think that's one of the, you know,
04:07like, sweet spots for him in terms of where he can throw.
04:10But if you're putting the whole thing together, I think, let's call it the, you know,
04:15three games or so, three and a half games, which ones did we like,
04:19which ones do we want to improve on, and where we're growing?
04:21I think that's true with Jay.
04:22That's true with David.
04:23Ourself, kind of, like, offensively, these are the things we like.
04:27And these are the things that now we get to go tweak to move forward.
04:31There's no more trial and error, you know, like, this is how we got to go get it done.
04:37But with Jayden, I think I always like his accuracy.
04:40But as far as contested throws, that a lot of times happens on the man-to-man,
04:44the pressures when you're trying to deny the ball.
04:49It's something that, like, we all work at hard.
04:51But, yeah, I think if you're looking at the whole body of work, when's your shot, when isn't.
04:56That's what comes to my mind first, DA.
04:59He didn't really say anything there.
05:00He sounded shakier.
05:02You know what?
05:02I don't like to read too much.
05:03I've said it for years and years.
05:05I don't think what coaches say really matters when they're talking to the press.
05:08Whether it's press conferences, whether it's interviews like this.
05:11I think this was a Zoom presser.
05:13Yeah, it was.
05:14But, that being said, he sounds shaky there.
05:18He sounds wishy-washy.
05:19I think he knows his job status.
05:22Of course.
05:22And he can't feel, like, super strong confidence.
05:24Of course he knows.
05:26I feel like he also sounds like a guy who just kind of wants to agree with the media.
05:34He doesn't sound sure of himself.
05:36Yeah.
05:37I think he sounded like that the last few weeks.
05:40I don't know, man.
05:41Stand up for your guy.
05:42Just say, hey, listen, he could take some more shots, but we really like what he's doing.
05:45I love his accuracy.
05:46I love where he's placing the ball.
05:47He just said a whole bunch of nothing right there.
05:49I think that there is a little frustration, and I think, this is my interpretation, the
05:58tie, I think he put it on Jaden Daniels.
06:00I think he was just flabbergasted, and we talked about it forever, that the coaching should
06:08have been better, and the play-call choices maybe weren't great.
06:12But I think he was flabbergasted that Jaden went down, took a sack, and they didn't get
06:17another playoff, couldn't kick the game-winning field goal.
06:20I think that blew him away.
06:21And I do think, and he's said a few times, that they're seeing on film plays, big plays
06:26which are available, which they're not hitting on.
06:28And I think as a coach, you probably get frustrated that you drop these plays, and he's acknowledging
06:32Jaden is still making good, accurate throws, but he's probably frustrated as a coach that
06:37there's things on film which they think are available, which can lead to more points.
06:42Exactly.
06:43I think, don't they always see that?
06:45That's not really unique to Jaden this year.
06:48You could probably say that about most quarterbacks.
06:50Hey, you missed this.
06:51Hey, you missed this.
06:51Hey, you missed this.
06:52You're very defensive.
06:53Yes, I'm sure that you can, but it may be happening more frequently than with others.
06:58They want the ball going in different spots than he's putting it.
07:02You know what I mean?
07:03They're drawing up a play, and the primary is Chig 20 yards downfield, and he's throwing
07:08a five-yard pass to Rashad White.
07:10They want the ball going to Chig at 20.
07:14Yeah, well, protect them a little better.
07:16Give them a little more time.
07:19I think you could, I mean, I've proven he could do it, just like Kurt Warner said over
07:23and over and over.
07:23I've seen him do it a million times.
07:26I don't know.
07:27I am a little defensive about it.
07:28I think everyone's just jumping on him.
07:31Could he play better?
07:32Of course he could play better.
07:33But if Dan Quinn's addressing it, it's not like people are making it up, right?
07:38I just didn't hear him.
07:38No, he's actually agreeing with it.
07:40The question before was about Kurt Warner.
07:42I actually heard him say nothing.
07:44He just, like, play that answer again.
07:46He didn't really say anything.
07:48He says he's got to let it rip.
07:51I heard him say something about let it rip.
07:52And he said that a few times.
07:53I'm sure there are some times you'd like to see him.
07:55The blessing and the curse.
07:56When do I scramble?
07:56When do I move out?
07:57When do I go?
07:57And so I think those are, like, fair comparisons.
08:02Like, when you see a window, like, hey, man, this is the time to go let it rip.
08:05One of the things I appreciate.
08:07You could pause it right there.
08:08When you see a window, let it rip.
08:10Okay.
08:11What they're seeing on film is sometimes he's holding the ball.
08:14I think it's a very general statement.
08:16You can say that, everybody.
08:17Yeah.
08:17And look, that's been a criticism of Jay Daniels.
08:19It's not to say he's not good.
08:21You're so damn defensive about Jay Daniels.
08:23It's that he is not throwing the ball in tight window situations.
08:26And at times, missing guys downfield.
08:28Do other quarterbacks miss guys downfield?
08:30Sure.
08:31They all do.
08:32Yes.
08:33Every single one.
08:33Tom Brady.
08:33But he may be doing it more frequently than others.
08:36It's possible.
08:36And the coaches may be frustrated by it.
08:38Yeah.
08:39That's possible.
08:40But he also has that X factor that a lot of those guys don't have.
08:44So I just think it might take time for him to get to a point where, I don't know.
08:49I don't know.
08:50They've got to score more points.
08:51Nobody's denying that.
08:52But can he play better?
08:53They've got to score more points.
08:54Of course.
08:55Of course.
08:55Exactly.
08:56Of course.
08:56They just do.
08:5722 a game, just not enough.
08:58They could all play better.
08:59Everybody could play.
09:00Bill could play better.
09:01Chig could play better.
09:02Terry could play better.
09:03All the guys could play better.
09:04Well, Bill can't play better because he's not available.
09:06So he's not going to play for a few weeks.
09:08No, play some more after that.
09:09Okay.
09:10So there he said, yeah, there are some times we'd like to see him let it rip.
09:12What else did he say?
09:13He just kind of deandering.
09:14Yeah.
09:15But he's saying, okay, when it's open there, you've got to let it rip.
09:18But he appreciates him not turning the ball over.
09:22That's basically what he's saying.
09:23He answers the ball in the right location when it's contested or when it's not.
09:27And certainly on some of the deep ball shots, I think that's one of the sweet spots for him in
09:34terms of where he can throw.
09:36But if you're putting the whole thing together, I think let's call it the three games or so, three and
09:41a half games, which ones did we like, which ones we want to improve on, and where we're growing.
09:45I think that's true with Jay.
09:47That's true with David.
09:48Ourself, kind of like offensively, these are the things we like.
09:51And these are the things that now we get to go tweak to move forward.
09:56There's no more trial and error.
09:58You know, like this is how we've got to go get it done.
10:01But with Jayden, I think I always like his accuracy.
10:04But as far as contested throws, that a lot of times happens on the man-to-man.
10:09It's the pressures when you're trying to deny the ball.
10:13It's something that, like, we all work at hard.
10:15But, yeah, I think if you're looking at the whole body of work, when's your shot, when isn't.
10:21That's what comes to my mind first, DA.
10:23So I didn't really understand him saying anything there.
10:26He just said...
10:26He's playing both sides.
10:28That's exactly what my point is.
10:29He was asked about Kurt Warner's comments, and he said that it does show up at times.
10:36I didn't hear him say that.
10:38It was the earlier part.
10:40But, again...
10:40He said, let it rip.
10:41Like he said, like Eric said, you could say that about any quarterback.
10:44Yeah.
10:45After any game.
10:46Yeah.
10:47I just feel like he's sounded like that the last few weeks.
10:50To me, he just sounds like a guy that just wants to agree with everybody.
10:54He wants to be liked.
10:55He's not taking a stand.
10:56I don't know.
10:58I don't know.
10:59Lost a lot of faith in DQ the last couple weeks, but I think everybody has.
11:05It's not unique.
11:06Unfortunately, that's the way it is.
11:08But, yeah.
11:08But, either way, they have to win 100%.
11:11Yeah.
11:12Do I think that Jaden could play better?
11:14Of course I think he could play better.
11:15In fact, when he came out of that last game, when JP said he played great, I gave him like
11:18a B.
11:20I don't think it was necessarily great.
11:21I gave him a B.
11:24But it gives him a chance to win.
11:25And I don't know.
11:26I think it's just a different mentality if they want him to just rip.
11:28Can they just win a game 34 to 10?
11:32No.
11:32I cannot.
11:34I mean, some is, you know, you look at the scores each week and there's a couple blowouts here.
11:38And can that just happen once?
11:42Or does it always have to come down to last possession?
11:45All right.
11:45What is the other audio that you have of DQ?
11:50Just after their self-scout.
11:52Yeah.
11:52He talks about how both sides need to start complimenting one another.
11:57How they, you know, need to start finishing games.
11:59How the first half will be good and the second half will be so-so.
12:04So, he just, he comments on that.
12:05As far as the bye, I thought it was a much-needed reset in a lot of ways.
12:10We did a self-scout in all three phases separately.
12:14And then, that's up to me to, you know, like also do one collectively.
12:19You know, our complimentary football.
12:20And so, coming out of that, I like our fight and our intensity to match our levels of execution.
12:26And play like we're capable of for all four quarters.
12:29There's been this half and that half.
12:31And so, I know there's always ebbs and flows of the game and talk that to the team.
12:35But specific, what needs to get done to go win the game.
12:38And I'm really excited to get rolling with the guys today.
12:41And ready to get rolling with you as well.
12:44How are they doing health-wise and secondary?
12:47Pretty good?
12:49I don't have any injured guys listed from the secondary.
12:53All right, good.
12:53Key guys.
12:54No.
12:57Look, the guys I have that are coming back are Mariota, Amenahue, Burks.
13:03Mm-hmm.
13:04Guys that are out.
13:05Lane, Krosky-Meritt.
13:07Looks like Javon Kinlaw is probably not going to make it back.
13:11Of course, obviously, Terry's out.
13:13I don't have any other guys listed for me right now.
13:15All right.
13:16So, I think that means Amos and all those other guys should be good to go.
13:18They're all good to go.
13:19Nick Cross, good to go.
13:20Yeah.
13:20Yeah.
13:21But, you know, we'll get more into it and break it down.
13:24I am surprised that we're four-and-a-half-point favorites.
13:27Well, that's how bad Philly is.
13:29Maybe this can be the game where we put up 30 and Jaden has four bombs and everybody will be
13:35happy.
