00:00Still talking about what went down on Sunday.
00:02And you know what?
00:02It's not just us.
00:03We have two TVs in the studio.
00:06One of them's on ESPN.
00:08Their show Get Up airs from 8 to 10.
00:11Their lead topic is the Micah Parsons comments about Dan Quinn
00:14and Jaden Daniels probably costing him his job.
00:17As soon as I saw that happen, like for the first 10 seconds after I was in shock,
00:22I was walking around my living room like I still can't believe that happened.
00:25The next thing I thought was, well, we're going to be talking about this.
00:29Not only this entire week, but this will be a reference point forever.
00:35It's an iconic moment.
00:35I mean, it's like one of the biggest botches and meltdowns in NFL history.
00:40What do you think Monday Night Football is going to be like?
00:42The coverage of Monday Night Football.
00:43How many times do you think they're going to show that?
00:45SVP and all those guys are going to talk about it for an hour.
00:48I may have to mute the TV.
00:51Honestly, I just...
00:52Just put the radio on.
00:54Put up Bram and those guys on.
00:55I might have to do that.
00:57But just a one-week only, I just can't listen to it for three straight hours during the broadcast.
01:04But it is the biggest topic in sports.
01:06That's why national personalities like Rich Eisen are talking about it.
01:10Let's play this audio from Rich Eisen, who's a little baffled why Dan Quinn still has a job.
01:18They are not going to tell their coach who damn near had him in the Super Bowl two years ago
01:24and had this team with Jaden Daniels back healthy in weeks one and two close to stunning everybody in Philadelphia
01:36and Dallas
01:39until Daniels wasn't healthy.
01:42And then beat the defending Super Bowl champs two weeks ago in their house, in their home opener with Marcus
01:52Mariota, beat Seattle.
02:00And then goes to London, loses his backup quarterback there, has to put a kid from Rutgers out there,
02:13only to have Jaden Daniels back, runs two in and they're up by two scores.
02:21Despite the insane ending that screams lack of competence in every second that elapsed when you watch it back,
02:35they are not in week five telling Dan Quinn we're done now.
02:40Could you imagine?
02:41They just bounce him right now.
02:44It's a one three in one season.
02:46You're going to start, what, changing everything right now because the clock was blown for a tie?
02:53Not even a loss?
02:56I wouldn't be shocked if they had done it.
02:59I mean, he doesn't look like they're going to do it.
03:01I know he's hyping up the fact that they beat Seattle with Marcus Mariota.
03:05That's an afterthought in the wake of just the optics of how bad that end of game operation was
03:12for the players and the coaches.
03:14It was bad, of course, it was horrible.
03:15Beyond that.
03:16But if they were going to do it, they would have done it yesterday.
03:19You would think.
03:19If they're going to do it this week.
03:21If they go out to San Francisco on Monday and get beat 37-10?
03:25Yeah.
03:26Okay, maybe they do it.
03:28Let's see it during the bye week.
03:29During the bye week.
03:30That's possible.
03:31People ruling it out.
03:32But if they were going to do it because of what happened on Sunday, it would have already
03:36been done.
03:36People ruling it out because he doesn't have a history of doing that traditionally.
03:40He has done it before, like mid-season firings.
03:43I think are being silly.
03:45I think this is a different circumstance.
03:47This is his favorite team.
03:48This is a team he grew up loving.
03:49I think it's different than all the other teams he manages and owns.
03:54I think anything's on the table.
03:56Anything crazy could happen.
03:57They get blown out, like you say, and embarrassed on national TV.
04:00You'd be a fool to just say, yeah, he just doesn't do that kind of thing.
04:04I would not rule it out at all.
04:05I don't think that Dan Quinn is 100% certain to finish out the season.
04:10Very much, these next three games, very much, I think, being fired is in play, potentially.
04:15But also...
04:16I mean, if they're 1-6-1, of course.
04:18To his point about being in Seattle, you know, great win.
04:21It was a blip, right?
04:23It's like the second or third win out of the last 18 or 19.
04:26Right, it's a one-off.
04:27Yeah, I mean, great win.
04:29It's a one-off.
04:31It's the exception, not the rule.
04:34If you want to chime in, 1-800-636-106-7.
04:37Do you think Quinn deserves to stick around for a while?
04:42I feel like we're in that Jay Gruden situation where Gruden was fired after 0-5.
04:48Where you kind of knew the ending to the story before it even played out, but you let it play
04:54out.
04:54Now, I'm more just cut your losses now.
04:57Now, it doesn't necessarily change the trajectory of the season.
05:01I don't think Anthony Lynn or whoever would be elevated to be head coach is going to be a miracle
05:06worker.
05:07No.
05:07And all of a sudden, the team's going to rip off six or seven straight wins.
05:11But they've been in close games.
05:13And maybe a different head coach does something a little different, and you win those close games.
05:18The league, by and large, is separated on close games.
05:24Two years ago, when they made the run to the NFC Championship game, they were masters in those winning time
05:31moments.
05:32And they won those close games.
05:34And they seem to all be falling the other way now.
05:38You lose the Eagles by two.
05:41You know, the Cowboys game, that went south after Jayden gets hurt.
05:47But this game was a winnable game.
05:50So, just those two, the Eagles and Giants.
05:51And then I would also argue that the Colts game, it's 6-0.
05:56We talked about it that week.
05:596-0.
06:00And they go for it on that fourth down, and everything flipped after that.
06:04That was another.
06:04But also, they had a third-string quarterback.
06:06I know.
06:06I'm just expecting.
06:07That was stupid.
06:08But that's a coaching decision.
06:09It's not going to win the game.
06:10That's true.
06:12We did kill Dan Quinn for that particular decision to go for it on fourth and five with a third
06:18-string quarterback and a fourth-string running back.
06:20That was stupid.
06:21Right.
06:21It's a coaching decision where the Colts were doing nothing offensively against them.
06:25Right?
06:26So, the coach decides, hey, go for it.
06:29And I'm sure it was supported by analytics.
06:31They decide to go for it.
06:32From your own 45.
06:33Maybe punt to the team that can't even get first downs against you.
06:37Yeah.
06:37At least in the early portion of that game.
06:39And so, if you know the end of the story, maybe you can speed it up.
06:44I feel like there's no upside to firing Quinn right now because I just feel like, and I know it's
06:48early, I just feel like this season is adrift already.
06:51You know what I'm saying?
06:52So, what's the point?
06:52Are you going to fire him at the end of the year?
06:54If they finish 7-9-1?
06:57If I'm Josh Harris and company, I'm just 7-9.
06:59They're going to finish 7-9-1?
07:01Yeah.
07:01I probably still let him go.
07:03So, they go 500 the rest of the way.
07:05I feel like I can do better.
07:05I can do better than Dan Quinn to lead my football team going forward.
07:09So, you're just a wait versus shake it up now.
07:13As long as they still look competitive.
07:15Now, if it looks like he's lost the locker room and they get destroyed against the Niners and then by
07:20the Eagles and Rams in succession, then you might have to just...
07:25He can't survive that.
07:26If you get smoked the next three weeks, I don't give a...
07:29And I don't think anybody would have a problem with that.
07:31But if they're competitive, then I can see holding him until the end of the season, you know, not causing
07:35more disruption to an already chaotic season here, and just firing him at the end of the year.
07:39The only thing I'd say is the division is still gettable, even though...
07:44Yeah.
07:45They've gone on runs before.
07:46Even though they played horribly in the last 55 seconds of that game.
07:50We've talked about it a million times.
07:51It's still gettable.
07:52You know what I mean?
07:53It's still gettable.
07:54They gave up on the season.
07:55And look, I'm not saying that they're going to beat the 49ers, but can they beat the Eagles?
07:59The Eagles are depleted.
08:00Sure, they could.
08:01They could beat the Eagles.
08:03Can they beat the Rams?
08:04Probably not.
08:04But what if they won two of those three?
08:06Somehow.
08:07Well, it gives you renewed hope for the rest of the season.
08:09Because now you're 3-4-1.
08:10Because then the schedule softens up after that.
08:12So I would say keep them because you just don't know what's going to happen in the next three weeks.
08:16If they get destroyed in those three games and they're 1-6-1, okay.
08:19If they get destroyed or humiliated against, I don't think he can tolerate it.
08:23I don't think he's surviving.
08:24I think it'd be tough.
08:24Let's go to the phones.
08:251-800-636-1067.
08:27You heard what Rich Eisen said.
08:30Kind of defended Dan Quinn based on resume.
08:33All right.
08:33Let's go to Zach in Falls Church.
08:35Hey, Zach.
08:36What's up?
08:37You're on with the junkies.
08:39Hey, fellas.
08:39Thanks for taking my call.
08:40You guys are the best.
08:41Thanks, man.
08:42What's up?
08:43So, you know, after 48 hours have passed, we finally see a little bit more on, you know,
08:48social media and people are finally acknowledging that it was all Daniels.
08:54I mean, it was 80 or 90% Daniels.
08:56I mean, I feel like I was taking crazy pills seeing that he was somehow absolved of blame.
09:00I mean.
09:01I don't think anybody ever absolved him of blame.
09:03I don't know anybody that absolved him of blame.
09:05We had a couple callers on Monday to do.
09:06But that was basic high school stuff.
09:09I mean, he had 50 seconds and all he had to do was throw it out of bounds and he
09:13dives
09:13into the ground.
09:14And then, you know what?
09:15My second point I want to leave you guys with is they can't pay him $70 million a year
09:20or whatever.
09:21I mean, that is nuts.
09:22That's a separate issue.
09:23Sending him back to L.A. for Ty Simpson and a couple firsts.
09:27Oh, you're already dealing?
09:28I wouldn't want to do that.
09:30Are you a Commanders fan?
09:32I'm a diehard.
09:33I'm a 32-year-old man.
09:34I've been through the worst of the worst.
09:37I cannot believe that crap.
09:39You've seen almost no success.
09:40Now, be honest.
09:41Okay?
09:42Be honest.
09:42Before the last 55 seconds, when he was running for touchdowns.
09:48Still wanted to trade him for Ty Simpson.
09:50Yeah.
09:50What were you thinking?
09:52What were you thinking when he played great?
09:54He played A-plus ball for 99% of that game.
09:59And all we needed was a first down against that blitz on third and seven or whatever
10:04at the 50.
10:04And he can't beat the blitz.
10:06I mean, that was ridiculous.
10:08Okay.
10:09But you're picking on him for the negatives.
10:12Yeah.
10:12For the positives.
10:13You just...
10:14And you think his elbow's going to survive?
10:15You think his frame's going to survive?
10:17I don't think so.
10:18You're going to pay him $75 million a year?
10:20I'm not saying that.
10:21I'm not saying that.
10:22That's definitely...
10:23It's going to be complicated, for sure.
10:25All right.
10:25Thank you, Zach.
10:26Appreciate it.
10:26Let's get ahead of the curve.
10:27Let's get ahead of the curve.
10:28If you can believe in him, it's not complicated.
10:31Well, I think it's complicated because I do think his career will be marred by occasional
10:37injuries.
10:38Looking at our poll of the day from Monday, it was basically two to one.
10:42The fans blamed Dan Quinn.
10:44When we said, who do you blame the most?
10:46Everybody deserved blame.
10:48David Blau got 5%.
10:49Way too little.
10:51Dan Quinn got 60%.
10:52Jaden Daniels got 35%.
10:54I mean, Blau should get some blame, but not nearly what DQ and Jaden should.
10:58It was kind of like what my instinct was initially, but you can maybe convince me that Jaden deserves
11:03the preponderance of it.
11:05I'm not going to argue with you.
11:06No.
11:07I'm not going to argue with you vociferously.
11:09You're coming around a little bit.
11:10Yeah.
11:11I mean, I said, go to my tweets.
11:13I said it in the moment.
11:14Jaden has the ball.
11:15He's the ultimate guy.
11:17But I do think everyone has the blame.
11:19Blau and Quinn too.
11:20Yep.
11:20For sure.
11:21All right.
11:22Let's go to Joseph.
11:24But I also think that it's such a rare thing and that Jaden is so composed and poised 99%
11:30of the time.
11:31I don't think you'll see a situation remotely close to that again.
11:36Yeah.
11:36I'm almost impossible to, but I just don't think you will.
11:38I mean, none of us have seen that in our entire football watching careers.
11:42Well, you were just talking about the Caleb situation two years ago.
11:45That wasn't a field goal situation to win the game in overtime when you're in field goal
11:52position.
11:53Yeah.
11:53Caleb Williams basically wasted a little time and he could have maybe had another passing
11:58attempt.
11:59Could have had another play.
12:00But they were trailing and they were on the 42-yard line.
12:03Yeah.
12:04Joseph, what's up?
12:06Hi, guys.
12:07Thanks for taking my call.
12:08I wanted to point out, you guys brought up Caleb Williams in that Thanksgiving game
12:14against the Lions a couple times.
12:15I want to point out that Matt Eberflus was out of a job before the weekend was out.
12:19So, there's definitely precedent for coaches getting fired for that sort of clock mismanagement.
12:26But I think also, he was fired also because they were terrible.
12:30Yeah.
12:31It wasn't just for that one boo-boo.
12:33That's the larger point.
12:34That's the straw that broke the camel's back.
12:36Yeah, tipping point.
12:37But I would say Quinn did a smart thing by insulating himself by two first-year coordinators
12:44and then everyone's yelling for Anthony Lynn to take over.
12:48But you're going to fire one guy where the straw that broke the camel's back was clock
12:54mismanagement and replace him with a guy that may have worse clock mismanagement.
12:58Right.
12:59I agree with you, which is also fundamentally why I'm against firing coaches midseason.
13:05Because fundamentally, it's never solved any problems.
13:08The hot shot guy that you really want generally already has a job.
13:12It isn't available at this point anyways.
13:15So, I have nothing against doing something like saying, Dan, this year, last year, we're
13:20firing at the end of the season.
13:22And then, just wait until the end of the season.
13:24Well, Joe, the only reason I would fire him is if they got blown out over the next three
13:31games, because if that happened, it's pretty obvious he'd probably lost the locker room.
13:36Yeah, and you'd be the national laughingstock week after week.
13:38If he didn't lose the locker room, if the entire team is still backing him and still wants
13:42to play hard for him, and they're playing tough, yeah, I don't believe he should be fired
13:46midseason.
13:47But sometimes you just have to do it because you've got 53 guys on the field that don't
13:52believe in him as well.
13:53And sometimes, listen, certainly in other sports, you make a managerial change or something,
13:58it turns the season around.
13:59Now, maybe not in football.
14:01It's worked in the NFL a few times.
14:03I have a couple of situations here.
14:06Jason Garrett replaced Wade Phillips in 2010, went 5-3, then he became the full-time head
14:11coach.
14:12Remember that guy from the Raiders, Rick Bissasha?
14:16He took over the Raiders in 2021, then led them to the playoffs.
14:20Yeah, I remember him.
14:21He's the older guy.
14:21Happens.
14:22Was he a special teams coach?
14:24I think so.
14:24And then I don't even think he got considered for the full-time job the next year.
14:28Yeah, we're passing over again.
14:29Yeah.
14:29They gave it to the Redskins linebacker, didn't they?
14:32Was that when they gave it to him?
14:33Or was that before that?
14:34Antonio Pierce?
14:35Yeah.
14:36Yeah, Antonio Pierce did that.
14:37He was elevated head coach.
14:39No, he was in 2025.
14:40But he was an interim guy.
14:43He was a disaster.
14:55And if the division is going to be one with eight or nine wins, which we kind of think
14:59now, based on how the division is playing, maybe a coach makes a difference.
15:05If you think that this coach is making a difference in the wrong way, maybe you get a coach that
15:09makes a difference in the right way.
15:12Well, they would have to win a couple of the next three to be in the mix.
15:16If they lose all three and they're 1-6-1, it doesn't matter who you coach.
15:20Or who coaches the team.
15:21Yeah, the season's...
15:22I mean, it doesn't matter.
15:23The season's over.
15:23I threw this out there.
15:24I don't think it's going to happen.
15:25I think Quinn will survive.
15:27And likely, this scenario is going to be what Cake says.
15:29They're going to play out the season.
15:30They're going to finish with six or seven wins.
15:32And then they're going to move on.
15:34But if they get bludgeoned on Monday Night Football with a bye week, I would not put
15:39it past them and make it a move.
15:41I agree with that.
15:41But what if they don't get bludgeoned?
15:43Yeah.
15:44What if they just lose the next three?
15:45Then I think they'll probably hang on a little.
15:47So it'll be 1-7-1.
15:49And then what if they lose to the Giants?
15:511-6-1.
15:52Then you pull the plug.
15:53Well, hold on.
15:54They're 1-3-1.
15:54Okay, 1-6-1.
15:551-6-1.
15:55So, but in other words, they don't have to just get blown out.
15:58They just keep blowing out.
15:59No, but I'm saying this week, like, it could happen on Tuesday if they get bludgeoned.
16:03I agree with that.
16:03If they get bludgeoned.
16:04The idea that they're not going to fire him because he typically doesn't do that, I think
16:08is crazy.
