00:00you talked about miami so i am going to pose this back to you i i saw one of the
00:04analysts say
00:05and and i'm curious how you feel about this that miami who's ranked number one
00:11and they should be number one who's gonna doubt that at this point of course they're the number
00:15one team but joe is miami far and away the best team in the country right now are they like
00:23that
00:23much better than everybody else because i heard somebody say that and i was like
00:28i don't know about that like i think they deserve to be the number one team in the country
00:33but i don't feel like this is 2001 or 2002 where edger and james and reggie wayne and andre johnson
00:40and ed reed and all these guys are walking through the door they have some good players tony's probably
00:44the best player in the country uh and this kid mallory i told you about oh my gosh he's better
00:48than fletcher you can see that already there's running back that they have but but joe do you
00:52do you feel that way do you think miami is far and away the best team in the country right
00:56now
00:58well quietly what's happened here is that they had a ton of injuries on the defensive side of the
01:03ball to start the season craig and and they've got those guys back in the mix now but we've spent
01:10you
01:10know the media and uh the college football we've spent so much time talking about malachi tony and men's
01:16and the quarterback and the offensive side of the ball that we have missed what's happening on the
01:21defensive side of the ball as well which is they are damn good on that defensive side of the ball
01:29so from a talent perspective miami is it one two right up there with the ohio states of the world
01:37problem is ohio state lost their starting quarterback to injury right uh so he is likely done uh in the
01:45anywhere near the college football playoff their fingers are crossed craig that they hope he might
01:51be able to come back by the uh playoffs at some point but that's a that's a long way away
01:56in the
01:56meantime miami as heisman quarterback heisman wide receiver you talked about some of the most underrated
02:03running backs in the country uh then they have guys that you've never even heard of defensively they're
02:10healthy and they are ferocious back there so miami to me on paper absolutely both sides of the ball
02:18pound for pound the most talented team now you and i both know the most talented teams don't always
02:24win everything but this year you got the sec devouring one another every week right every week
02:32it's up it's up tennessee beats alabama goes to uh goes to south carolina south carolina beats them
02:39in overtime and just another while they just keep devouring one another right so here's miami
02:46the big game is going to be against notre dame right that's going to be their big test
02:50well what happens if they maybe maybe this week maybe this week this week could be a little
02:58yeah yeah yeah no no so so i guess what i guess the point that i'm trying to make is
03:02is that i
03:03don't agree that miami is far and away better than everybody else i i think they deserve to be the
03:08number one team in the country but then if you told me in the semi-finals of the college football
03:14playoff they lost by 10 to georgia i'd be like okay yeah that's fine make some sense i i just
03:21don't see
03:21them as i've seen some other number one teams in the country in the last five years where i'm like
03:27i don't think those things exist anymore i don't and i and i think the the issue is more of
03:33everybody
03:33behind them is just really like up and down as you said and eating eating each other alive and
03:37they're not that good i mean right now utah looks like one of the best teams in the country until
03:41of
03:41course utah plays byu and then who knows what happens there but but like i i and i'm not taking
03:47anything away from the hurricanes they deserve to be number one they deserve to be favored and
03:51probably every game they play the rest of the season but i'm not going to get so far ahead of
03:55myself and thinking that when the hurricanes are the number one or number two team in the college
04:01football playoff they get a bye and then they come back out and then they play utah and you know
04:06lose by three or something i'm gonna be like yeah i mean like they were really good but they weren't
04:12a
04:12super team in college football and no and you and as you said all this like like i think indiana's
04:19team
04:19last year was ahead of miami's team this year still like i think that that indiana team was uh but
04:26credit to the hurricanes they you know beat fsu like where would they be if they lost that game
04:32to fsu they'd probably be ranked six or seven so uh you said it though the notre dame thing that'll
04:36decide it right notre dame if miami beats notre dame there'll be nothing to talk about the
04:41that'll be a notre dame beats miami the notre dame jumps into number one and then uh you know yes
04:46but but that's the game game of the year in college football in two weeks
