01:53Good morning, Miss.
01:56Miss, are you missing a very cute doll?
01:59Huh? What?
02:01I'm sorry, Miss. I didn't mean to startle you.
02:04I saw you on the platform and I just wanted to give you this back.
02:08Remember?
02:09Your niece lost it at the station last year.
02:12Oh, thank you.
02:15Oh, Heidi will be so happy to get her back.
02:17I'm very sorry. I forgot to pick it up from you when I returned.
02:22That's not a problem.
02:23So, how is the little lady?
02:26I'm on my way to take her back.
02:28She's coming with me to Frankfurt.
02:30Great news.
02:33I haven't seen her in a year.
02:36I'm sure she'll be happy to see you both.
02:39Huh?
02:40You and her doll.
02:42Oh, thank you.
02:44You're welcome, Miss. Anytime.
02:47I'm sorry.
02:48Sorry-
02:49No-
03:04I'm sorry.
03:13I'm sorry.
03:18Morning, Heidi.
03:20Good morning, Grandfather.
03:22So, are you ready for your big test today?
03:24Just one more to go.
03:26I wonder what it will be.
03:28I know it won't be easy, but if I pass it,
03:31I'll be a goat general.
03:45This is the best day of my life, Grandfather.
03:49I love spring so much.
03:53Dear Uncle, I have good news for you.
03:56I've secured a position here in Frankfurt
03:57and will soon be able to take care of Heidi on my own.
04:01You'll be happy to know
04:02that I'm coming to take her back next spring.
04:06Spring.
04:07Grandfather, is everything all right?
04:10Hmm?
04:12Yes, Heidi.
04:14Oh, I have a surprise for you.
04:17A surprise?
04:20What is it?
04:22Close your eyes and give me your hand.
04:26Now you can open your eyes.
04:30Oh, a whistle.
04:32Oh, great.
04:35To help you as a goat general.
04:38I have a surprise for you too, Grandfather.
04:42Close your eyes.
04:48Oh, Peter.
04:50Peter.
04:52At last.
04:54You're going to make it.
04:56Oh!
04:57Oh, dear.
05:12Durflee!
05:12This is Durflee!
05:14Two minutes stop, Durflee!
05:20There will be a train to Frankfurt this afternoon, weren't there?
05:24Yes, miss. It will leave Durfley at 3.45.
05:28Thank you. And thank you again for the door.
05:32My pleasure, miss. I'll see you and your little miss later then.
06:02Detta, you're back?
06:04Yes, Babble. Just for the day. I'm here to take Heidi back to Frankfurt.
06:10It's about time you came back, if you don't mind me saying.
06:14Oh, why?
06:15Well, Heidi didn't go to school last winter.
06:20The uncle wouldn't let her.
06:22She got into all sorts of mischief.
06:25Mischief?
06:26She even ran away into the woods while we had a wolf wandering around.
06:32Oh, my.
06:34Heidi will be much better off in Frankfurt than with that old bear.
06:38Oh, well, I'd better go, Babble.
06:41You have a good day, Detta.
06:46And good luck up there.
06:51So, Peter, tell me why you only brought pie to do it.
06:55You'll see in a minute.
07:00Now, let me think, okay?
07:04So, cutting the hooves.
07:06Done.
07:07Leading the herd without assistance.
07:09Done.
07:13All right, you only have the last test to pass.
07:18What is it, Peter?
07:20Well, there it is.
07:25Go across the ford?
07:27Yes, without assistance.
07:29And pie is the only one you have to take across.
07:33But pie is really scared of water.
07:36Hee-hee.
07:38Precisely.
07:39That's a tough one, Peter.
07:42Not for a future goat general like you, Heidi.
07:45I know you can do it.
07:46Look, I'm going to cross with the others.
07:48You just have to do the same, all right?
08:08Little bear.
08:09Little swan.
08:10Come on.
08:12Come on.
08:13Come on.
08:14Help.
08:15Help.
08:16Help.
08:18That's it.
08:20One more.
08:21Help.
08:22Yes.
08:23Good girl.
08:26Help.
08:28Last one.
08:30Help.
08:30Yes.
08:32Great.
08:34You see, it's quite easy.
08:36Your turn now.
08:45Uncle?
08:46Uncle?
08:48Good morning, Uncle.
08:50How was winter up here?
08:51I hope it was not too cold.
08:57Uncle?
08:59Where is Heidi?
09:00I'm here for her.
09:02I wrote to you last fall that I would come and get Heidi, as I promised her last year.
09:08I'm going to take her to Frankfurt.
09:16Out of the question.
09:18Huh?
09:19But you told me last year she was a burden for you.
09:22That you didn't want her here.
09:24Now I've found a good place for her and I'm taking her.
09:28Her life is here now, Jetta.
09:30Turn around and go back to where you came from.
09:38Come on, come on, Pi.
09:42Come on, hip hip.
09:45Hip hip.
09:46Hip hip.
09:47Ha.
09:48Hip hip.
09:49Come on.
09:50Come closer.
09:51This way.
09:53This way.
09:54Yes, that's it.
10:02It's okay, Pi.
10:04You're doing great.
10:07Oh, Pi.
10:09Take your time.
10:10I know you can do it.
10:12Just start over.
10:19Come on, Pi.
10:20They're waiting for us.
10:22Don't you think the grass is greener on the other side?
10:25Look at Little Swan.
10:27She's eating it all.
10:31Aw.
10:37Uncle, please.
10:39What are you still doing here?
10:40I won't leave, Uncle.
10:42We have to talk this through.
10:44I work for Mr. Sessaman in Frankfurt, and he agreed to take Heidi in.
10:49This is a real opportunity for her.
10:51Do you understand?
10:53An opportunity?
10:54For what?
10:55Wearing the same kind of ridiculous hat as you?
10:59Oh.
11:00The opportunity for a better future.
11:04Clara, Mr. Sessaman's daughter needs a companion, and Heidi would be perfect.
11:10Heidi will have an education.
11:12The same as Clara's.
11:14She'll learn how to read and write.
11:16This is a real chance.
11:19Heidi is not a pet companion, Detta, nor a wannabe maid.
11:23Oh, she might have a lot to learn here, but it is time she receives a proper education.
11:30And I promised my dear sister Adelaide to take good care of Heidi.
11:36Yet you brought her here last year and left her without a second glance.
11:41I didn't have a choice.
11:44Well, you couldn't be bothered.
11:46Heidi is happy here.
11:47She'll stay.
11:48And for what?
11:49So you can continue refusing her an education?
11:53So she can run in the wild with dangerous wolves?
11:55Is that the life you have to offer her?
11:59All you have is the village gossip to justify your selfish decision.
12:04You're just like them.
12:05You don't want the best for Heidi.
12:07You only want to appease your conscience.
12:09Heidi will stay with me, and that's final.
12:11Now go!
12:14You are the selfish one, Uncle.
12:16You want to keep Heidi because you lost Tobias.
12:21Don't you dare bring Tobias into this!
12:24Heidi will never replace him.
12:28And you can't ask a little girl to fill those shoes.
12:32That's not fair.
12:37Think of what Tobias would have wanted for Heidi.
12:41Please.
12:45Take her.
12:47It's what's best for Heidi.
12:49You know it too.
12:50She might not want to go.
12:52She loves the mountains so much.
12:54I'll convince her.
12:58Come on.
12:59Hip hip.
12:59Follow me.
13:01That's it, Pi.
13:03That's a good salt stone.
13:06Tell me.
13:07That's it.
13:09Oh!
13:14Come on, Pi.
13:16Come back here.
13:17Hmm?
13:25Of course, Chippy.
13:27I need to whistle better, just like you.
13:41Good work, Heidi.
13:43You're almost there.
13:48I did it!
13:50I led Pi across the ford.
13:53So?
13:55Where did you find such a whistle?
13:58Grandfather made it for me.
14:00Can I try it?
14:01Mm-hmm.
14:05So?
14:06That whistle is really efficient.
14:10So, what about my test?
14:14Hmm.
14:15Hmm.
14:16Hmm.
14:18Heidi?
14:20You are now a goat general.
14:23Ha-ha!
14:26I'm a goat general.
14:29I'm a goat general.
14:31Ha-ha!
14:32Yay!
14:33Woo!
14:36I need to go back and tell Grandfather.
14:39He's going to be so happy.
14:41You go.
14:42I'll take care of the goats.
14:44Thank you, Peter.
14:57I'm a goat general.
14:59I'm a goat general.
15:01I'm a goat general.
15:03Grandfather, I did it!
15:05I'm a goat general, Grandfather.
15:08Heidi.
15:09Huh?
15:10Aunt Det.
15:12Oh, Heidi.
15:14I'm so happy to see you.
15:16I missed you so much.
15:18I'm happy to see you too, Aunt Det.
15:20I missed you too.
15:22Um, Heidi, I have something to...
15:26Grandfather?
15:26I'm a goat general.
15:29Grandfather?
15:30Heidi?
15:32And look what I got you.
15:35Oh, my doll.
15:37You got it back.
15:39Mm-hmm.
15:40So, you came to visit us.
15:43How long are you staying?
15:44I can take you to the meadow tomorrow.
15:46I'm a goat general now.
15:48I'm not staying, Heidi.
15:51Hmm?
15:52I'm going back tonight.
15:55And you're coming with me.
15:57Huh?
15:57But, uh, I can't, Aunt Det.
16:00Uh, Peter is counting on me now.
16:03And I...
16:04I can't leave Grandfather here alone.
16:07Right, Grandfather?
16:10Your Grandfather will be all right, Heidi.
16:13We talked about it, and he agrees with me.
16:16This is for the best.
16:19No.
16:21Grandfather, I don't want to go.
16:24Do as she tells you, Heidi.
16:26No.
16:27I don't want to leave the mountains.
16:29Did I do something wrong?
16:31Do you really want me to go, Grandfather?
16:34Come on now, Heidi.
16:36We'll...
16:37We'll only stay for a few days.
16:44Grandfather!
16:45Go with your Aunt Detta, Heidi.
16:48Just for a few days?
16:50Promise.
16:52Mm-hmm.
17:00Come on, Heidi.
17:04Goodbye.
17:05Goodbye, Grandfather.
17:13Goodbye, Uncle.
17:14And thank you.
17:21Aunt Detta, I need to stop and say goodbye to Grandmother and Brigitte.
17:26We don't have time, Heidi.
17:28But...
17:28I'll understand.
17:29And the Uncle will tell them.
17:32Oh, and Peter!
17:34And the goats!
17:34I didn't say goodbye.
17:36We'll miss the train.
17:38Huh?
17:39Heidi!
17:41Look, you'll bring them gifts from Frankfurt and they'll forgive you.
17:45Gifts?
17:46Oh, like a nice whistle for Peter.
17:49Yes, like a whistle.
17:51And fresh buns for Grandmother?
17:54Yes.
17:55Come now.
17:56If we miss the train, you won't be able to get their gifts.
18:03Heidi is a goat general.
18:06Heidi is a goat general.
18:09Heidi is a goat general.
18:11Good afternoon, Uncle.
18:13Good afternoon, Uncle.
18:18Uncle?
18:20What's going on?
18:21You're not happy Heidi is a goat general?
18:24Heidi won't be a goat general, Peter.
18:26Oh, but she is.
18:28She passed the last test.
18:29Thanks to the whistle you made for her.
18:32Where is she now?
18:34She's gone, Peter.
18:36Gone?
18:37To Frankfurt with her aunt, so she can get an education.
18:41But that's not possible.
18:43She...
18:43She can't leave.
18:46I didn't have time to tell her goodbye.
18:49She's on her way to the station.
18:51Uncle, we need to say goodbye.
18:59You're right, Peter.
19:00We need to say goodbye.
19:02Come on.
19:17Chippy!
19:19Goodbye, Chippy.
19:21I'll be back soon.
19:22Take good care of Peter, Grandfather and Grandmother, will you?
19:25Come on, Heidi.
19:26We're in the way here.
19:29Mm-hmm.
19:50Run, Peter.
19:51Run.
19:52I'll be right behind you.
19:53All right, I'll go.
20:06First Spiegelheim, Mayanfield and Frankfurt.
20:10All the bold!
20:13Heidi!
20:17Heidi!

20:41Mm-hmm.
20:42But I'll be back soon.
20:45Oh, Peter.
20:53Grandfather! Grandfather!
20:59Can you give her a minute?
21:02The cabin will be really empty without you.
21:06I will be back in a few days.
21:10Grandfather, I promise.
21:19Oh, yes. I will miss you too, Joseph.
21:27Heidi, aren't you forgetting something?
21:34You'll be a good girl, alright?
21:37I'll miss you, Grandfather.
22:00I'll see you soon.
22:04Goodbye, Grandfather. Goodbye, Peter.
