00:10Hey, Drake, thanks for coming on, man.
00:12We really appreciate it.
00:14Yeah, what's going on?
00:15Hey, what's up?
00:15So, a tough loss, obviously.
00:18It's pretty wild how many injuries you and the team have had to deal with around you all season.
00:24No group more affected than that offensive line.
00:27How tough is it for a quarterback to have new people in front of you on the line almost every
00:32week?
00:34First off, a credit to those guys for stepping up and really playing their butts off.
00:39I think each time that we get out there and get in a huddle, sometimes you see new faces,
00:44and you see new faces a lot, but that's just Lee.
00:46And playing football, that's what this game kind of brings to you.
00:51So, I think you've got to battle sometimes some injuries, and sometimes early in the season,
00:54sometimes it's late.
00:55But, no, I credit those guys for stepping up and really keeping me clean for a portion of the game.
01:01And I think that we have to do a better job of trying to establish the run,
01:03but I'm really proud of those guys, and it's part of the game.
01:05And it sounds like you might get a few back today, Drake.
01:07Mike Rabel was saying Ben Brown returned to practice.
01:10Are you hopeful that you might get a few bodies back?
01:13Well, you know, that's how the season works.
01:15These guys get banged up, and they try to work their way back
01:17and try to get back here as soon as they can.
01:19So, Drake, A.J. Brown, obviously an incredibly talented receiver.
01:22He's still finding his footing since coming back.
01:25What can you guys do in these upcoming games to help expedite his return to form
01:30and take advantage of his abilities and get him more opportunities to make an impact?
01:35Yeah, I think, you know, I think just keep playing within the offense,
01:38and I think give him some more chances.
01:40Obviously, he's a great player.
01:41He's got an unbelievable attitude, and he's attacking each and every week.
01:44And I think it's only a matter of time before he's got out there
01:47and takes advantage of his chances and makes a lot of plays.
01:51I know you guys had kind of an extra day here.
01:53It's self-scout day today, Drake.
01:54Where do you think you guys are as a group after seven games?
01:57Yeah, I think we've got to get back to it.
01:58We've got to get back.
01:59We've got a time where these games, you know, battling, you know, 4-3
02:04and then battling, trying to earn a spot and kind of win a division game.
02:09I mean, it's a huge division game we've got coming up this week.
02:11You know, a team that's hungry and playing well.
02:13So we've got a tough challenge, and I'm looking forward to, you know,
02:16getting back in these games right here in the middle of the season.
02:18Kind of these weeks are really important.
02:20So, Drake, if Josh McDaniels gave you the opportunity
02:23to script the first 10 offensive plays against Miami,
02:27what would you want to accomplish with those plays?
02:30Well, I think you want to, you know, accomplish trying to score some points.
02:33Obviously, that's a big thing.
02:34I think try to establish the run, try to build some stuff off of it,
02:37and then, you know, I think we've got a solid passing game.
02:40So try to get it going and try to establish the run, get some kind of easy breathers.
02:46But, I mean, I don't want to think about that.
02:49I try to execute plays that are called.
02:50Yeah, you know, you were saying after the game on Thursday night
02:53that you need to be the conductor at the line of scrimmage.
02:55What did you mean by that?
02:56Are you talking about, like, changing protections, changing plays,
02:59or maybe taking more control from Josh?
03:01What did you mean there?
03:03No, I wouldn't say taking control.
03:05I think he gives me the freedom to do some things within the offense
03:08and trying to earn it more and more each week.
03:10But, yeah, really just protections, kind of getting guys on the same page
03:14of knowing where we're at.
03:15Handing them the road environment is kind of the biggest thing
03:17with definitely having two new starters in there.
03:19I was handling the road environment with the cadence and mic points
03:22and making sure we're on the right page.
03:23So nothing really spectacular.
03:25Just kind of being, like I said, a conductor and being on my stuff.
03:30You, I believe, Drake, were 11 of 12 facing pressure in that game.
03:33How proud are you of how you guys have been able to handle
03:36some of the blitzes from other teams?
03:40I think at the end of the day, you know, trying to win the football game
03:42is a big deal.
03:42So, you know, whichever way we can win, and I think if it's, you know,
03:45handling blitzes and handling pressure, I think we can, you know,
03:48still find a way to do a better job.
03:49And especially, you know, down there when we've got, you know,
03:52chances down there in the red zone, we've got to protect the football.
03:54So I saw Caleb Williams asked you for your jersey at the end of the game.
04:00Have you ever said no to someone who's asked?
04:02Because I'm sure that you get asked all the time being a star quarterback
04:06in the NFL.
04:08I think it's a respect thing.
04:09It's someone that cares enough and respects your game enough to, you know,
04:13know your jersey.
04:15And usually I think it's kind of a respect thing across the league that
04:18they're also in the National Football League.
04:21They're a pretty darn good player too.
04:22So that's kind of how I think about it.
04:23You ever said no to anyone?
04:26Nope.
04:26Nope, I haven't.
04:27Oh, wow.
04:28So NFL players out there, listen, be the first one to ask Drake,
04:31and he'll give you his jersey apparently.
04:33What do you do?
04:34I wouldn't say that.
04:35What do you do with those jerseys once you get them?
04:39Once I get them, I really, I really just my, really with my college teammates
04:44have been really the big jerseys swaps I've had.
04:47I really haven't really done any with any other, you know, players on much teams,
04:50any other teams.
04:51So really just college teammates is really, you know, important to me.
04:54You know, former teammates I had from North Carolina that are in the league.
04:57And then, you know, sometimes from other quarterbacks, it's cool.
05:00Did it feel like a mini bye to you, Drake?
05:02Do you feel refreshed after the weekend?
05:04Yeah, Thursday games are always, they're always tough on the front side
05:07and nice on the back end, but also it's nicer when you get the win.
05:11So we got another, I know we got another Thursday night game this year.
05:15So it was good to get, you know, prepped forward.
05:17I don't know what this next one will be at home,
05:18but you'll get after Miami this weekend.
05:20I'm going on the road again.
05:22So next week after Miami, Tom Brady is going to be in town for the Packers game.
05:27Have you spent time with him before?
05:29And if not, what's the one thing you'd like to ask him?
05:33Yeah, I've spent a little bit of time around him.
05:35I mean, obviously a big fan of his and obviously what he did here.
05:39But I wouldn't say that, you know, before a game he gets in here
05:43and sometimes, you know, we have the production meeting.
05:45I wouldn't say I'm going to sit down and ask him, you know,
05:47a bunch of life questions with, you know, the production crew around.
05:50So it's just, you know, more he's obviously, you know, doing TV now
05:55and, you know, owner of an NFL team.
05:57So he's got a lot going on.
05:58But I just definitely just appreciate his way he's done,
06:00how he played the position, and I know him and Coach McDaniels are close
06:03and also Coach Rable.
06:04So he still has some ties here.
06:06But, you know, what an unbelievable just how he carried himself
06:11and carried himself as a player and what he did here.
06:13What did he talk to you about when you first met him?
06:15Like what was your first impression of him?
06:18I think just trying to be probably not to embarrass myself around Tom.
06:23I think it was a big thing.
06:24He was just talking about, you know, his work ethic.
06:26You know, I talked about how great his story is.
06:27You know, obviously everybody knows his story of, you know, getting the job in Michigan
06:31and being a six-round pick.
06:33And really just no shortcuts to it.
06:35No shortcuts to it.
06:36And I think at the end of the day that you can appreciate your teammates,
06:39but at the same time you've got to, you know, there's not really a shortcut to winning
06:44and knowing that that's the biggest thing is winning.
06:46And you can kind of be friends after.
06:48All right, well, Drake, it's time for our Ask May Anything segment
06:53where the listeners have submitted questions for you, Drake,
06:56and that is brought to you by Northeast Men's Health,

07:04We've got three for you this week, Drake.
07:06Let's go to question number one.
07:08Drake, it's Jake calling in from Wareham, Massachusetts, down into the Cape.
07:13Okay, question for you.
07:15Out of all the years that you dressed up when you were a kid,
07:18what was your go-to in your favorite howling costume that you've ever dressed up as?
07:24Ooh, I know you guys may not believe it, but I used to be fast kind of growing up.
07:27So I used to love dressing up as Flash.
07:29I kind of used to love wearing the Flash, you know, outfit,
07:32and kind of the red with the lightning bolt.
07:35So I was a big fan and thought I was fast.
07:37So got a little wheels left, but not anymore.
07:40Do you have any pictures of you dressed as the Flash?
07:44I'm sure my mom or some of my brothers, maybe Michael, maybe.
07:48But no, I'm not going to send around a picture of me dressed up for howling old kid.
07:53That'll end up in someone's locker, I'm sure.
07:56Exactly.
07:56I'm sure that wouldn't be the case.
07:57All right, let's go to the next one.
07:59Let's go.
08:00Yo, Drake, this is Chuck in New Hampshire with an Ask Drake Anything question here.
08:04But if you were to get into a fight
08:06and you could only have one teammate help you out and back you up in that fight,
08:11who are you picking?
08:14I like my chances more on the big boys up front,
08:16whether it's, you know, Christian Barmore or Milton Williams.
08:20I like, I know Barmore's from Philly,
08:22so I wouldn't mind my chances with Barmore in there.
08:24Do any of those guys do MMA stuff?
08:27Because I know some of these athletes love to, like, in the offseason,
08:30like, kind of learn the jujitsu and all of that.
08:33Any of those guys into that?
08:35Oh, not that I know of.
08:36I know you've got to be careful doing things like that in the offseason.
08:39Things are not often, you know, really injury-free sports.
08:44You've got to be careful.
08:45All right, let's go to our third and final Ask May Anything question.
08:49Hey, Drake, Matty in New Hampshire.
08:51I just want to know, what's your favorite American cryptid?
08:55I'm talking, like, Bigfoot.
08:57I'm talking Jersey Devil.
08:59What gets you fired up?
09:02Oh, man.
09:04Uh, let me think of that.
09:07Bigfoot, uh, American.
09:10I'm going to go with the Loch Ness Monster count.
09:13Well, there's our own version, Champ, up in Vermont.
09:17It's like, it's Vermont's version in Lake Champlain of the Loch Ness Monster.
09:21The Loch Ness Monster's in Chicago.
09:23Oh, you want to go with that one?
09:24Okay.
09:24Let's go with that.
09:25Let's go with that up here in New England and break this up.
09:28Um, I definitely think that's cool.
09:30But, uh, really nothing other than that.
09:33Bigfoot.
09:33I don't know about ghosts.
09:34I'm not a big fan of ghosts.
09:35So, I'll probably go with that.
09:36Is it Champ's name?
09:38Yeah, Champ is his name.
09:39Yep.
09:39Lake Champlain.
09:40There we go.
09:41Yep.
09:41There you go.
09:42That's pretty cool.
09:42That's pretty cool.
09:43All right, man.
09:43Well, Drake, uh, good stuff and, uh, good luck in Miami this week and, uh, hopefully you
09:48guys can come on with a W.
09:50No, I'm good, guys.
09:51Go pass.
09:51All right.
09:51Thanks a bunch, Drake.
09:52Have a Drake, uh, after every Drake May interview, uh, we tell you about how every Drake May touchdown
09:58means more than points on the, on the scoreboard.
10:00Thanks to the generosity of the Shaw's and Star Market Foundation.
10:03$1,000 will be donated to the Mayday Foundation for every Drake May touchdown.
10:07That's right.
10:08Every touchdown by Drake helps make a difference off the field, too.
10:11Drake threw for two touchdowns and rushed for one this week against the Bears, raising
10:14the total for the season to $15,000 to his foundation, courtesy of Shaw's and Star Market.
10:20It's touchdowns for a great cause.
10:22Thank you, Shaw's and Star Market Foundation, for helping the Mayday Foundation make an impact
10:26on our community.
10:27I personally like the Chupacabra.
